Absolutely first class care provided to Mum as her health declined over 7 months. The level of care required for Mum increased in several significant steps over time and each step was responded to immediately by Mum's care team. With all family living far away, the care provided gave us peace of mind between our visits. All the care staff were professional, knowledgable and lovely people. I can highly recommend Home Instead Taunton, Mum received the best care possible.
Thank you so much for a wonderful review. I realise this was a really torrid time for your Mum and for you all and it is so emotionally demanding. So it is really heart warming that your Mum and you appreciated each and every one of the quirky care professionals and that we were able to keep her...
The team from Home Instead have all been consistently professional, caring and extremely helpfully in every way. They provide a regular time slot and normally with the same carers each week which helps keep continuity for us and a real comfort for my mum.
Thanks so much for your lovely feedback. It is always so important to see a friendly face at the time that you requested the care professional to visit. The friendly face should wherever possible be the person who has been matched to get on with your mum and for that to be the same person each...
The team from Home Instead are all lovely people who give my father the personal care he needs whilst handling my mother who is a complicated person sometimes, in a sensitive way. There are several people who come regularly which is important to us. The fact that she likes them all is a credit to them too. They work well alongside the micro providers I have for other family needs.
Thanks for great feedback and review and for taking the time to let us know. We do think if there are multiple partners supporting a client it is obviously vital to work well together as the ultimately the focus is always best care for our clients. With this in mind we spend time building...
I need home helps rather than care.
I believe that Home Instead is the best care company operating in my neighbourhood.
Thanks so much for your review and our whole way of being is about matching you to care pros that you get on with and can build lasting relationships and can see on a regular basis. I am sorry this hasnt happened recently as it almost 4 years now since we met and started helping to support you....
My mother passed away on the 13th October only 2 months after we found out. My heart goes out to anyone taking care of an elderly relative. I would not hesitate to recommend MJ services.
When my Mother needed care we contacted Home Instead again to arrange care for her. Once again everyone we have dealt with has been fantastic and she always feels valued and well cared for.
All staff at Home Instead listen to what is required and have always been caring and professional.
Would highly recommend them !!
It is lovely to hear how you describe the care and support you have received from us for both your parents. I realise your parents 'one way and another' have had a tough time. It is wonderful to hear how your Mum is now seemingly feeling more engaged, taking an interest and more sociable. I am so...
When we met with Home Instead in 2023 the administration team took their time to get to really know not only Mum, but Dad as well and get a real picture of their lives and family. All the carers that Mum received were very caring and would take Mum out for walks and take her to Reminiscence learning as well in addition to personal care. This gave Dad time and space as well. Sadly Mum's dementia took a sudden much faster downturn which has meant Mum needing to go into a nursing home. We have however chosen to have a continued link with Home Instead given their excellent service level where they now support Dad at this stage with some Companionship.
Lovely to hear your feedback, but so sorry to hear about your mum as know it was a sudden and rapid decline. It is always the relationships that make the differnce and I know you know, first hand, how important that is and how it has helped through a terrible time. The matching that we always try...
I contacted Home Instead after receiving a recommendation from a friend.
All members of the Home Instead team have been polite, professional and courteous right from the very start of the process to set up Dad's care package.
Without exception, the standard of care now being provided by all the Home Instead care professionals and support team has been outstanding. Genuinely caring people.
It has been very reassuring for me to have their professional help in place, and the ability for me to view their visit notes via a secure app on my phone is proving to be of tremendous value to me as Dad's relative.
Thank you so much for your fantastic review. Coming home from hospital is fraught with uncertainty and the worst fear is that family members wont be safe when they get home and that they will end up back in hospital. Our purpose is to ensure that when people return from hospital they are safe,...
I have help with various jobs around my home as I am still regaining my strength after illness. My helpers are very good and will take on any task I ask of them. I do not need medical assistance at the moment.
Thanks so much for your lovely review and it is great that we have been able to help in some small way in supporting you during your recovery. The last thing you need when you are recuperating is to have to think and use vital energy in doing routine everyday tasks when you should be focussed on...
