Constantly changing staff at short notice, so longer waiting times between visits.
My sister is a diabetic, so she is often having high or low BMs due to the fluctuating way staff arrives.
Appearing not to understand what anxiety does to people when the changes take place at such short notice.
Constantly saying sorry, then just carrying on with same errors etc.
I could go on, but I think it would just be boring.
My sister's comments are in the main positive to the staff that will give her the time to learn about her and her ways (she was a carer herself, so knows the role.) Normally stating that half of the issues seems to be due to a badly run office, and they employ youngsters to keep the costs down.

You change carers constantly sometimes daily. Put on inexpensive carers who are barely adults. Who leave medication in reach of small 4 year old children. Medication which if taken would kill the child. Can't stick to allocated times for calls. Had carers ask 11 year old children to deal with medication. Carers openingly chatting and slagging off clients and their families even by name. Finally, let's not forget Carer left a post it note containing names of each a client including full name, address and even key code labelled out loud Then leave them in another clients home putting them at risk of alsorts. Highly don't recommend unless you want your details or your love one details shared all over.

We have some excellent carers some not so good. I am upset as I read my rota and every time cares are changed around. I like continuity as it is the best for my husband, but today carers have been changed around also tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.

They keep my home clean and tidy, look after my laundry and prepare my food as I ask them to do. They are very cheerful and leave me feeling good a first-class company.

Meet the Team (2)
Julie joined the Respectful Care Rotherham branch in 2017 as a mentor and has worked her way up through the management structure. In December 2020, Julie was promoted to Registered Care Manager and is looking forward to applying her knowledge on expertise to the role. Julie has a multitude of experience and knows what it takes to lead a management team of, caring, thoughtful, kind, like-minded people.
Julie is very passionate and found her inspiration from her grandparents, who showed her the way of the world. Watching her grandparents and taking in their wisdom, gave Julie the passion that when she was older, she would care for others. The elder generation is a true world of life and while supporting many care needs, she feels a sense of pride in everything we do and aims to give each individual a purpose in life. Julie is proud to be a part of the Respectful Care team and will continue with her passion for providing the highest quality of care to all.
Julie has worked her way up within the sector, having started in activities, spending time as a Care and Support worker, a Mentor, a Staff/Team Leader, and Deputy Manager. Julie is also proud to be working towards her NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Care. Julie is eager to apply her skills and knowledge to lead the team to continue providing excellent person-centred and tailored care for our clients.
Sarah joined Respectful Care Rotherham in December 2017. As a Care and Support worker, Sarah settled well into the company and brought expertise and knowledge into the field as well as focusing on delivering tailored and individualised care to our clients. Sarah brings 17 years of knowledge and experience in the community care sector to the role, with additional previous management experience covering many roles in the nursing home environment.
Sarah has flourished in her role and found her passion in dementia and elderly care, meaning that in every role since then, she has strived to encourage a sense of purpose, choice, and independence for those living with dementia. Sarah has the well-being of all staff at the top of her priority, as mental health is a big part of the care industry, for both clients and our carers alike.
Respectful Care has recognised Sarah's devotion and drive as well as her management expertise, Sarah was promoted to Mentor and then again to Staff Team Leader. Since taking on the role of Assistant Manager, Sarah has displayed great team leadership and has proved to be a valued member of the office team.
Sarah looks forward to growing within her new role and focusing on delivering an excellent standard of personalised care to our clients.
