Right at Home (Portsmouth)

Having worked for over 30 years in the aerospace industry, I decided it was time for a change and to aim for a better quality of life for not just me and my family but those in the community around us.

Becoming a Right at Home owner has helped me to achieve just that. The important things in life for me are family and faith. I am married to Madeline and we have been blessed with four daughters and six grandchildren. I am an active member of my local church and help with different ministries, including visiting the sick, elderly and vulnerable in their homes and providing transport when required. I also coordinate our church’s contributions to the local foodbank.

I have a passion for helping people particularly the most vulnerable in our society. Right at Home Portsmouth has given me the opportunity to transform my compassion for caring into my daily job as well as creating the space in my life for more active voluntary activity within the local community.

My family are very important to me as is living my Christian Faith.

I have been married to my husband Joe for 40 years and we have been blessed with four wonderful daughters: Ciara, Rachel, Emma and Niamh. We also have six grandchildren We are all the proud owners of our flat-coated retriever ‘Alphie’ who is keeps us all on our toes!

My professional qualifications include:

A NVQ Diploma Level 3
Primary teaching
Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care.

In terms of my personality I am caring, hard working, a good listener, loyal and have a good sense of humour. When I give care, it is crucial for me to make my clients feel happy and secure. The ultimate reward is knowing that I have made a difference (even if a small one) to their lives.

Hi I'm Gabrielle and I am originally from the Isle of Wight, my partner James and I recently brought a house in Portsmouth.

Horse riding is a big part of my life; I have been riding since I was 5 years old. I even have my own horse called Woody.

I enjoy socialising with friends, going to festivals, travelling and seeing new things.

My friends and family would say that I have a composed attitude and great organisational skills when planning social events.

I am always seeking to gain new qualifications by doing different courses alongside my current role.

Making someone smile is enough to tell me I’ve made a positive impact on their day.

Hi I'm Emma, I'm one of  Madeline and Joe's four daughters. My sisters are my best friends and spending time with my family is so important to me.

I love to keep up with my health and fitness. I am a member of my local Slimming World club, I train frequently at the gym and I am a keen runner, having completed the 2018 and 2019 Great South Run.

If my friends and family were to describe me, they would say I'm super caring with a great positive mental attitude. Making a difference to someone else's day is enough reward for me in my role.

Also, I am hoping to complete some qualifications in care and maybe pursue a university degree in the future.

As the Marketing and Recruitment Coordinator at Right at Home Portsmouth, I have the privilege of connecting compassionate caregivers with meaningful careers and helping families find high-quality care they can trust.

With a background in communications, digital content and customer service, I love connecting people. I’m passionate about showcasing the heart behind our service, ensuring every candidate and client feels valued from the very first interaction. I take pride in creating content and campaigns that reflect our values, and in building a team of dedicated CareGivers who truly make a difference every day.

Outside of work, I’m vegan and love experimenting with new plant-based recipes to share on my Instagram recipe page. I find joy in nature, music festivals, reading, coastal walks and cooking - all the things that help me recharge and stay creative.
