In January 2023 I met Lucy and the lovely team from Home Instead after my uncle was diagnosed with prostrate cancer and had a life time catheter fitted.
My Uncle and Aunt who are now 93 and 92 live by themselves and are very proud and didn't feel they needed too much help. So only had one evening visit till now.
Recently things have deteriorated as they both have memory/dementia journeys and now my Uncles cancer has spread and he certainly needs more care and support after becoming bed bound.
Lucy has been a constant support to myself and my cousin and always a phone call away offering practical advice and reassurance. The care package has been adapted quickly to ensure they can stay in their own home as long as possible as they want to stay together in their home. So more visits scheduled and a 24 hours call-out too.

I can only offer praise and thanks to Lucy and the whole team of carers and I do not know what we would do without them.

The Market Harborough Homeinstead team looked after my Dad from 2021 until late 2025 in my Mum's home, providing visits during the working week. They also supported when my Mum was away for a day giving her a break. He was suffering with Dementia, so as the disease progressed the type of care was adapted to suit his needs,. In the early stages they would take my Dad for long walks, then more latterly supported him more in the home. The team from in the office, to the carers attending offered an extremely professional service, both providing support to my Mum too.

They provided login details for the app, so if you are family member you can see what has happened on the visit. Everyone within the Homeinstead team is a credit to the care industry, and has exemplary standards at all levels.

I would highly recommend Homeinstead as a care provider for support within the home environment.

In November 2025 I arranged for Home Instead to provide two Partnership Care Professionals for my Sister and Brother-in Law, who have no family and live in a Retirement development for the over 75's. In addition to the 24/7 support from the Retirement development team, my wife and I manage all their affairs but live in Staffordshire and can only visit every two weeks. The reason for the Partnership Care is to provide an opportunity to remain active in the community and, in the case of my sister-in-law, to keep her stimulated to control her anxiety caused by early onset of dementia.
The two partnership professionals visit for two hours, three times a week and have established a close relationship that involves trips to into town for shopping and for walking and sightseeing, etc. when the weather permits.

Over the past months we have clearly seen the benefits of the partnership arrangements as both my in-laws are happier, healthier and more relaxed. I sincerely thank Home Instead

Home Instead have been looking after my Mother-in-Law for the past 6 months. She has early dementia and is therefore not always easy to deal with. With the help of Home Instead she continues to live by herself at her home. The manner in which the carers encourage and support her with her eating and going out is much admired and appreciated by her family.

Reply from Gail Devereux-Batchelor, Director at Home Instead (Market Harborough, Oadby, Corby & Oakham)

We know how hard it is when a family is trying to support someone living with dementia- her Home Instead care team will always take care to kindly encourage wellbeing and going out and about - and I do thank you for recognising their efforts.

The HomeInstead Team cared for my husband for over 4 years x 5 times per week and during that time, we saw the same carers, with just one or two changes. The care they provided in taking him for walks, preparing his lunch, changing pads and latterly as his dementia worsened showering him gave him some quality of life and enabled me to keep him at home for far longer than was expected. The support and friendship they showed me also helped during often very difficult times. They are an incredibly professional, kind, have immense patience and their specific training and understanding of dementia clearly helped our situation.

Carers were always on time and if they were running slightly late, the office would call to let me know.

When I needed to extend or arrange for additional care to allow me to do other things, the office staff were so helpful and accommodating, informing me which carer would looking after David.

Thank you for the most wonderful and kind team of carers

Home instead have been caring for my father who had dementia for many years. They have been great at looking after him. What we liked about the service is that he had regular carers who he got to know. They were also very supportive to my Mum and would almost act as a support carer for her - in other words they would check in with her too, which was reassuring to know another person was looking out for her. The service is also really good as it was very flexible. They could increase or decrease the care as it was needed. Overall we were very pleased with the care home instead provided. I have already recommended them to friends too. Thank you so much!!

Following 2 weeks in hospital and 2 weeks in a care home, I needed confidence restoring re showering. My initial contact and registration meeting were both efficient and friendly. I felt in control of what service I needed - the company listened to what I required. Having the same carer each visit was very valuable and appreciated. Thank you for restoring my confidence and helping in various other ways.

