Following a lengthy hospital stay, my 94-year-old father recently returned home with support from Kirsty and the team. As a family, we were naturally anxious about such a significant transition, particularly as my father still required considerable assistance and support.
From the planning stages through to the first days and weeks at home, the team were professional, organised, compassionate and highly responsive. Communication was excellent throughout, and they worked closely with both our family and healthcare professionals to ensure everything was in place for Dad's return.
The transition from hospital to home could not have gone more smoothly. Medication management was quickly established, carers arrived as scheduled, and any issues that arose were addressed promptly and professionally. Most importantly, Dad was able to return to the comfort and familiarity of his own home with confidence and dignity.

The team have also shown tremendous patience and understanding in supporting my

My mother is housebound but wanted to remain in her own home, and Home Instead have been fantastic in making this possible. They have provided excellent support, along with regular communication and helpful advice on how best to care for her.
As we live some distance away, it gives us great reassurance to know she is so well looked after. The team support her with social interaction, shopping, medication, and household tasks, and always take the time to sit and chat with her.

The staff are consistently kind, supportive, and attentive. I would highly recommend Home Instead.

It is reassuring to know that my mother is having companionship twice a day and that her welfare is being taken care off while we are away. She enjoyed the visits especially the conversations and on occasion the opportunity be accompanied out to the garden (which she enjoyed enormously). Mother is looking forward to her visits in September.

Fantastic experience with the Home Instead staff over the last 3 years caring for my mum in her home. Nothing is too much trouble, they are flexible, accommodate all needs, kind, caring and considerate. I have been truly grateful for all their help from the care pros to the management team. Everyone provided an excellent service. I would always recommend HI they put my mind at ease knowing their care and professionalism helped my mum stay in her home as long as possible. Being able to read the daily updates when a care pro had visited was really good as I was able to address any needs straight away. The communication from the team was regular and I always felt they knew my mum very well. Thank you!

On the whole, the service is ok. I feel that if I had the same carer each day, I could settle into a much better routine. At present, I get an assortment of girls. I'm always having to show them & tell them all I want them to do & where everything is. I am mobile, so I don't need any personal care. It's just housework really & I need to be taken shopping once a week, this works OK.

Reply from Sandra Salvona, Business Development Manager at Home Instead (South Ayrshire and Kilmarnock)

Its good to hear that, overall you find the service satisfactory and that your weekly shopping support is working well. At the same time, we completely understand how having different Care Professionals can make it harder to settle into a comfortable routine.

Thanks you for taking the time to...

The Home Instead team have been brilliant with the care package delivery and reacting to urgent care needs. This has included managing to arrange care at very short notice on occasions.

The care team also keep me fully briefed on developments or care concerns. I would have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead for care provision.

Home Instead have been looking after mum for nearly 2 years now. They provide great service offering companionship, help with housework and meal prep and taking mum to the supermarket and hairdressers.
The flexibility on occasions we have needed extra visits has been a real benefit to us.
The app is wonderful allowing us to get a good picture of how mum is during each visit.
When mum was recently unwell it was a great support to mum and us for her to have care professionals who she knew and trusted to look after her.
We are always able to speak to someone on the phone who is able to help if we need to.

Home instead was recommended to me by friends who had used the service in Edinburgh, Milngavie and Kilmarnock and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

If you have a relative or friend who needs companionship then I can throughly recommend Home Instead Ayr. In the 2 years they spent time with my Dad they have been amazing. Regular check ups are carried out and every visit is recorded on their App so you know what's happening. For us it was a life line to get Dad out of the house when we were working and knowing he had company regularly gave us peace of mind. The companions are true heroes who make such a difference to the people they support. Thank you the manager and team and everyone in the Ayr office.

Our father was cared for at home by Home Instead for a period of over 18 months. The care team were flexible and helpful at every turn. This allowed us to increase the care dad needed as his health deteriorated. From 5 days of 2 hours a day ( with family providing care the other two days), dad's needs increased to 3 hours per day. Finally, the care team increased their visits to 4 per day during the last week of his life, allowing to pass away at home, as was his wish, surrounded by family.
Although, as Dad's family, we did everything we could to support him ourselves, Home Instead's visits ensured that he was able to end his life without recourse to a care home or hospital.
Not only was he able to amend the number of hours as needs increased but also, the type of care changed over time. I would heartily recommend using Home Instead.

The team are reliable, trustworthy, punctual and kind, taking time to get to know their clients and carefully tailoring the care given to suit.

Home instead have been providing care for my elderly mum for 2 years. Their carers are always very professional, helpful and respectful to mum. Knowing that makes me feel confident that mum's in good hands. The office staff are very friendly and approachable. When we had to change the time of the carer's visits, they sorted it all out quickly and efficiently.

I can't speak highly enough of the service we received from Home Instead. The team supported my parents through the toughest times of my Mothers dementia journey at home. Their support allowed us to keep Mum at home for many more months than would otherwise have been possible. They were fantastic with Mum and Dad, flexible with days and hours, and were quick to increase hours and days as Mum's care needs increased. Mum responded so well to the carers as they were so great with her. Amazing support through a really tough time. Thankyou.

When I started having carers I was mentally and physically in a bad place, I found it really hard to have someone come in to visit me.
I started to look forward to the visits by the end of the 2nd month. Now I really feel the benefits in my health.
Everyone is really lovely.

I don't think that I would be here without them.

The Home Instead team visit my mum every morning, she has a regular carer who does most of the visits with other carers helping out for holidays and weekends. They help her take medication, go shopping and hairdresser, pay papers and provide friendly company. They've suggested and set up visits to a local community club and often take Mum out for a coffee which she enjoys. The whole service has been superb, completely reliable, they've never missed or been late for a visit since we started 2 years ago. We appreciate how proactive and caring they are, mums carer contacts the doctor, pharmacy or optician if she spots a need and resolves problems with things like picking up medication. The central team are very helpful too, keeping in touch with me, being very flexible, and responding to requests to change or add extra time. Home Instead provide an amazing service for my mum, it's really made a difference for her and the family, we have a lot of reassurance knowing the team is on hand.

We were overseas visitors to the area and at short notice required daycare for my wife who is a stroke survivor, with partial paralysis and loss of speech. Home Instead were fabulous in their efforts to assist with our needs. In addition, they were extremely diligent in their onboarding process and their efficiency gave us great comfort. The carer was very personable and fully qualified, and my wife easily warmed to her. Although only a short stay this time, we have no hesitation in seeking Home Instead's services for our next visit or recommending them to others.

My Mum receives a weekly afternoon visit from the same carer each week, other than holidays. She does the housework, takes her to the hairdresser and takes her out. My Mum loves the visits and thinks the world of the carer. It has taken the pressure off of me trying to do everything for her, and I can now spend time visiting and talking to her rather than being her housekeeper.
All the girls in the office are lovely and communication is excellent with them letting you know of any concerns and regularly contact you to get feedback on the service.

I cannot recommend the Home Instead team highly enough. All the carers are extremely professional and compassionate delivering person-centered care. Mum really enjoys their company and interactions. They give me a well-needed break secure in the knowledge that Mum is happy and safe.

I have recently used the live-in care team as well. I was anxious about doing this for the first time but as always the team provided an excellent carer who I got to meet prior to me taking a short break. This has made a huge difference to me knowing that Mum can get respite care in the comfort of my home. Sincere thanks to them all.
