Since then she has had live-in care and it has been (occasionally literally) a lifesaver.
She will be one hundred soon, so we are no "spring chickens" either, and neither we nor other family members live near her, so she relies very much on Home Instead for companionship, care and general help with day-to-day living. As Mum is house-bound and now profoundly deaf she would have great difficulty in communicating by phone or letter, and no longer uses the computer.
Despite her impending century she remains very independently-minded and she finds it a huge comfort to still be in her own home with her own space, belongings and garden, all of which Home Instead care gives.
The cost is expensive, but the care is individual, which would be unlikely in a home (which charges a similar amount).
Thank you so much for writing a review. It's great to hear that your mum is doing so well and her support has been a lifesaver. What an incredible achievement to reach 100 years of age.
My husband and I live in America, so providing home help for my mother-in-law in Wales was a necessity. Home Instead we're easy to work with from the beginning and gave us piece of mind when we could not be there. The caregivers were both professional and comforting in the care that they gave, and we could not express our gratitude or give a higher recognition of this company for all they were able to do for our family during often challenging times.
Most of the carers have proved to be very professional and conscientious in their jobs. Unhappy with the cost increase, above rate of inflation.
Thank you for your review. We are really pleased that you are happy with the care we are providing. Sorry to hear you are unhappy with the price increase, but our staff have benefited from a well-earned pay rise also above the rate of inflation. Best wishes.
We arranged for Mum to receive care in her own home for a period of 15 months between December 2021 and April 2023. She was a very independent lady who feared the prospect of allowing carers into her own home, but quickly appreciated the kindness, care and efficiency of all who came to look after her. Mum was blessed with having a small group of well-matched carers who became genuine friends over the year and provided exactly the level of friendship, care, practical service and support she needed. Communication and flexibility of arrangements was good, often in difficult circumstances and all of our family will always be grateful.
Contacted us when found individual unwell.
One of carers in particular built up trust with a stubborn individual to eventually give personal care when required.
Thank you for your feedback. Is good to hear that our Care Professionals are so valued doing such a fantastic job.
Home Instead have been fantastic in looking after an elderly friend of the family. They are a pleasure to have come in and really brighten up her day. The Care Professionals are kind and thoughtful and no ask is too big for them. They ensure my friend is treated with dignity and respect and endeavour to keep her as independent as possible in her own home. The hour long visits are brilliant as it ensures that she doesn’t feel rushed and she is able to build a good bond with the Care Professionals.
Thank you very much for the feedback. We are delighted that your friend and the family around her is having a great experience with Home Instead. We will always find a way to ensure that your friend has the best quality care she deserves.
Home Instead have been providing care for my dad for several months now. It is the first time he has had to have support from anyone outside the family and I think we all viewed the prospect with trepidation. He has several carers, but 2 main ones - who are both so kind, caring, friendly and professional. It's great to know he is being looked after so well.
Thank you for the fantastic feedback. I have shared this with your fathers Care Professionals.
Home Instead provides three daily visits to my mother. Between us, we agreed an assistance package that has been invaluable to my mother and the family. The package is comprehensive and flexible and is adjusted periodically to suit Mother's needs. She looks forward to the carer visits, enjoys their company, and is being very well looked after. The communication between myself and Home Instead works very smoothly. All calls are answered and follow-up is prompt. Mum's family members all live over 120 miles from her, so 'drop-in' visits are not possible. Hence, the carer visit reports, posted on the app, are invaluable and confirm to us that she is comfortable and receiving first-class daily care.
Thank you for the great feedback on your mother's care. I will share this with the team
I have been happy overall with the care provided. The team are approachable and aim to provide holistic care. I feel at ease that my father-in-law will be cared for. I have been able to arrange last minute care when required.
Thank you for the fantastic feedback for your father-in-law.
Home Instead has been providing care at home for my uncle for around three years. He has benefited hugely from the care and companionship they provide. He has four visits a day and they look after his care completely; washing his clothes, cooking and keeping his house spotless. I live three hours away and rely on the company completely. They are always in touch and any problems are dealt with promptly. Great company, great people. Thank you.
