We have just started with live-in care from Right at home Nottingham for my mum who has dementia and difficulties with walking which has been a very difficult time for my Dad. It was great to get a text off my Dad on day one saying that the carer was lovely. Mum took to her straight away and she would be a great fit into their home. We still have some way to go but it has been a great start at a worrying time.
As I stood on my doorstep on Thursday to applaud the key workers of our country, my thoughts were with our Right at Home Team. They have been our rock for the past 13 months, providing round-the-clock care to an elderly lady, who is both physically and mentally frail, but whose over-riding wish is to remain in her own home for as long as possible. The Care Givers are professional, but also kind and patient. They have coped exceptionally well with the restrictions brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic. They have been able to explain, often more than once, why it is no longer possible to attend the hairdressers, go for afternoon tea or to receive visitors. They have established an, albeit restricted, routine and have provided distractions when the more serious news stories are broadcast. So, this Thursday, I will be applauding again for all our key workers - but especially all the Right at Home staff.
My Mother-in-Law is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. Formerly very active, both mentally and physically, she is beginning to lose her 'drive' and suffers from short-term memory loss. Care At Home are providing valuable support, both in terms of home visits and shopping, but also taking her to social and sports events, which she loves but no longer feels confident in attending by herself. They have been very helpful in trying to maintain her spirit and optimism through a difficult time as she tries to come to terms with her increasing frailty.
I consider we were very fortunate in finding such an excellent care-provider at our very first attempt. Needless to say, I can highly recommend them.
Very friendly carers, pleasant, helpful and nice to know.
My friend is so well supported by all of her Carers from Right at Home Nottingham. They provide excellent care in a very professional and friendly manner. My friend needs a high level of care in order to be able to continue living an active, happy life in her own home. She likes things to be done in a certain way and all of the Carers take her wishes into account when delivering the care. She looks forward to her 4 daily care visits, not only because she needs the physical support but also for the lovely chats and friendships she has with the Carers. The Carers also provide emotional support when this is needed. The office team are all helpful when she needs to make arrangements for appointments etc and accommodate one-off requests for last minute visits due to her circumstances. I know she is in safe hands with Right at Home and we would both have no hesitation in recommending them to others.
Amazing care company and I am going to recommend this to so many family members. The staff there are so helpful.
Since starting with the service we have no problems, everyone has been very good and always on time.
I felt it was time for my mum who lives on her own and doesn’t get many visitors for a little more help, not in a caring way but more companionship as she’s very lonely, Right at Home come once a week, and mum enjoys the company, they take her out anywhere she wants and always make sure she has had a meal, taking the pressure off me! Who knows what will happen in the future, we may need extra help, we wouldn’t hesitate to ask for more visits with Right at Home.
Impressed with the level of care and commitment to the client and taking time to get to know them and catering to their needs.
We have been very pleased with the quality of care and carers provided by the company. My father feels well cared for and likes their visits. I am especially pleased with how the company is really trying to work at helping clients with dementia to be able to stay in their own homes, living well, for longer. If we have had any concerns about anything the company has dealt with them promptly and efficiently. Comprehensive records are kept at all times, so we are always able to read what Dad has been doing and how he has been at each visit, which we find really useful.
Please convey my thanks to the carer who helped my wife who suffered from Parkinson's and Dementia. Caring for my wife had become increasingly difficult. The carer was professional and courteous not only to my wife but also to myself. It was evident that the years of experience was a bonus for my wife and myself. If there were more givers like her our world would be much happier.
I have to add to this message of appreciation that all of the staff from Right At Home have been a pleasure to meet beyond their professionalism.
Right at Home (Nottingham) provided daily care visits for my father which were good and helpful. However, when he needed an increased level of care they were exceptionally helpful in arranging a live-in carer, They spent time finding someone (there were not many options on the timescale we were working to) and supported both him and us to ensure the settling in process was as easy as possible. Nothing has been too much trouble and we always feel that if we need help/advice/information etc the management team will be there to offer it. When a different live-in carer was required they again have provided someone who is caring and diligent. Thank you.
