I was commissioned by the PoA of the service user to source good quality domiciliary care for a very elderly gentleman living with dementia where relationships within the family were extremely difficult. The General Manager and Care Manager at Home Instead Wembley responded immediately to an urgent need for care for two days per week. They took the time to understand my client's needs and provided a comprehensive, person-centered care plan. It was a revelation to the wider family to see my client's carer actively supporting and facilitating him to do everyday tasks such as preparing meals and engaging in conversation which he had enjoyed so much in the past, rather than excluding him which his previous carer had done. The carer was well trained in providing dementia friendly care but was perhaps a little inexperienced to deal well with the family dynamics. However, the management of the carer and of the service was excellent, responsive and professional.

Overall Experience
Without the support of the Home Instead team, I would not be able to keep my dad in the stable and comfortable state he is in.

Home Instead team of management and carers go that extra mile to accommodate any extra care that we need. Nothing ever is too much for them. They not only care for my dad but also do small things (thoughtful gestures) that make my carer's role that little bit easier.

Overall Experience
My father is extremely independent and has few friends, none of whom are within the local area. I initially needed someone to drop by on a daily basis while I was away on business, but my father was not keen on someone coming in to see him. Although I and others kept in daily touch with him by phone, it was important that someone could see him in person in order to ensure that he was not in any difficulties and had not fallen and was hiding his injuries. Home Instead were swift to make all of the necessary arrangements, making checks and enquiries into his living conditions, personal abilities, the family history and his personal likes and dislikes. The Home Instead companion built up a good rapport with dad, and a second companion was introduced prior to another trip, visiting dad daily. This has been very successful, and my father looked forward to the visits. I also had peace of mind, knowing he was safe.

Weekly visits are now in place, and I can highly recommend Home Instead.

Overall Experience

Using this agency to help with the care of my mother in the capacity of transport to and from the hospital and other appointments, shopping and other related activities have relieved the great pressure on me, enabling me to arrange my days accordingly.

Without the use of Home Instead, I would certainly have had to give up my own work and probably my mother would not be able to live independently. I am so grateful for their help and would have no hesitation in recommending the brilliant staff, who never let me down. Well done to all.
