care has been Excellent. All carers are friendly and efficient. I'm out all day so need to know my father is being well cared for. This is the case. Had meetings with Managers who have been very helpful in sorting out what needs to happen at each visit. Also they have simple to use App which details
each visit and provides details of up coming visits such as times and who the carer is. Overall care is Excellent

Carers are all professional and always happy to do other jobs, one care is amazing, nothing is too much trouble. My husband is happy with the care he gets. They are so lovely talking my husband though what they are doing. Also, another member of staff is marvellous as well.

I have been experiencing the worst possible time with Abbots Care Ltd staff in St.Albans


I was in the middle of a really bad breakdown and, because I am a widow, needed a carer with me. This was during February and March this year and I found Abbots Care Ltd at the top of a Google list for care

agencies.


Two women managers from Abbots Care came to interview me on 5 February and it wasn't long before one of them asked me to sign their contract. I should have had a friend with me who would have stopped me doing that because I wasn't given a chance to read the document.


The 'carer' was Nigerian and was extremely friendly with me, saying that she didn't usually make friends with her clients. She told me a lot about her family and life, sending me videos of her life when she wasn't caring, which really shocked me. Housework was not what she would deign to do and she broke a lot, including the shower curtain in my guest room, left hair dye on the silicone in the bath and on the toilet seat. It was also on the wall behind the bed and I am having to have that room decorated now. She announced very quickly that she would not go for walks, which became vital for me when I began to improve and wasn't always lying on a couch. The worst part was that she was never off her mobile during my time all day and every day.


I asked Abbots Care to remove her one week early which they did on 15 March. However, about 15 minutes after she had been put into an uber, one of the managers reappeared after collecting another carer, who I did not need, from Rickmansworth station. I had not been told that this was going to happen and told the young lady she couldn't stay. Quite apart from anything else she had witnessed this ghastly scene. I was subsequently charged £5400 (for a month) for that carer and told I had to pay it because they needed 28 days notice. How on earth was I supposed to do that!! Subsequently, because I wouldn't pay it they were charging me 8.25% interest on regular occasions and coerced me into paying the £6346.28 in order to stop them adding more interest!!

Abbots Care are absolutely amazing. My mother is 90 years old and Abbots care have been looking after to her since April 2025. All the carers are polite and very helpful. They keep me informed about my mother's care and it puts my mind at rest to know she is well cared for. Nothing is to much trouble
for them. My mother has had different carers in the past and Abbots care is the best by far. More importantly my mother is happy with her carers.

My nan had carers visit from Abbots up until she passed recently,I would speak to her on a regular basis and she would always mention one lady and how much she would make her smile and how much she would look forward to her coming in, I'd also like to say a thank you to a lady who managed to get my
nan outside which was alot for her so thank you to those at Abbots for being there for my nan but especially to those two ladies it meant alot to me that you could be there for her.

Overall service is okay. Carers always running late and not notice given. App is not updated and no live updates. Some carers can be more flexible or adaptive to care required.

I was trying to contact Abbots Care, the social worker left me with the situation I had not been able to sort out. The social worker, whose client is a wheelchair user and below knee amputee. They want to start when he had a doctor's appointment for dressings and it's not just Abbots Care that won't
let him go to the doctor's appointment, it was also the social worker when the carers did not come. The social worker didn't sort out the problem when they were supposed to give out my phone number without letting me know they were going to call me. I wanted them to start on Monday. I was left to deal with it every time you try to talk to them. They don't understand any explanations and every time you try to explain the situation he needs to go to medical appointments, he is diabetic. They won't let him go and he cannot communicate with me either my brother, or with the carers to explain it. With Abbots Care anything with more than 5 words or syllables, they are clueless.

I found myself having to arrange live-in care for my elderly father at short notice. I wasn't sure where to start, so turned to Abbots Care, who had provided reablement care after a previous hospital discharge.
They quickly understood the situation and advised that live-in care for 2-3 weeks was the
best option and what the cost would be. The assessor came to the hospital the next day and within the next 2 days, they had found a lovely carer who could start on the day of discharge.
My father and his carer get on well together. She's caring, cheerful and respectful and within 24 hours I felt confident that my father was in good hands. We have decided to extend the care until my father's mobility improves.
Everyone at Abbots Care that I have spoken to, on the phone or face to face, has been helpful and supportive. Arranging care for a loved one can be very stressful and they have made the process stress-free. I also believe their fees are very competitive.

Abbots responded very quickly to an urgent need for nighttime care for my mother - requested in the afternoon and in place that same night. Admin had to be a bit rushed but Abbots were very flexible and helpful in tying up loose ends subsequently. Mother also receiving 4 daytime visits following hospital
discharge. Nearly all the carers have been excellent and living up to the title of 'carer' - just one or two carers not quite reaching that level but Mum is always safe and looked after. Customer service was very good with helpful responses to our queries and comments. The app is very helpful - enables us to see the carers' reports after every visit and to see upcoming visits. All in all, we're very pleased with the service Abbots are providing and would recommend them.

I am an NVQ assessor, and a back-care trainer and have a Registered Manager's Award in Care.
