Home Instead supported my mother for over 12 months and was excellent.
The care professionals go above and beyond in trying to help, even in challenging circumstances. They adapted visits to suit my mother so if she wanted to chat they made time for this but if she didn’t, they focussed on other tasks and communicated anything unfinished for the next visit.
The app for checking on how visits have gone has been so useful, particularly as I am not local to my mother, unlike my siblings.
I also like how any new staff were always introduced first to a familiar care professional.
The office staff always email separately to raise any identified concerns which is helpful (or call if more urgent). They have even collected medication for us or called the GP for advice if family were unavailable.

Thank you to all at Home Instead- I would highly recommend them.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments and I will feedback to the team as they make a difference on a daily basis. From having the first conversations with you about your mother and throughout the time we supported her it has been our pleasure to be involved in supporting your mum. I know the care professionals always had a soft spot for your mother. Thank you for writing such a touching review.

My sister was diagnosed with dementia in May 2021. At that time she said she wanted to stay in her own home for as long as she could. She also has type 2 diabetes and is not very mobile. There was also very few friends and family who could help and care for her.
As my sister would need more help as time went by I contacted Home Instead. I had had excellent personal recommendations for this company and was impressed by their reviews. They have been helping me now with my sister since September 2022. We started with 2 hours a week which has now increased to 3 hours.

The Home Instead carers have been excellent with my sister, she can be a little difficult at times due to her dementia and her character. The carers are punctual, there is good communication between us and they offer my sister much kindness, companionship and help. Communication with the Home Instead office is also very good. I highly recommend them.

Thank you so much for your heartfelt review and so pleased that we have been able to help and support so well. My mum has received visits from Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset) care professionals for over a year now. I can't rate them highly enough, they are professional, caring and very aware of Mum's personal interests, and tailor outings to suit her interests. The correspondence with us is amazing, from scheduling to any issues with medication etc.

Thank you Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset) for making a difficult time much easier to manage.

Reply from Mark Hunt, Director at Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset)

So lovely to hear how your Mum and you have appreciated the support, quality and expertise of the team. These times are so tough to sort out and navigate a way through and if we are able to assuage some of the difficulty so that you can spend quality time together with your mum and not just sorting out stuff it makes it all worthwhile. Thank you for the feedback.

The home care provision by Home Instead for my father has been exemplary. Dad has dementia. We have required the service of Home Instead for the last year. All the staff have been caring, empathetic and nothing is too much trouble for them. There is daily feedback from the staff, which is very useful also. I simply cannot praise this organisation enough! They are reliable in every way.

The care team looking after my friend with complex needs have been excellent. They are patient, kind, very caring and attentive to changing circumstances. They bring lightness, laughter, empathy and understanding whilst being professional. Working very hard, going beyond what is required some days. My friend is always clean, well dressed and she looks forward to their visits. The care team manager makes regular, thorough reviews where adjustments to the care plan can be made. They regularly liaise with me regarding her care.

Home Instead have been caring for Mum for just over two years. Without a doubt, the standard of care has been of consistently high standard. Male and female carers are patient, empathetic, friendly, compassionate and professional. As well getting on with the job in hand, the carers have taken the time to get to know Mum, always spend time chatting and laughing with her. They consider her needs and what would be good for her. They take Mum out regularly to the farm shop/coffee shop and if needed will take her for hospital and doctor visits. Mum feels happy and secure in their company. The office team are very supportive and reactive and keep in regular contact via email or telephone calls. I cannot praise them enough.

Overall Experience

Our experience with Home Instead began in 2014 when the dedicated staff supported us with end of life care for my stepfather. My mother continued to receive support after his death until a fall led to a decline in health and the inability to return to her own home in July 2022. We have been so grateful for the service which meant that Mum maintained her independence until she was almost 96. The quality of carers has always been reflected in their attentive and caring approach. Inevitable changes in her care team were handled appropriately with the opportunity to meet new carers before they began their role. She felt she was treated as an individual. She was made to feel special by the carers and they were so significant during Covid when visits and trips out were curtailed. She thought of them as friends. Mum was always treated with respect. There was always a friendly response if I visited the office and prompt replies to emails.

Reply from Mark Hunt, Director at Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset)

Dear Hilary, Sorry your mum has been unable to return home and hope she is happy in her new environment. It is so thoughtful of you to let us know how the care was for your mum and stepdad.
