My mother recently moved into a care home; prior to that HomeInstead (Tyne Valley) provided support to her in her own home, 3 times a day for the past 5 years. Over that time Mum has formed friendships with her carers, which I know she will miss. The carers have played an essential part in helping Mum to live independently and keeping the rest of the family informed about how she was doing; the app, in particular, has been brilliant in providing us with up to date information. On a number of occasions when Mum became ill, HomeInstead provided flexible support and a very effective on-call system. I would recommend HomeInstead Tyne Valley to anyone looking to arrange care for their loved ones.
Chris thank you for this lovely review we very much appreciate it, I will pass your comments on to the Team. Good luck to you all going forward. Heather
Home Instead Tyne Valley (HITV) were recommended to me by a care professional last summer and we started using them from August 2024. My mum already had twice daily visits from a council-affiliated provider, for dispensing medication and ensuring she ate, morning and evening, but she also needed help with shopping, getting out and companionship. HITV have also been very accommodating with taking her to arising appointments and to see her old friends in the area. The carers have been excellent at keeping my mum's spirits up and have great rapport with her. It has been a great relief to me, to have people I can trust to keep an eye on her, especially as we lived 400 miles apart. Now that I have moved my mum into a care home nearer me, we no longer need the service but, had she been able to stay in her home, we would have continued using Home Instead indefinitely. There have, of course, been some glitches but these are to be expected and have not tainted our appreciation. Many thanks!
Thank you for your review. What a privilege it was to get to know and support your mum. We wish her well in her new home.
Whilst the client originally demonstrated reluctance to accept 'care', renaming the 'carers' as 'home helps' seemed to be acceptable to a previously very independent lady. She has subsequently developed good relationships with the ladies who call on her. It is particularly convenient to establish a 'bespoke' system which suits client and Home Instead. The on-line shopping arrangement also works effectively. Thank you.
Thank you for your review. It is lovely to hear what a difference we make to our clients lives.
The only time we had a slight issue, the staff were very understanding, listened and made the alterations required.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We are always happy to help.
Really supportive service tailored to the needs of my mother in law, love the use of the app to keep me updated. Mother in law has built trusting relationship with her carers and talks positively about her time with them.
Thank you very much. It has been a pleasure to get to know your mother in law and we look forward to continue to support her.
So far the twice daily visits to my Aunt have been very worthwhile . We know she is checked twice a day that she has eaten and taken her medication . Also she has the added attraction of company with these visits . We track the visits on the app which is an excellent way for the family to track the care visits . All in all we are very happy .
Thank you for your positive feedback. The care team are very fond of your Aunt.
From my first meeting with the care manager of home instead I felt a weight had been lifted from us as the family of a much loved mother. The carers are professional, kind, patient and intelligent and the added bonus is their sense of humour which is so important. I feel that as her needs inevitably change, they will cope without a fuss. The app is extremely useful as I live far away and can discuss whatever they have done together that day. I'd happily recommend the home instead service to anyone looking to keep their loved ones at home for as long as possible.
Thank you for such a lovely review, I have shared it with the Team, it is very much appreciated.
Responsive, caring, professional service and really starting to help make a difference for my mam. The Home Instead team have all really helped her get over her initial reluctance to get more help, so that it is now seamless. Thank you.
Since care was started last year we have increased the input from Home Instead to twice daily to include meal cover. Any increase in care has always been very quickly organised. The care team have always kept us updated about any concerns and have often gone above and beyond to support my mother including helping to organise appointments which fit their schedule so they can take her. The company have been careful to introduce new carers to my mother and all the care team have taken time to try and understand my mother's interests and things she likes. They also undertake a number of household tasks. Contact is very easy even with last-minute requests. I would definitely recommend this care company to anyone looking for high-quality care with a lot more than just basic provision of care.
A very professional service delivered with kindness, an understanding of needs and empathy.
At all times, they have treated him with kindness and respect and good humour.
The Home Instead app is a useful tool that allows us to see the schedule of carers, times etc. as well as the documented care given.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
As it was my first time looking for care for my elderly mum I was hoping for a personal approach where she wouldn't be rushed through her personal care and a relaxed friendly attitude from the carers who came to the house. That's exactly what I have received and more importantly, I can see that as my mum's condition deteriorates I am also going to receive the benefit of their empathy and understanding. I like that the carers coming to the house are experienced, live locally and seem genuinely interested in their clients and their backstories.
