My husband is being supported by Right at Home at the dementia friendship group on alternate Fridays. This group is small and ideal for people struggling with dementia. They have been kind, considerate and caring and put a lot of thought into activities. My husband loves going to the group.

Reply from Christopher Tansley, Managing Director at Right at Home Nottingham (South)

Thank you Helen for your kind words, we have a lot of fun in the group and they have built some lasting friendships.

My husband has participated in the dementia friendship group for a number of months now. Immediately from his first session, as soon as he walked through the door, I could tell that he felt at ease and welcome in the 'home from home' atmosphere. The group take part in a range of activities which are inclusive and enjoyable; staff make an effort to include activities that are of a special interest and significance to the attendees. These sessions are of a great benefit to both my husband and myself. I feel reassured that he is spending a happy three hours while I, as his main carer, have the opportunity for respite.

Thank you! We love being around your husband's smile and enthusiasm to put a group band together. You deserve your respite.

My dad is still accessing Right at Home services. Right at Home, Nottingham, came to the house and talked to Mum and Dad and family about offering support for Dad, to set targets and make a plan for ongoing projects. This could also include help with medication and creating a health care plan, when needed. The theory behind this, is that cognitive stimulation involving people with dementia, in planning and participation, can slow down the symptoms of the condition. My dad has always been active and kept up with modern changes in technology, communities and construction. This service enables our parents to be socially independent of their immediate family. It gives them their own purpose, keeps them cognitively stimulated, a sense of value, flashes of fun, enjoyment, a break from each other and respite from the monotony of getting old and most of all it gives them opportunity to live life, despite the difficulties old age is throwing at them.

Right at Home has provided much needed respite care and support to me and my husband who has the middle stages of Dementia. They have supported my husband by allowing him to continue doing a sport he loves. This has given me much-needed time, to do something I like doing, with a little time apart to recharge my batteries! I am extremely grateful to the Right at Home team who have shown to be friendly, knowledgeable and have an understanding of both our needs during this difficult time.

Right at Home Nottingham are a very reliable and professional group. I am my husband's carer and I started to take him to a class in July once a month, for now, I can leave him there for three hours, and not worry about him, he enjoys his time there and he has made friends, the staff are so good with him, they play games and sing, and I can do what I like for that time. I fully recommend Right at Home.

Right at Home cared for my stepdad until his death in April 2021 and then for Mum. The carers were brilliant, Mum looked forward to their visits each morning and saw them as friends, she felt comfortable with them in her home and built good relationships with everyone in the team who cared for her. It was lovely to see so many of her carers at her funeral.

The service they provide is very personalised, they are like an extended family to us. They know what works best for my uncle and they can tell immediately if he isn't himself or maybe unwell. All staff at Right at Home go above and beyond to give my uncle and our family the very best service, the happiness and care that they provide to my uncle, we will be forever grateful for.

I joined Right At Home last year at the end of the lockdown. After all the agencies that we had interviewed, this was the only one to ask me the questions which I really appreciated. After being with them for a few months and after building a working relationship with the ladies, I have been able to do the activities I enjoy doing such as getting out in the community, shopping, and meeting friends. I would recommend this agency to my friends and family.

The wonderful staff at Right at Home have been visiting my mother for the last 7 months.
She is 88 years old and badly affected by the pandemic and has been isolating since March last year. As we have no family in Nottingham the carers have been an invaluable source of company for her 5 days a week. All the ladies that visit have been lovely to Mum and are patient and very caring.

It is with regret that we feel it's time for mum to receive more care that only a residential home can provide. We would recommend Right at Home to anyone needing support for elderly family or friends.

The Right at Home team in West Bridgford has exceeded my expectations from the first enquiry and phone call with their helpful office team, through to the fantastic support provided daily by the care team for my Dad. My Dad's needs changed very suddenly after having a stroke and Covid, and we quickly needed to find support for him at home. The Right at Home team has helped us provide the daily support and care he needs. They have made helpful suggestions and worked as part of a team with our family, with excellent communication. They are always happy to receive feedback and want to provide the best support they can. The care team are always friendly and positive with my Dad and our family and have shown great care and empathy supporting him at some difficult times. They are also encouraging and positive in helping him regain his independence. I feel confident that we have made the right choice choosing Right at Home for my Dad.