Mum was treated with the utmost care and dignity at all times. She was challenging at times but whenever possible the care team allowed her to make her own choice making her feel more in control of her dementia.
Recently her cat died and her carer came back in her break with a spade to bury it at the bottom of the garden and bought her a plant to go over the grave. That's going the extra mile.
I know if I have any concerns, I can ring for advice, help, or just a chat about how she is. The peace of mind this gives me and not having to worry about her situation is fantastic.
My first contact with Right at Home was in 2014 when an elderly neighbour sustained a fall after which he was unable to walk and as his wife was frail, developing dementia and there is no family, the firm provided support. Over the following 3 years, the ongoing care has been fantastic; 2 carers have visited 3 times a day and have always been totally reliable and treated the gentleman with kindness and respect. Their help has gone far beyond what was scheduled eg. the client has been taken to hospital appointments in wheelchair-adapted transport. When his wife was hospitalised, carers visited her in their own time and she also benefitted greatly from daily visits from a dementia specialist from the firm. When she died, the support we received from the firm was of the highest standard. The client now has a live-in carer for whom nothing is too much trouble and the gentleman, now in his 90's, is flourishing. I have been most grateful for the firm's advice and support throughout.
Right at Home have been providing care for my father over the last few months. What has particularly impressed me has been their responsiveness to any changes in care needs - as well as respect for dignity and ensuring as much independence as possible for those needing care.
Right at home have proved to be an excellent choice of care provider for our parents. All of the staff are very friendly, helpful, professional and understanding to their needs. They, have also proved to be very flexible and accommodating when we have needed extra care, particularly when one of our parents has been in hospital. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who has elderly parents or relatives that need care in their own home.
The Right at Home staff has always had my mother's best interests at heart and have tried to accommodate their visits with how she wants to live her life. Not only is she well looked after but the care over her home has been wonderful. My mother is always nicely dressed and the house is always clean and tidy no matter what time of day I drop in.
Being in her own home and having the support of the Right at Home carers, my mother is still able to join in with village life, whether that be the local coffee morning, village fete or church on a Sunday. She still has her hair done by her usual hairdresser and the carers arrange appointments for eye tests, chiropodist and anything else she needs. Trips out have also included the local panto, Christmas parties and Attenborough Nature Reserve.
Having peace of mind that my mother is safe and happy is great.
The staff talk to my son and not at him, over the time that Right At Home have been visiting my son, his speech has improved more than while he was undergoing speech therapy after his accident.

Meet the Team (2)
Starting Right at Home Nottingham has been a pleasure and honour, as being an active part of my local community in Nottingham is something I have always aimed for.
For over 20 years I have built up a huge level of experience in the franchise business sector. After running a successful cleaning and restoration agency in the East Midlands I became a national franchise business consultant; helping others along the path of business ownership. It was here I found Right at Home.
The one thing my businesses have shared is ‘people’ – motivated, competent, caring people that I’ve worked with, as well as people who’ve needed a helping hand to fix their homes and those who have needed guidance and help in their careers. It’s fair to say my passion is in people and it is the sole reason why I knew that Right at Home was the perfect opportunity for me. Almost anyone can act the part as a business owner, but I know that to work so closely in your community and to touch the lives of others, you have to possess a genuine desire to help people.
I have always had a strong understanding and empathy for care; my mother was a Nurse in Nottingham’s QMC Hospital so it’s something that I have been a part of from a young age. My father has always played a key role in our community and is someone I look up to and respect. We’ve always been a close family and I think the skills to nurture relationships and to listen to others have definitely been passed down through the generations.
At Right at Home Nottingham I am dedicated to providing my community with the best home care services, to suit the lives and the needs of people’s loved ones. I am lucky to have the full support of my whole family - my wife, two sons and my parents.
Being the best we can be is in our family bones and I aim to offer the best home care, be it enabling independence for an octogenarian, providing short-term post-operative care to help someone back on their feet, or complex specialist care.
Whatever your needs, the team at Right at Home and I will be there to help.
