Mum needed help getting up , washed and dressed each morning. She had lost all confidence after a fall at home . Carers were extremely nice and helpful and helped mum gain confidence again. Care manager was really informative and helpful on her home visit. Would definitely use these again if the need arises

Last 18 months, the service recieved from this company (Elmar) has not been satisfactory and to a very low standard. The service is managed poorly such as not filling shifts whilst some one is off sick or rota mix up. During time of sitting in care, I made several complaints of staff providing poor care and putting client at risk such as sleeping on duty, carers constantly on their phones and not paying attention to client who is a falls risk, all complaints were ignored. Attitude of management is poor, as they have a financial incentive. The service is understaffed, where Elmar is taking on additional contracts but do not have enough staff members to support and will be putting patients and carers at risk. Some carers at this company are good but they tend keep the good ones for private jobs and tend to cater poor and lazy staff to patients they don't think much of.

Elmar have been helping me look after my mum for last three years. The carers who come are attentive and considerate to mums needs. Mum likes the familiarity and usually has the same 2 carers, who are both fantastic. They always let me know if running late (obviously things can crop up on earlier calls) but communication is key and I'm always updated. Highly recommend.

Cared well for my mum for a lot of years even though she could be difficult at times you did your best to accommodate her she became very close friends with quite a few of the carers and I'm sure she will miss them.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Always friendly, keeping people involved in all the activities, and generally sympathetic to their needs. The meals were good. The staff were always trying to keep things entertaining from ball games to bingo or artwork.

My mum has been receiving care from the Elmar team since Christmas. The carers are great and when my dad was poorly recently they went out of their way to make sure he was also cared for. I would highly recommend them

Really pleased with the care Mum receives from Elmar. She gets the same few carers all the time which is important as Mum is used to them. While I was away in April one of the carers realized that Mum was a bit confused so she contacted the office and they arranged a doctor's appointment then collected a bottle from the surgery and returned the water sample, Mum had a water infection and got the antibiotics straight away. Most of the time Mum's call out is straightforward forward but I feel I can trust and rely on these lovely carers to look after Mum and to contact me if there is a problem. I have no problems contacting the office when I need to and always find them helpful. Thank you, Elmar.

This care company are a godsend to our family and Dad. The care he has been given from when they helped him care for Mum at home to him now needing the help. Kindness, compassion, helpfulness and just a smile with kind words is showered on him daily. They all go above and beyond. We are so lucky we were able to go to direct payment because it gave us choice. The most amazing team

We have been very pleased and impressed with the carers who have attended. They are always cheerful, polite, professional and efficient. You have been able to adapt the call times as my husband's care needs have changed. If they are running late for any reason, they have always called to let us know. They have remembered his personal likes and dislikes and catered to them. Staff in the office have always been very polite and helpful. Possible improvements, introduce the App, passcodes and how to use the App at the start of the contract. The majority of your older customers may consider Apps to be alien. Being able to use the App has helped me to learn the names of the ladies calling, wish I had had it earlier. Also sometimes some of the younger carers seem to be in a rush to get in and out, especially at tea time. On the whole, impressed with the service so far. Thank you for making our transition to needing carers a little easier.

I was assigned Elmar for the care of my husband following his pancreatic cancer diagnosis back in October 2023. Sadly he came home on palliative care, and with the help of me too I had Elmar carer’s morning and evening. Apart from an odd occasion when the timescale was a little late, I have nothing but praise for the carers that we had. They were all very kind and my husband was grateful as I was for his care. A few went over and above their duty, but all were most kind. It made a dreadful time in our lives as good as it could be. Sadly my darling husband passed away in March, and even the carers had tears in their eyes when they knew. I actually thought I was going to need care for my father following a fall resulting in a broken hip and was going to contact Elmar to help with this, however, sadly he died just a couple of weeks ago too, so I have had two bereavements that have completely knocked me sideways, hence the delay in writing this review. Thank you to all concerned.

Elmar stepped in at extremely short notice to provide an ongoing overnight visit for my mum who is receiving end-of-life care. I have found the carers to be competent, compassionate and thorough. They have treated my mum with the greatest respect and completed all tasks required of them to a high standard. Any requests made to the manager were immediately implemented, and we were given access to an app where we could read details of each visit made. I would not hesitate to recommend Elmar to anyone looking for a truly caring service for themselves or a loved one.

My mother receives personal care from Elmar Home Care. We are very happy with the service. 80% of the time it's the same person who comes. She is friendly and upbeat showing care and respect for my mother. She adapts the time of visit according to my mother's other activities, for example coming earlier on the days she goes to the day centre, and later on the days she gives mum a shower (so other clients don't have late visits).

Some tasks missing from the app so staff are not providing certain parts of his care. All tasks are stated very clearly on the instructions in the paperwork from his social worker. Hiding urine-covered bedding in with clean bedding to avoid having to do any laundry. Same with clothing/food-stained clothing. Staff advising they've applied creams/ointments when they haven't. Skin is not being monitored fully. One ointment in particular is meant to be applied once a day as per instructions on the label, as it is steroid-based, however, some carers are applying it several times a day, which is against doctors' instructions (obvious reasons why they give this instruction). Dosset medication was not given by two members of staff because they aren't on file, these should have been on file before you started the services. It's all hit-and-miss. Members of staff have fed my dad a frozen chicken pie which was meant to be defrosted for 24 hours and cooked in the oven. Massive food safety concern. Still waiting on the complaints procedure.

Dad had care from staff from September 23 until recently when he went into a home. The carers were all so kind, helpful and wonderful with both him and mum. Couldn't have asked for better care. Carers is the right way to describe the staff.

As a person who looks after her as well with other things, cooking and shopping, I would have no problem recommending Elmar to anybody that requires home care.

My mum and I are very impressed with Elmar Home Care Ltd - Horsforth. The carers are so kind, caring and friendly. We cannot praise them enough. My mum looks forward to them coming and has grown quite fond of them all. They really are amazing! Mum is at end of life and the carers have really boosted her up. They show great empathy and compassion. On behalf of my mum and I we want to thank Elmar Home Care carers for being so brilliant and would highly recommend them.

I got to meet a couple of my mum's Elmar carers over the Xmas period and to watch them at work over several days. I was very impressed with all their hard work, good humour and patience, and I am very grateful for all their help. They're getting on really well with my mum and they seem to be taking really good care of her too. They take care to keep her medication at the correct level, to answer her questions/concerns helpfully and to make sure that her home is clean. My mum is very pleased with her carers and I am too. A great job all round.

Elmar home care looked after my dad at home for around six months visiting four times a day. They took over from another company that couldn't have done any less if they tried! All the carers I spoke to or met from Elmar seemed to care about my dad and a number of the girls built a good relationship with him which helped a lot as he struggles with memory issues. When issues happened I always got a phone call from the carer to let me know what was going on. In the end, this helped the council to get him moved to a care home as their records clearly showed he needed full-time care. My dad was upset to leave the carers which clearly shows the difference they had made over the short time with Elmar.
