*some carers are excellent & very conscientious
*number of carers are poor / sit on their phones / don't engage client
*management and staff seem unable to schedule consistent call times
*certain staff claim to have started calls much earlier than they have done so/charge more time than they visit for
*management communication with clients is very patchy
*have had instances of carers being treated

poorly by management eg not respecting their breaks or need for consistent double up provision.

Recently discharged from hospital following a leg break and I've accepted care as I'm unable to mobilise well.
The Care manager for the area visited me, listened to my needs and put me at ease. They showed genuine care about my wellbeing and how they can assist me. A lovely person.
My care package started that morning and will continue for the next four weeks.
Downloading the app allows me to see roughly what time the carer will attend and their name for each visit. It also shows a weekly schedule, subject to change.

Every carer has greeted me with genuine happiness which continues until they leave. They carry out their duties with care and dedication to their job and leave a good impression on their departure. I can't fault their roles in helping me in my recovery after my operation.

The care my sister receives is great , the carers where she lives are lovely nothing is too much for them .
My sister is disabled and sometimes needs a bit of extra help which they do quite happily.

.....overall my mother gets good service from the friendly carers BUT the timekeeping for visits submitted to them from their office (no fault of theirs...) is simply not good enough...
She has had visits in the morning as much as 2 hours earlier than we asked for and often waiting as long as 60+ minutes after our requested time.

Perhaps the office staff that arrange the schedule need a bit of help from A.I. ?

After writing bad review for Abbots Care I was told to email them for resolution, which I did, and it went unanswered. My mother is 78 years old and is totally immobile. Abbots Care was recommended by her social worker and everything was set up. She requested NO men and a single carer twice a fay at 9:30 AM (to get up) and9:30 PM, to be put to bed. I have just moved back to the UK to help with her care. In the 5 weeks I have been here she has been out through absolute turmoil. The Carers themselves a wonderful for the most part, BUT for 3 weeks they kept sending men, and 2 carers which was a total waste, as my mother would not allow them in the house. We called every day for weeks and weeks with a simple request. One female carer in the morning nd one in the evening. They were turning up a 6:00 PM to put her to bed, who goes to bed at 6? I hadn't even given her her dinner at that time. More calls, every day, and they kept sending men and at the wrong time, so we just sent them away.

Reply from Vicki, Marketing Manager at Abbots Care Ltd (Hertfordshire)

We are very sorry to read about your experience and the distress this has caused both you and your mother. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we sincerely apologise that your requests were not consistently met or responded to as they should have been.

We appreciate your kind...

care has been Excellent. All carers are friendly and efficient. I'm out all day so need to know my father is being well cared for. This is the case. Had meetings with Managers who have been very helpful in sorting out what needs to happen at each visit. Also they have simple to use App which details each visit and provides details of up coming visits such as times and who the carer is. Overall care is Excellent

I have been experiencing the worst possible time with Abbots Care Ltd staff in St.Albans

I was in the middle of a really bad breakdown and, because I am a widow, needed a carer with me. This was during February and March this year and I found Abbots Care Ltd at the top of a Google list for care agencies.

Two women managers from Abbots Care came to interview me on 5 February and it wasn't long before one of them asked me to sign their contract. I should have had a friend with me who would have stopped me doing that because I wasn't given a chance to read the document.

The 'carer' was Nigerian and was extremely friendly with me, saying that she didn't usually make friends with her clients. She told me a lot about her family and life, sending me videos of her life when she wasn't caring, which really shocked me. Housework was not what she would deign to do and she broke a lot, including the shower curtain in my guest room, left hair dye on the silicone in the bath and on the toilet seat. It was also on the wall behind the bed and I am having to have that room decorated now. She announced very quickly that she would not go for walks, which became vital for me when I began to improve and wasn't always lying on a couch. The worst part was that she was never off her mobile during my time all day and every day.

I asked Abbots Care to remove her one week early which they did on 15 March. However, about 15 minutes after she had been put into an uber, one of the managers reappeared after collecting another carer, who I did not need, from Rickmansworth station. I had not been told that this was going to happen and told the young lady she couldn't stay. Quite apart from anything else she had witnessed this ghastly scene. I was subsequently charged £5400 (for a month) for that carer and told I had to pay it because they needed 28 days notice. How on earth was I supposed to do that!! Subsequently, because I wouldn't pay it they were charging me 8.25% interest on regular occasions and coerced me into paying the £6346.28 in order to stop them adding more interest!!
