My father is 94 and lives on his own and is determined to stay in his own home. Being fiercely independent he was, at first, reluctant to have any 'stranger' in his home. Then in September 2019 he finally agreed to have some help and a lovely young woman from Home Instead came 3 times a week to prepare his lunch. He now has a Home Instead carer coming every day. On my every visit he makes some comment about how kind the carers are and how he couldn't do without them. The whole team involved in his care are exemplary and I cannot praise them enough for the difference they have made to my father's life. Thank you to the whole team.
Thank you so much for taking the time to add a review about us. We are delighted to read how well your father is doing and how much he enjoys having his caregivers visit him. We love receiving feedback and always seek to improve so please do get in contact if we can help in any other way.
Home Instead are not the cheapest home care provider in Taunton but my goodness do they provide value for money. Although my fiercely independent ninety-six-year-old mother was initially extremely reluctant to have any help, she is very happy with her care team and beginning to enjoy life to the full. From their constant monitoring through to daily updates on Mum’s health and well-being, I can’t rate them highly enough.
Thank you so much for your review we are so pleased to hear that your mother is happy and our service is reassuring for you. Please feel free to call our office anytime if we can help in any way.
It's incredible how all these carers can do so much in their specified time allowance - without the quality of their work diminishing. It cannot be accidental that despite their various ages and personalities, there has not been one Home Instead representative I have not been happy to welcome into my home. They are a very genial band, and competent too, making my day feel safe and more organised without losing the touch of friendliness they generate.
Thank you very much for taking the time to post these words, it is wonderful to hear how happy you are with your caregivers and with our service. Please let us know if we can help in any other way or if you feel we can improve further.
Home Instead makes this possible.
Now we are allowed out my mother has been out with the Home Instead carers which is something she has missed doing.
I get to see my mother at least once a week and receive regular feedback from the carers visiting twice a day.
Home Instead arranges for prescriptions to be collected and delivered, takes mom to doctors appointments, does mom's shopping and a host of other things.
Thank you very much for your review we are delighted to hear how much your mother enjoys going out with her caregivers and how we are able to help by collecting prescriptions and taking your mother to appointments etc. As always please let us know if we can help in any other way.
I have been highly impressed with Home Instead from the first phone call requesting information, to the initial assessment and then the quality of tailored support that was provided. When a significant health issue arose earlier in the year, Home Instead were very responsive and dealt with the issue sensitively and professionally. The cost is a little more than other local providers but you get what you pay for and I really can't speak highly enough of them.
Thank you very much for your review, we are absolutely delighted to hear your feedback. I will share this with our team. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do at all.
From all the Team at Home Instead
The staff are very knowledgeable and do a fantastic job.
The carers from Home Instead were exemplary. Mum was extremely frail and sad following my father's death. The carers enabled her to stay in the home she loved during the Covid pandemic, which meant that I, as her daughter, could also visit her. She loved their company and nothing was too much trouble. I was always informed if they had any concerns and I knew she was well cared for, by trustworthy people.
Dear Sue, Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review for us. I am so pleased that your Mum was well cared for by our team.
The ladies from Home Instead have been a great support to my mother and the family. Mum's care needs have changed over time and everyone has responded to this. She has enjoyed her trips out, playing dominoes at home, all the chats and her walks in the park while no other outings have been possible. Thank you for being able to provide more help over the past year when Mum couldn't go out to shop. Living at a distance to my mother obviously has meant I cannot do things for her so it has been comforting to know others do. The app is wonderful for knowing what is happening during the visits too.
Thank you very much for your review. We are so pleased to hear how our Home Instead ladies are helping your mother, it's super to hear how happy she is and that our support is providing peace of mind for you too. We are always here to help so please don't hesitate to contact us. From Vanessa.
A truly caring and compassionate organisation, from care givers to office based staff to the owners. Whoever you deal with go above and beyond to help, even in the most difficult of situations with frequently changing needs. They just “get it” and can offer support and suggestions to help a loved one remain in their own home, living as independently as possible. It is very reassuring to know they are in good hands and having such confidence in the team leads to my only disappointment and that is Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset) is not really set up to provide twenty four hour care on a long term basis if this is needed. That would be the ideal.