I have spinal sclerosis & osteoarthritis, and I live with continual pain. My daughter contacted several care agencies & found Home Instead appeared to be the best agency for my needs. My experience to date with the agency has been excellent. They adopt a holistic approach to my personal care. I am able to maintain control over my meals as far as I can manage, whilst the carers help me with all aspects of my care that I cannot manage. One carer has been involved in most of my care, and when she is off duty, another carer covers the session. The continuity of care has been maintained by introducing the relief members of staff beforehand. I look forward to their visits each week. Both women are an asset to the company. I am a retired nurse, midwife, health visitor & psychologist. Thank you for allowing me to respond to this survey.
Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful review. I am sorry that you have had to endure such a rough time . I know the team love supporting you and helping you to look your best to face the day despite all the tribulations. Given your background and understanding of all you are going...
Looking for a care package for our elderly Mum following a "hospital Stay" - Mum was always adverse to any outside assistance. We were lucky enough to bring on board Home Instead in Mums later months to constantly hear Mum say "when are the lovely Carers coming next ? they are so kind and I love their chats they always have time for me"
The client care consultant and her Incredible team at Taunton took away any fears that we had and supported us throughout to which we will always be immensely grateful
It was such a joy to support your mum and be involved in her life. We are so pleased to hear the feedback that she appreciated the personal interactions, as at our heart, it is always about making people smile. We try and ensure we make a connection with all our clients to support people like...
As a family we were looked after well both by the management and careers who went out of their way to fit in with sudden changes and re planning after re planning to assure my parents received the best attendance at a very difficult time.
Thanks so much for your feedback and so pleased to hear that we were able to support your parent and family in the changing needs. So sorry it was such a difficult time and all the more thanks therefore for thinking and committing to complete such a glowing review. Much appreciated.
The Home Instead team have been great in helping Mum since the loss of her husband. The care staff are punctual and responsive to Mum's little tasks each visit, helping to take some of the chores and leave Mum with a little more energy. Most importantly they are chatty and interested in Mum and are wonderful in providing some wider companionship. They are backed up with an involved office team, communicating schedules in a timely fashion and keeping us informed when Mum is having a bad day. Overall we have nothing but praise for the Home Instead team, thank you.
Great to hear your mum is enjoying the support and that allows her to save her energy for those things that she would choose to do in the day and not divert onto tasks where her motivation is diluted. Equally our care always tries to focus on the individual and pay attention to that person so we...
Mum always looks forward to her care visits and trusts and likes the carers who come. We have morning visits every weekday at different times so that Mum knows she can keep her routine (shopping, church or just company at home). Sometimes if no family members are around we arrange for extra visits which Mum always appreciates. The carers are always friendly, helpful and reliable. We have regular reviews and excellent communication with our very supportive care coordinator, who keeps family informed of any concerns which arise and can advise on available resources. As a result we feel very confident that Mum has excellent care at home which can adapt to the changes that old age and gradual loss of memory bring.
Your mum is amazing and the care professionals love supporting her. The trips out seem so important both spiritually and to keep contact with friends. It is lovely to hear that she in turn appreciates the support to keep the things in her life that she holds dear as regular events to look forward...
My family and I are absolutely delighted with the care provided by Home Instead for my 86yr old father. The carers are kind and considerate and go the extra mile to ensure my dad's comfort and safety. Communication between Home Instead and ourselves is excellent and the daily update on the carers visits via the app is very reassuring and thorough. We are confident that any concerns will be raised immediately and acted upon and we are always kept in the loop. The staff are extremely approachable and nothing seems too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead.
Thanks so much for taking the time to give us a perfect review. We really appreciate knowing that in our third year of supporting your Dad that it feels so positive. You as a user over all this time would know how it really is warts and all. If we did a word cloud then the action words of: going...
The care provided, although expensive, was absolutely amazing and worth every penny knowing that mum was in safe hands. All mum's carers were friendly, kind and caring and treated her with respect and dignity. The live-in carers were absolutely exceptional as was mum's end of life care.