Last summer I thoroughly researched local care companies to find the best care for my dad in his home, his care needs were increasing but he was not willing to accept non-family care at that time. Right at Home was on top of my short-list, having read the CQC reports, reviews, websites and spoken to all the local companies.
Sadly in January, our dad's health deteriorated when he suffered a stroke, he required increased care. After immediate support from the NHS teams to enable Dad to be discharged, my sister contacted Right at Home and 2 other local care companies.

Right from the start Right at Home have been fantastic. We wanted the best care for our wonderful dad. Everyone at Right at Home has been absolutely brilliant in supporting Dad's care to best suit him(and us) at this time. Right at Home are currently providing 4 visits a day, the team are so caring, with a range of skills and abilities I am so thankful for their hard work, efforts and our new extended family of caregivers.

Right At Home have provided wonderful support to two family members for a few years now. One a vulnerable disabled gentleman with mobility issues and speech difficulties, requiring personal care support 3 times every day. The other a 96-year-old lady with reduced mobility and mild dementia, determined to live independently in her own home for as long as possible. Both tell me how lovely all their carers are; I have also found carers and managers to be approachable, knowledgeable, professional and responsible, especially in an emergency. As needs change, care packages are developed, always tailored to individual needs. This has included accompanied visits to shops, social clubs or healthcare appointments, help to make a meal and domiciliary care, reminders to shave or to take medication, or even just enjoying a chat together to brighten the day. Lockdown has been especially challenging for my family; knowing that Right at Home are caring for them has taken a weight off my mind. Highly recommended.

The carers who visit my dad are always on time and complete all the allocated tasks. They have a person-centred approach and make my dad feel at ease. Every day my dad tells me he looks forward to their visits and says “they can’t do enough”. I was initially anxious about having carers visit my dad but I am more than sure that it was the right choice. The carers who visit my dad are a credit to Right at Home.

A great team that pays attention to feedback and adjusts the care plan accordingly. It's good to have help from this friendly team who provide much needed support as well as offering advice and ideas on how to achieve a result that works for both the patient and the carer. I'll definitely be making more use of their services as Mum's condition progresses.

We have been using Right at Home (Nottingham) since 2018 when my mother had a serious stroke, affecting her speech, mobility and ability to use her right hand. From the onset, the staff have been incredibly professional, thorough, compassionate and communicative. The carers are coming in twice a day to administer medication and assist with activities of daily living with some housework. We are eternally grateful for the care she is receiving daily. The manager has almost become part of our family as we feel we can call, update and chat anytime. Highly recommend.

Starting Right at Home Nottingham has been a pleasure and honour, as being an active part of my local community in Nottingham is something I have always aimed for.

For over 20 years I have built up a huge level of experience in the franchise business sector. After running a successful cleaning and restoration agency in the East Midlands I became a national franchise business consultant; helping others along the path of business ownership. It was here I found Right at Home.

The one thing my businesses have shared is ‘people’ – motivated, competent, caring people that I’ve worked with, as well as people who’ve needed a helping hand to fix their homes and those who have needed guidance and help in their careers. It’s fair to say my passion is in people and it is the sole reason why I knew that Right at Home was the perfect opportunity for me. Almost anyone can act the part as a business owner, but I know that to work so closely in your community and to touch the lives of others, you have to possess a genuine desire to help people.

I have always had a strong understanding and empathy for care; my mother was a Nurse in Nottingham’s QMC Hospital so it’s something that I have been a part of from a young age. My father has always played a key role in our community and is someone I look up to and respect. We’ve always been a close family and I think the skills to nurture relationships and to listen to others have definitely been passed down through the generations.

At Right at Home Nottingham I am dedicated to providing my community with the best home care services, to suit the lives and the needs of people’s loved ones. I am lucky to have the full support of my whole family - my wife, two sons and my parents.

Being the best we can be is in our family bones and I aim to offer the best home care, be it enabling independence for an octogenarian, providing short-term post-operative care to help someone back on their feet, or complex specialist care.

Whatever your needs, the team at Right at Home and I will be there to help.
