I find it remarkable the amount the carer can do in one hour. In a two hour visit, the carer does our food shopping and as required visits the bank also the post office and the pharmacies.

Most importantly, my dad enjoys their visits.

Although well into her 90s, my mother is very independent but, recognising her limitations now, is very appreciative of her weekly visits. During the last 10 months in particular, life has not been easy for anyone but Home Instead has ensured that their services have been compliant with all of the required standards demanded by the government which has allowed my mother to feel secure and that the company has her best interests in mind. This is also reassuring for me as I am not on hand to visit my mother easily, with or without COVID restrictions.

My mother suffers from vascular dementia and it was clear from the assessment period at the outset that Home Instead, for me would meet all my mother's needs. Excellent communication and up to the minute feedback via an amazing app following carers' visits were a huge comfort. Home Instead followed up any questions/concerns quickly whilst demonstrating a high level of knowledge, understanding and attention to detail. Most important of all my mother enjoyed the level of care provided.

Home Instead staff provided care for my mum for over two and a half months as she recovered from a fracture. They all played a very important role in my mum’s recovery; their openness, kindness and hard work made a real difference. As a company, their flexibility and responsiveness was fantastic and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The service provided by Home Instead Senior Care has been of the highest standard. The carers working for/with my mum have been extremely kind, considerate, reliable and friendly. Have fount my Home Instead package perfectly tailored to meet my personal, home and shopping needs since my knee replacement in October 2019. My carer is discreet, thoughtful, smart and thoroughly trained into my requirements and how I like things organised.

Mum has flourished with the Home Instead care (full time at home), changing from an extremely anxious, undernourished, insomniac with little joy in her life to a happy, heavier, well slept, comfortable elder. She loves all her carers, all of them are so individual, but all of them are so generous with their kindness and work hard but with grace and ease to give Mum a lovely home life with security, continuity, excellent caring, wonderful food, companionship and help to become so much more content than we thought possible. Her appearance has transformed, her diet is wonderful. Her trust and love of the girls is a joy to see. She has become more mobile than before, enjoyed sitting in the sun with the girls, chatting to neighbours, going out for walks and trips, companionship for watching her favourite TV, and a new interest in her appearance and events. I have been so grateful that Mum's carers pick up on urinary infections quickly, help her to get nursing care at home and keep us informed.

The big plus is that the continuity of the staff which allows a build-up of trust between the client and the carer.

We have had help from Home Instead for a few years now, first bringing them in to cover a holiday but we kept them on - a bit of a preemptive move on our part as we could see that mum struggled with external help and we needed to tackle that as her Alzheimer’s progressed.

Home Instead work with us, they're very understanding and accommodating - eg. early on when mum rejected help, they worked with us, first taking a take a break from care, then very slowly reintroducing different carers as ‘cleaners’. That strategy worked, now mum is very accepting of help.

The benefit of the care staff's experience has helped us cope with mum day to day, we’ve picked up all sorts of advice from them over the years!

We are now increasing the hours we are getting from Home Instead, we also have another care company and a day centre in the mix too. How long we can maintain mums independence for is anybody's guess - But Home Instead has certainly helped us keep ticking along!