Hi James, thank you for your lovely comments. I will pass this on to the team.
We are very pleased with the care our Mum is receiving. She enjoys the caregivers’ company and appreciates their help and support. The consistency of approach taken and personnel has been key in ensuring this excellent level of care.
My main carer has been a godsend to me from the first day she came to me. Apart from doing all that I ask - she has become a dear friend - over and above the call of duty. She is warm and friendly and a treasure.
The Home Instead team are very organised and professional.
Communication between the provider and the client is excellent.
I cannot thank Home Instead enough for all their help and support. They are an amazing team and are always there to assist with any problems I may have with my mother. My mother did not want anybody to come into her home but having put Home Instead carers in place, she constantly praises the "lovely ladies" that come in to help her and now admits that she couldn't cope without them. They are kind, caring and dedicated staff who treat her with love and respect. They work with you to work out the best needs for the person. They are easy to approach with questions and are always there to reassure and help. By them being there it gives me support which I desperately needed. I would recommend them without hesitation.
Only been using carers for short time, but Home Instead have given myself and my sibling's great peace of mind knowing that their caring, dedicated staff are providing such comfort to my 90-year-old mother, she was initially against having/needing care on discharge from the hospital but is now more than happy to see them each day.
Have found them very reliable and friendly and helpful. My mum gets on really well with the ladies she has visiting her. Have done everything asked of them and really good communication. The office is easy to get hold of with very helpful friendly staff.
The sitting provision has been invaluable to me as a carer to allow time out from caring duties.
All staff involved in the provision of support are excellent.
My 90-year-old Mum speaks highly of the service, the feedback and support for families is second to none.
I would recommend this service without hesitation.
Home Instead (Newport, Cwmbran and Chepstow) provided fantastic care and support for my Mum whilst she was still able to love at home. Staff couldn't do enough for her and she really enjoyed having them to visit and support her for the company they provided. It was appreciated by Mum and us as a family.
My husband had MS and in the main was bed bound. We had 2 carers three times a day. The team from Home Instead looked after him so very well - daily bed bath and hair washing, meals etc. When I went out I was 100% confident his needs were met. They respected his dignity, privacy and personal needs for two years until the day he died. They became part of our family, I will miss them.
Thank you so much for your review. It has been a pleasure to be able to support your husband and you for the past two years. He will be missed by us all.

Meet the Team (9)
I opened Home Instead Newport, Cwmbran and Chepstow in October 2017 with my daughter Laura. I was thrilled to find Home Instead and to have the opportunity in the community that I have grown up in to be able to make a difference in the lives of the elderly. Having experienced caring for a close family member I know exactly how important good heartfelt care is.
I was attracted to Home Instead for its high-quality care and its ethos where the focus is on building a caring, trusting relationship between our client and our Care Professionals, which supports older people remaining living independently at home. We provide our clients with the very best support and will always work hard to make sure things are right for them. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, walk my dogs and read. I am also a trustee of the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales and I fundraise regularly for the children's hospital to help with providing play specialists, new equipment, refurbishments and much more.
High-quality care has a hugely positive impact on people's lives and it is something that I take pride in, it’s a real privilege to be part of a team that enhances people’s lives every day.
Pauline joined the Home Instead team in October 2020 as our Client Consultant. Pauline started her career with the NHS where she qualified as an Orthopedic Nurse and went on to qualify as an Occupational Therapist. Pauline used this qualification whilst working in the older adult’s community Mental Health Team.
From this Pauline moved into an HR role as a business partner in an engineering company. The Covid Pandemic gave Pauline time to reflect and decided to move back into the sector that she was passionate about.
Pauline utilises all her knowledge and experience to ensure our new clients get all their needs met. Pauline delivers the initial enquiry, consultation and assessment to ensure continuity for the client. Pauline did not realise how much she missed working in a caring profession and strongly believes that Home Instead offers a unique service, that is led by the clients and their needs.
