Recently their situation has change slightly so adjustments to the care requirements was necessary. This was carried out very swiftly, with a member of the management team visiting our parents to discuss current care and extra visits. A couple of time management issues were also discussed and followed up.
All staff arrive on time, are very friendly and up to date with current care needs. Some do go the extra mile to get to know mum and dad better. Any new members of staff are always introduced by a current carer.
As family with power of attorney we are always kept up to date with care and any issues.
Thank you so much for your kind review. It's good to hear the time management issues were followed up successfully. We're really pleased the care is working well for your parents and helping them to continue to live well at home.
We were very satisfied with the service provided. The companionship care package was excellent for providing my mother with some company and mental stimulation. The carers also helped with some food preparation and other small tasks around the house.
Claire and Patrick have been very helpful and always very kind and caring.
The office staff have also been excellent, enabling the service provided to be responsive and flexible. Any requests that we have made are soon dealt with and put into practice.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the services provided by Home Instead (Mid Cornwall).
Thankyou so much for your kind review - It's lovely to hear that everything is working well and helping your mum live well at home.
About 3 years ago,we desperately needed to find a care provider for my Mum.Home Instead were the only ones that could provide that care straight away which was a huge relief as I live hundreds of miles away. They quickly made Mum feel at ease and adapted to her specific wants and needs. She was treated as an individual with absolute respect and kindness.Soon afterwards we needed help for my Dad too and the team at Home Instead bent over backwards to put an extra care package in for Dad as well.My Dad was very resistant to the help initially but their patience, good humour and total empathy put him at ease. They kept us up to date with great communication, reacting and adapting to every little change that occurred with Mum and Dad's needs.Sadly Dad passed away 6 months later but we all felt so supported throughout that time.Home Instead remain with Mum to this day and allow her to remain independent and happy in her own home.Thank you to all the team, but especially Sandra, who's amazing!
Rebecca, Thank you so much for your lovely review. It means a great deal to the team and we'll pass on your kind words to them, especially Sandra!
Home Instead have put our minds at ease from the very start from enquiring about my grans needs, supplying us with as much information about what they can provide and how they can cater for us best. Nothing was too much trouble for them. When it came to setting up the care plan to suit my grans needs, every detail was taken care of. We're now a few months down the line and we still cannot fault them. They email us with any queries and never hesitate to call and we all sleep easier at night knowing gran has an excellent care package in place. They are always contactable, even out of hours if we ever need to get hold of them.
Thankyou so much for your kind words. It's lovely to hear the care is working well and your Gran is able to enjoy her life at home.
Home Instead (Mid Cornwall) provides truly outstanding care in your own home. All of the carers that work with Mum are very professional and efficient, but also incredibly kind, friendly and sensitive. The care given is very much tailored to the individual and the carers are happy to pitch in wherever needed. They are totally reliable, always arriving on time, as scheduled. Mum genuinely enjoys the visits, as the carers not only get the job done, but are also lovely people to chat to - there are plenty of laughs! The staff in the office are very helpful and supportive, easy to contact and very flexible when needed. Mum is delighted with the care she is receiving and we would not hesitate to recommend the team.
Thank you so much for your kind review. It's great to hear there are plenty of laughs and that your Mum enjoys the visits!
The care team who looked after my sister in law made a huge difference to her life. They restored her confidence and with visits lasting an hour each time there was no need to rush through each task. The continuity of the carers was well thought out and this also gave me peace of mind. Would certainly recommend Home Instead - and already have - to anyone who wanted an exceptional care team. Care with a capital C from this company.
Thank you so much for your kind words. They are a lovely description of what we do!
Home Instead (Mid Cornwall) has been very obliging and helpful since I contacted them for some help with my husbands care. We were visited at home and my husbands needs assessed and a plan made. Great care was taken to ensure that my husband and his carers made a good fit and got on well. When I needed to increase the hours of help, we were accommodated very quickly. We regularly meet with the manager to check if any changes need to be made and that we are happy with the service. We are more than satisfied and grateful to Home Instead for their professionalism and compassion across the board.
Thankyou for you lovely review of what our Caregivers provide, and the support from the office team.
New carers were always introduced so that he knew who was coming on a particular day and every carer took the time to talk to him, showing an interest in his stories and what he was doing..
I recommend Home Instead (Mid Cornwall) without reservation.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and for saying such kind words about the Caregivers who visited your brother. They enjoyed spending time with him and we are glad he was able to stay living at home.
The staff are polite and caring and treated both my mum and dad with respect and kindness.
I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone; from the office staff to the carers.
Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to leave a review. It has been a privilege helping your mum and dad live at home.
When we decided to look for a little care for mum we were recommended Home Instead in St. Austell. Mum was really apprehensive and didn't really want any help and especially in her home. We had a trial run and the team came out to assess mums needs, she now looks forward to seeing the carers. They bring a bit of sunshine to mum's days whether it is first thing in the morning or giving her tea in the evenings. The chats, caring, and assistance is second to none. Mum loves their visits. If anytime we needed to make changes to her care package due to extra needs, everything possible was done to achieve this. It is such a caring company and it helps the family with caring for mum.
Thankyou so much for your kind review. The caregivers really enjoy seeing her and we're really pleased the visits are helping her to enjoy her life at home.