Thank you so much for writing a review at such a tough time. I know that everyone involved in your mum's care thought she was amazing and loved caring for her. End of life care is so important to get right as there are always unexpected events which can cause huge distress and so our training and...
I am a solicitor / attorney who was instructed in late 2024 by an elderly lady who had no living relatives to help her manage her affairs. She had been badly let down by her existing (less expensive) home care care agency. I decided to contact Home Instead who have been simply superb from first to last. The client care consultant impressed me from the outset with her quiet efficiency and diligence. She put my client at ease and the live in carers she assigned have all been well trained, calm, efficient and compassionate. This quality of this agency's care has been truly outstanding in all respects and worth every penny of the additional outlay. You get what you pay for it seems.
Thank you for your considered and thoughtful review. We all want to support clients and provide care of a standard that we would want for our own parents. It is completely personal . It is therefore heartening that your review articulated the various elements of care and the individuals in a way...
I contacted Home Instead to care for my elderly neighbour. Firstly it was to take her shopping and basic care around the house. As time went on this then moved to visits twice a day and more care personal care for my neighbour. Towards the end Home Instead came in and looked after my neighbour 24/7 with care and dignity nothing was too much trouble. They are a caring professional organisation and will do all they can to make someone's life just that little bit better exactly when they need it. I would highly recommend them.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. It was a team effort and it was a privilege to support the client. It is never easy physically, emotionally and practically caring for someone who is declining and you were a huge support alongside our team in ensuring the best for our client. We all join...
I can't say enough positive things about the team at Home Instead. Their compassionate care and unwavering support made such a difference during the last few months of my dad's life. They allowed him to stay comfortably and happily in his own home, surrounded by familiar faces and memories, which meant the world to him and to our family. The caregivers were not only professional but truly kind-hearted, going above and beyond to ensure his dignity, comfort, and happiness. We are deeply grateful for the peace of mind they provided during such a challenging time. Home Instead made an incredibly difficult situation much more bearable, and for that, we will always be thankful.
We were all so sorry about your Dad's passing. He was a wonderful man and all the team cared deeply about him. We were privileged to be involved in supporting him. For you to take the time to write a review so soon after his passing is extremely thoughtful. For us it is particularly poignant that...
Home Instead provides a remarkable service for my father. The Care Professionals and office-based staff are genuinely caring and responsive to his needs and wishes. The excellent care has enabled him to stay at home, where he wants to be. The service is efficient and works like a well-oiled machine, but with a human touch. He enjoys seeing his carers, knows when they will come and who to expect. It may be a cliche, but Home Instead staff really do go the extra mile. They spot any subtle changes and raise concerns appropriately when necessary. Management staff contact us in an appropriate and timely manner and are a pleasure to work with. This provides peace of mind as we live over 200 miles away.
It is such a tribute to the team to read this review. I have read several times to make sure I understand the nuances and you do set out the caring effective service we aspire to provide. I know when you are a distance away it is fundamental to know your Dad is safe and cared for and that you can...

Mark has worked as a GP in Somerset for 30 years. During this time, he also worked for the government as an advisor on health policies and worked in industry-leading hospitals, diagnostic units, pathology and social care services such as home care.
Working in Home Care is what Mark is most passionate about. Ensuring that everyone has the best care, support and independent life where they are happiest can make such a positive impact on families. It has always been his motivation to get to know people and try and enable them to have the best life in their own homes for as long as they would like to continue to be supported.
Mark feels that Home Instead Taunton & South West Somerset have an amazing team and the reason they are OUTSTANDING providers as rated by CQC and therefore are seen as being in the top 3% of home care providers in the country.
Despite his impressive background, one of Marks's fondest memories is of being in a pub 10 years after he left his practice in Frome, Somerset. One of his previous patients came up to him to thank him for all the support and kindness that he had shown during tough times all those years ago. The impact of his support had stayed with him all those years.
Mark is an avid sports lover, even if on the sidelines now, but sometimes he can be tempted to join in! He enjoys spending time at home with his wonderful family, dogs, cat and garden. Most of all, Mark loves people and likes spending time socialising whenever the opportunity arises.
