Home Instead was recommended to me by the motor neurone team, who had an experience of them caring for other people with MND. I found the Home Instead team very easy to contact and the only people who were confident they could deal with the challenges they might face when someone is very incapacitated.
My partner and I engaged them to come and help get him up in the mornings, bathe him in his chair (which he found very comforting) and help him dress and have his breakfast, which often had to be fed to him. He got to know his two regular carers, who alternated - they became friends he could trust, rather than a different stranger every day.
It made my life so much easier, and the two lovely mature carers eased my worries. Had he not died unexpectedly, I would have been very happy to engage them at other times in the day!
I was pleased Home Instead was there as a firm supporting agency at one of the most difficult times in my life. Thank you, everyone!
This was conducted by a home visit for 2-hours each week, until the Coronavirus lockdown changed that to contact by telephone, a few calls a week to cover the same time period. This has been very good for him having somebody trained and knowledgeable to help and assist with any issues he may have; a friendly chat with a familiar person is always good.
At first, he wasn’t sure he needed this support, but as I and other family members live 4-hours hours away, we thought it was essential for his wellbeing and our peace of mind, that he had some extra support from a professional care provider to keep an eye on things and report any concerns to us. So far, this has been very good.
My father has been wonderfully supported by a number of different carers from Home Instead over the last 12 months. He is on the 'Spectrum' and also with Alzheimer's so difficult to manage. However, the team have always, and continue to look after him to the highest standards, providing both general support (cooking / cleaning / day to day welfare) plus much needed mental stimulation, along with good food and often companionship when he's gardening. He's always treated kindly and with respect, despite his challenging behaviour. Home Instead have expanded and improved on his care package, as he's mentally deteriorated, ensuring that he continues to receive the right levels of support.
I am so pleased to have Home Instead in our area. They provided an excellent standard of care for my father in recent times and are now visiting my mother to provide support. Everyone we have dealt with in the office has been excellent, providing a friendly expert and approachable service. We really value the continuity of our carer, who has developed a good and reassuring rapport with my mother.
The ladies allocated for this task have mostly been very good or excellent. Any complaints with them have been dealt with by the management who have been most sympathetic and understanding. I have nothing but praise.
There was one brief incident when a staff member proved to be incompatible with the patient, but it was quickly dealt with. Otherwise, carers quickly became friends.
Management is not always quick to respond, in this area, we need more superstars, like one particular carer, is a total credit to Home Instead. As for two visits from ladies who you thought were the best, who did not know that care does not have an I in it, finally who granted the best ever perfect human being ever, and as back up, had two also who I would be delighted to have back again. As this has been my life, I really would like a meeting with the management, as it is my future.
We enlisted the services of Home Instead Senior Care to support us during the final stages of my father's life. The high level of care and compassion demonstrated by all the care providers afforded the highest level of comfort and dignity to my father, and their support enabled us to keep him at home for the end of his life. We are so grateful to the team for being our living angels during a very difficult time.
I know when I am out for the day, my husband has a visitor at least for an hour. New conversation, new friends and help when needed. This means I can enjoy my day and not be worried.
The care given to my mother was of the highest of standard. The carers treated her with dignity and respect at all times, and always has a friendly manner. They were quick to pick up on any slight changes in her condition and reported them immediately. As a retired registered nurse, I feel I am a good judge of care quality, and I also spent many hours with my mum during the last couple of weeks of her life where I had ample opportunity to observe the care given. I would not hesitate to recommend the four who attended her.
Always been treated with kindly respect and helpfulness.
Home Instead have been a huge support over the last couple of weeks, providing weekend night cover at very short notice two consecutive weekends. From a 3pm (ish) initial contact, their commitment to continue working beyond office hours to ensure cover was in place for that evening (9pm/10pm) was very much appreciated.
My mother was increasingly disabled and finding it hard to cope. Home Instead provided regular visits in the early evening, took her for outings, did the crossword with her and anything else she needed. The two regular carers became good friends.
However I have sparse communication with the office - carers have told me when they are having a holiday so the attending carer will change. And there have been misunderstandings when it came to my taking an extra day off - so I didn't get it. Office are very friendly but not very efficient.
The manager at the office literally moved heaven and earth to help my father live his last hours at home. Nothing was too much for Home Instead. Thank you, we are eternally grateful.
I chose this care provider because I liked the professionalism of the manager. Also, I felt because the staff were booked for a minimum of 1 hour, they wouldn't be looking at their watch all the time. The carers are delightful, arriving on time and full of cheer which my husband enjoys.
All carers absolutely excellent. Many thanks.
I am utterly delighted and grateful for the service Home Instead have consistently been providing for the past year for my elderly father. My father, myself and the family all love each carer that comes to my father’s house to care for him. I feel very confident that my father is receiving excellent care and I can trust the carers with his care. They are kind, cheerful and professional and keep his spirits up and all his needs met. They are flexible and accommodating when we ask for things to be done or changed. Home Instead have a huge impact on my father’s physical health, morale and length of his life because they allow him to live and be well cared for in his own home.
They are always very happy to help in any manner they can and my mother is very happy with them.
Excellent. I look forward to the carer arriving and I find them caring, intelligent and lots of practical common sense, often, ahead of the game, seeing what needs to be done and what my needs are.