Thank you very much for your review, we are so pleased to hear how we helped your Aunt and we also appreciate your thoughts on us providing more 24/7 care. Thank you again.
Sensitive handling of dementia sufferer by mature care staff who always went the extra mile to ensure her comfort. The family always felt confident that she was safe in the care givers' hands and that the back up administration at Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset) was always available if necessary.
Thank you very much for your comments and for taking the time to review us. I am so pleased that our caregivers were able to help and that you as a family member felt confident that your loved one was in safe hands.
Most impressed with the service provided. Well supported after two months in hospital and during the virus epidemic. I look forward to seeing somebody every day and they are all very friendly and kind. The highlight of my day as I have not seen any family for one year. (Two briefly when discharged)
Thank you for taking the time in providing us with your feedback. I am so pleased our support is making a difference to you.
Home Instead has been providing support to my mother for the past year. She is extremely happy with the service provided and this gives me confidence that she can continue to live an independent lifestyle. Home Instead have been very reactive to any changes in her circumstances providing additional or reduced support as necessary. The communication between the carers is excellent which ensures continuity of care no matter which carer is allocated to each session. Their willingness to undertake not only personal care but cleaning and shopping tasks as required ensures that her slightest worries are taken care of.
I cannot speak highly enough for the compassion, empathy and service provided by the Home Instead team. Both management and the care providers take a personal interest in my mother and her care needs. They are always at the end of the phone when I need help and advice and my mum really enjoys the interaction and kindness provided by everybody involved. Heartfelt thanks to all.
We have enjoyed long, continuous care by the same caregivers. It is very comforting that they know our needs so well.
The Staff have gone beyond and above to help us with linking into other services as well on behalf of our Father which has alleviated the time, stress and anxiety for us. Thank you so much Home Instead!
My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a while ago, having successfully hidden her problems from me for quite some time. I found it quite difficult to accept, and it took some time for our children to persuade me that some assistance was required. Home Instead were recommended to me by a friend and started visiting, giving companionship to my wife, and after I got used to the idea, giving me a chance to take a break. I was most impressed by the initial contact, where what I needed was discussed, particularly with the principle of a small group caring for my wife, who could be challenging. I also got a lot of help in understanding what was happening to my wife from the ladies who cared for her. I could not be more impressed by the quality of care and advice given, or by the relationship which developed between my wife and individual carers. The admin staff were excellent in contacting me regularly to check that I was happy with the service. The monthly newsletter was also nice to see.
I would like to say a big thank you to carers and the office team for their continued support for my lovely Mum. She has had a very difficult time over the last few years, in and out of hospital, a stroke etc but I cannot praise everyone enough for the care, support and kindness they give her. She looks forward to seeing her carers for help and of course a chat in these difficult challenging times of Covid. I cannot praise her main carer enough, she has become a friend who makes sure Mum is always comfortable, safe and happy. Excellent service! Keep up the good work.
I would recommend Home Instead Senior Care (Taunton & West Somerset) to friends and family. They seem to be well managed and the visits well coordinated. The care they provide to mum makes me feel she is safe and looked after.
I have always been kept well informed of concerns/developments with my parents, and urgent care has been provided each time there has been a need.
There has been a consistency in the caregivers, so my parents see familiar faces daily.
I have been extremely impressed by the overall care that Home Instead has provided, and will always be very grateful to the friendly and professional nature of all staff members. Thank you.
I am particularly impressed with the office staff. They are very friendly and extremely helpful. Being disabled I get the extra care and consideration I need from the caregivers who visit me. It is very important to me that they understand my disabilities and they all do that.

Mark has worked as a GP in Somerset for 30 years. During this time, he also worked for the government as an advisor on health policies and worked in industry-leading hospitals, diagnostic units, pathology and social care services such as home care.
Working in Home Care is what Mark is most passionate about. Ensuring that everyone has the best care, support and independent life where they are happiest can make such a positive impact on families. It has always been his motivation to get to know people and try and enable them to have the best life in their own homes for as long as they would like to continue to be supported.

One of his previous patients came up to him to thank him for all the support and kindness that he had shown during tough times all those years ago. The impact of his support had stayed with him all those years.