Home Instead has been fantastic in helping me to look after my mum. The carers are all lovely and the change I have seen in Mum is amazing! I can't recommend them enough. They are totally reliable and very responsive to Mum's changing needs. I couldn't manage without them!
Vey caring and reliable staff who are also very patient with my mum. I am grateful that I can contact people easily and I'm also glad I can read the reviews of visits on the app to keep aware of how things have gone.
I would thoroughly recommend the service.
I would recommend Home Instead without hesitation to anyone wanting lovely personalised care for their loved ones. The service was really excellent on every level, their staff are lovely, personable and professional. They were fantastic with all the personal bodily care, as well as the food preparation and being on top of all medication issues. They were also very communicative about each visit as to which carer and when they would be coming. The team management was also directly involved as carers themselves and I was impressed by this. My mother could be difficult and very awkward if she wanted to be, but she always spoke in the most glowing terms about all the different carers she experienced. They had such a good relationship, two of the carers came to her funeral and my mum would have really appreciated that.
Thank you, Paul, for taking the time to write such a lovely review, we were pleased and honoured to support your mum, it was our pleasure.
Home Instead team has provided excellent care for my father who has dementia. The carers are friendly, helpful and reliable and are supported by a great office team. The app is an extremely useful tool and provides extra reassurance. I am confident that the carers will raise any concerns they may have with the office, who then contact me straight away if required. My father is treated with kindness and dignity.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a lovely review. I will pass your comments on to the team. Thank you again.
I have been really impressed with Home Instead, who have arranged a care package for my Mum. The office staff have been very professional and responsive and understood what help and support my Mum needs. The carer is brilliant! She is prompt, kind and supports mum in a respectful and dignified way. It is so reassuring to have a care company that looks after a loved member of your family so well. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much, we are so privileged to be able to support your mum, she is a lovely lady.
Thank you for doing what I should be doing but cannot because I am too far away.
Thank you for this lovely review, we are more than happy to stand in. Many thanks for your review, I have shared it with the team, it is very much appreciated.
They have been very efficient and organised. The care standards are excellent.
My father, who was initially reluctant to admit he needed more help, now really values the help he gets, and is very happy with the principal caregivers, noting how kind and caring they are.
As I live 300 miles away from my father, being able to view the reports of the visits on the Care Planning app gives me great peace of mind.
So far, Home Instead have offered an excellent service - and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Home Instead Tyne Valley is owned by Heather Hughes, who started her professional career by gaining her NNEB Certificate and working as a Special Care Baby Nurse at Thorpe Maternity Hospital in South Durham.
Using the qualifications and experience from working with children, Heather changed direction and trained as a photographer working with children and adults for over 20 years, 10 of which were in her own business.
Heather has lived in the North East all her life living in semi-rural places like Ponteland, Castle Eden and Durham and for many years ran the local Pony Club which was a charity dedicated to children and their ponies. Her work has always involved being with people which she has enjoyed enormously.
Heather's mum sadly passed away in 2018, while caring for her mum she became aware of the lack of good care for older people in the area. Not long after that, she joined Home Instead Newcastle as a Recruiter and Community Services Representative, devoting her time to become involved with services assisting the elderly and those at home caring for them. She was involved in community projects, charitable events and became a Dementia Champion.
Her passion for helping local older people was growing and when she discovered that Home Instead were selling Hexham and the Tyne Valley area, she jumped at the chance to set up her own branch.
Here she feels proud and privileged to serve the local older people in our community, with assistance from her enthusiastic and dedicated Staff.
She was born and has lived in the Tyne Valley area all of her life, she is very familiar with the local community in which she lives and with the people she supports.
Angela raised her family and cared for senior family members prior to starting her career in care. She has worked in both the community and in care homes. During this time Angela has gained extensive experience in caring for older people.
Her role involves ensuring all of our clients are well cared for while supporting them in the comfort of their own homes.
Angela is based in our Hexham office where she also supports our growing team of Care Professionals. Her aim is to ensure the quality of care we provide is consistent of the highest standard.
Sarah is a Sunderland girl living in the local Northumbrian Village of Prudhoe with her fiance Jamie and her five adorable fur babies.
Sarah is passionate about caring for older people, she loves her scheduling role and is dedicated to her training role where she nurtures and trains our new Care Professionals.
She is always looking for fresh training opportunities to broaden her knowledge which she then shares enthusiastically with our wonderful team.
Outside of work Sarah continues to educate herself and has recently enrolled herself on a Health and Social Care degree course, she is going to be a very busy lady.
