Home Instead (Barnet)

We used Home Instead Barnet for care for my mother, who has dementia. We had daily 2 hour visits and we have been very happy with all aspects of the service. The management team have always been reliable and quick to respond to any queries. The carers have been very good. They have taken care of showering, giving medication, making lunch and providing companionship for my mum. I really like the fact that the carers left daily reports online so that if we were not around we could see a detailed report of how mum was, what she had eaten, any concerns about her wellbeing etc. All in all I would definitely recommend Sunni and his team without hesitation.

My mother received care daily for the last 13 months.

Home Instead looked after our mother for almost 5 years, after she was widowed aged 93. Though she did not need much medical - or at first personal - care, she did struggle with memory and confusion. Their help enabled her to stay living in her own home almost until the end. They were flexible, professional, and caring, and understood our mother's need to feel independent and mistress of her own house. They never forced the relationship, and she came to look forward to the visits of the carers she got to know. Communication with the office was always good; when we did need to step up the care to daily visits they were able to put that in place quickly with her main carer. It was also reassuring to be able to check the Portal, for feedback. When she had an unlucky fall one morning it was the carer who found her, knew what to do, called the office to let us know, went with her in the ambulance and stayed with her at the hospital until one of us could get there. Thanks to Home Instead our Mum was able to stay in her own home for as long as possible.

I needed short term care following a fall when I broke my elbow. On discharge from hospital it was impossible to source care through the council but Home Instead were able to provide me with a carer in 24 hours. The whole service was efficient and seamless. I needed a carer for an hour in the morning to get me washed, hair washed and dressed. Both my carers were fantastic. They were patient and caring and gave me the confidence to start to manage on my own again. I can't thank Home Start enough and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Home Instead Barnet provided care for both my parents, in their home, for nearly 2 1/2 years. I cannot praise the service, the care or the team more highly. From the initial meeting, to the carers themselves, to the support from the management and scheduling team the level of care was remarkable. All the team members showed genuine concern for the welfare of my parents, and true professionalism but it never felt like a business or a transaction. I think what really stood out for me and my siblings was the level of genuine concern that everybody showed, and the strong desire to look after my parents and do right by them. It would be unfair to single out any of the individual carers as they were all so good, but having the team at the office who always available to sort issues out and to advise made all the difference. The care provided to my stepmother went above and beyond any sense of duty. Every person who had contact with us took an approach that was highly professional, kind, thoughtful and totally reliable. Real relationships were established that were emotionally sustaining and benefitted us all.

The care organisers were the same they listened intelligently and thoughtfully and were always kind and incredibly eager to help and support.

The company, management and caregivers were all very competent, professional and caring. The quality of care provision was always excellent. The staff were approachable and always solved any issues. Mum benefited considerably from the extra mile which all caregivers provided. The quality of care provision and administrative support cannot be criticised.

The care was second to none. My mother was always in safe, capable, professional, dependable and helpful hands. But my mother's care needs significantly increased and the cost became prohibitive, unfortunately.

We used Home Instead to support Dad to live independently at home. They were able to help with preparing meals and providing personal care, and Dad enjoyed the attention he received. Developed a good and trusting relationship with the carer over time. We did have a few issues when we had to introduce a live-in carer and the relationship between carers was not totally straightforward but that did improve over time. THe carers provided were professional, friendly, caring and knowledgable. We were very grateful to all of them.

The help my wife received during her illness was carried out in a very friendly and caring manner.

As a family we cannot talk too lightly about how impressed we have been with the service - Home Instead are first rate.

The support from Home Instead was excellent. The staff at the office went the extra mile to solve any problems. They took as much of the load off us as possible to support us and worked very hard to find the best carers for my mother.

My main carer was excellent. When she was not available the carers were mixed. usually satisfactory but on one occasion appalling though the fees were refunded on that occasion. I found the management very fair and did their best to find a suitable carer.

Home Instead provided lovely care for my grandmother and even when she because more disorientated and tricky worked with me to find solutions. Thank you, you all made a different time easier.

Home Instead have been supporting myself and aunt for approximately 6 years. The staff are professional and provide an excellent care service. Nothing is too much trouble (especially at short notice) we look forward to continuing our professional relationship with Home Instead.