Due to suffering some falls and then breaking a foot, I reluctantly moved Mum into a care home recently but I will always be so grateful to Home Instead (Mid Cornwall) staff and would definitely recommend them as an option for care.
Thank you so much for you kind words. Your mum is lovely and the caregivers always enjoyed seeing her. We were very glad to hear she had successfully made the move into a home nearby.
Sadly we recently lost Mum and I will have eternal gratitude for the end-of-life care she received from Home Instead.
Thank You Home Instead. Full 100.
Thank you so much for your very kind words. Your Mum was a lovely lady and the caregivers all valued seeing her. We were really pleased she managed to be in her beloved own home again for her last few days after leaving hospital.
Home Instead have always had a positive reputation in the local area and having met the owner as he set up the business I could clearly see his passion and care for people, which is essential when running a business that focuses on health and social care. Over time Home Instead have cared for my aunt, who has been positive about the care received and the support on offer. I continue to hear positive things about Home Instead and often recommend them to people who are looking for care and support.
Thank you very much for your kind words. It was good to hear your aunt has settled in well to her new home.
I live some distance from my mum, who has lived on her own for more than 20 years and is very independent.
They put my mum first, got to know her, and spent time talking to her. They helped Mum with what she wanted help with, and built up her trust by listening to her and working to her agenda, not theirs. As Mum's dementia got worse she relied more upon them but they knew her likes and dislikes and spent time with her so she felt like she was valued and safe.
Great communication, the online portal and daily task notes kept me informed on Mum's state of mind, health and activities. Appropriate phone calls for urgent contact and emails when less urgent.
When circumstances change e.g. stay in hospital, a deterioration in her dementia, increase in help needed, Home Instead helped me by adapting the services they provided giving me advice and the support I needed.
I would recommend their services without hesitation.
Thank you so much for your kind review about Home Instead Care. It is great for the care team in the office and the care professionals to hear how well the service works.
Home Instead absolutely came to my rescue! Recommended by a family member who is a community nurse, this wonderful organisation provided the short-term support I needed after several weeks of home nursing. My husband’s health was slowly improving but it was reassuring to have a friendly and competent carer to supervise showering and, to my delight, to carry out light household tasks such as ironing. I was able to leave the house for a short while. Right from the initial home assessment visit, the process was easy, and the staff was professional, caring and friendly. Home Instead was there in our hour of need. Highly recommended - thank you.
Thank you so much for your very kind words. It's lovely for the team to hear the care is working so well. We hope your husband's health continues to improve.
Because of this support, Mum is able to continue to live independently and very happily in Cornwall where she grew up.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're really pleased to hear her care is working well and your mother is continuing to enjoy living at home.
Home Instead has provided an excellent service over the past four years. From a personal point of view, being over two hundred miles away from my friend, she suffers from epilepsy and short-term memory loss resulting from strokes and I need the assurance of knowing she is in safe, caring hands. I have never doubted the quality of service offered by both caregivers and management. On occasion, when there has been cause for concern for my friend's well-being, I have been notified immediately. Both of us have always found the caregivers to be patient, personable and of good humour. Duties have included; chores around the home, assisting in computer-communication with family members, shopping expeditions and hospital appointments. Of huge importance, the service has provided warm and understanding human companionship, invaluable in sustaining independent living.
The care reports are always comprehensive so as a relative I know how the client is and the tasks completed.
I can always contact the office-based staff by email and phone. Communication with them is always helpful and informative. I also know they will contact me if there is a problem or they feel something needs to be changed

Meet the Team (3)
Hi, my name is Claire, and I am the Registered Care Manager here at Home Instead Mid Cornwall.
I have worked in care for the past twelve years, mainly in the community.
I joined Home Instead as a part-time CAREGiver whilst working full time for a charity providing palliative care to terminally ill patients. In August 2017, I joined fulltime as a Team leader and then became Care Co-ordinator at the beginning of 2018. I have been Care Manager since October 2018 and in 2020 I completed my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health and Social Care.
My role is to lead and manage Care Operations, working closely with our Care Co-ordinator Libby, Field Care Co-ordinator Rhiannon and our Senior CAREGivers to provide our high quality, relationship-based care for the people we look after in St Austell, Wadebridge, Bodmin, Tywardreath and Par, Lostwithiel and Fowey.
I love animals and have rescued many rabbits. In my spare time, I enjoy doing crafts, drawing and reading.
Hi, my name is Patrick Hughes and I am the Director of the Mid Cornwall office. After a 25 year career in finance in the city, it is great to be providing a service that makes a real, positive difference to people’s lives and contributing to the local community.
My role is to meet people in the community to let them know what we can offer, and see how we can help. I also help with recruitment of CAREGivers and manage the business side.
Members of my family have been involved in working in care and I have seen and heard much about the challenges the care sector is facing both for clients and people working as carers. Home Instead’s mission is to become the UK's most admired Care Company through changing the face of ageing and is at the forefront of changing people’s perception and experience of what home care choices are available, and of what it is like to work as a CAREGiver.
It is a great privilege to have opened an office with them five years ago, and I am looking forward to growing our team further providing Home Instead Senior Care’s unique, companionship led, personalised care to our clients in Mid Cornwall.
In my spare time, I like swimming, walking Kezia (a very spoiled cocker spaniel!) and being outside in the garden.