Uncertain as to what service my wife would require I was a little concerned. However, the service and support given over 4 months were exemplary. Both management and carers give their genuine support at all times and treated her with exceptional care and attention. Whenever a change or support was identified, the system was able to cater for the need with the carers ending up 'part of the family'. All tasks were undertaken and performed to a very high standard. Thank you to one and all.

Home Instead have been brilliant at setting up increased support at very short notice for both my parents. This was after a referral to Social Services.
The care given is outstanding and goes above and beyond. One of the carers took my mum to the GP surgery with 15 minutes notice.
I know my very elderly parents are in very good hands, care and advice provided is in their best interest and we can follow each visit in the app. This is very helpful living away from them.
Communication is exemplary, especially if there is an issue which needs addressing urgently.

Home Instead were recommended to me by friends and best decision was made now they are caring for my parents.

Our darling mother started care with carers from Home Instead in January 2025. Sadly her health declined and in April Mum sadly required End of Life care.
The incredible team supported us 4 times a day. The care and love and comfort they gave our mother was so natural and truly amazing. They also checked on us to see if they could support us in anyway.
We were so lucky and fortunate to have their support and cannot thank them enough for everything.

Thank you Home Instead for everything. We were so touched by your professionalism and care.

Our interface with Home Instead has been primarily with the care staff whom we found to have been well trained, courteous and efficient. The support staff coped well with the difficulty of juggling a programme of locations, times, dates and carer holidays. I do not know if Home Instead offer value for money, I have no yard stick against which to make a judgement; suffice to say we were grateful for the service which they provided and would happily employ them again.

Home instead took on providing my mums care approximately 7 years ago. From the on set they were very professional friendly and polite. They got to know my mum really well and sent carers to match her personality and were more like friends than carers to her, although always in a professional and caring manner. If I have had any concerns about my mum and her care they have always returned my call promptly and answered any concerns I've had, they have worked with myself and my mum to make changes to her care as needed when there have been changes in her health. I always felt confident my mum was receiving quality care by staff who really cared.

I have been looked after by carers from Home Instead since returning to my flat after almost 3 years in hospital and physio rehab. I live on my own and have family in a village outside Harborough. The carers who come to me have become treasured friends. They often have the same interests as me (dogs, wild birds, travelling and Tv programmes) so we have a lot to talk about. Thanks to their visits I have improved enormously and am able to look after myself (shower, cooking, Dressing and getting ready for bed). They sometimes shop for me although I am now able to walk into town with a 4 wheel walker. They help keep my flat tidy so family and visitors are happy, me too. They change my bed sheets and I do the washing. I enjoy being able to do things for myself. I also enjoy having people look after me but must learn to be independent again.

Home Instead have been a huge help to us during the decline of my father due to dementia and other illnesses. They have juggled and upped the care accordingly until my father had to go into a care home. His often challenging behaviour was never an issue for them and we received regular calls and feedback from them. All the carers were amazing and seemed to go that extra mile always. We are so grateful.

Having never employed a live-in carer my wife and I were interested in a brief, 48-hour stay to see how it might meet her needs since she is wheelchair-bound and in her twenty-first year of Parkinson's. From the moment the carer arrived there was a sense that our decision was the right one. Her warm personality and instant friendliness instilled a feeling of confidence, allowing me to go away secure in the knowledge that all would be well. As I found out on my return all the challenges of care had been dealt with extremely well and my wife had made a new friend whose company she genuinely enjoyed. Without question, we'll be using this outstanding service again. Many thanks to all concerned.

Home Instead was recommended to me by relatives. My mom needed consistent carers who she knows and come regularly so we opted for Home Instead. The carers show an interest in what Mum likes to do and talk about, giving social interaction as well as hygiene 'bathing' visits. My mom can be 'difficult' at times and the staff are friendly and caring. It's a 'day off' for the family when they visit instead.

The care we take with matching our care team to the client's hobbies and interests is an important part of building the trust that makes it easier for our clients to accept us into their homes and lives. I am so pleased to hear the family are also feeling the benefit of our support.

Angela Farrow

Angela, from Market Harborough, has been with Home Instead since its inception. Fully Care qualified & experienced and Home Instead City & Guilds Accredited trainer in Alzheimer's and Dementia, & End of Life, with Level 7 Leadership Health & Social Care, Angela did her Home Instead CAREGiver training with the first group when the company opened and has delivered exemplary care to many Home Instead clients in the area. Her great strength though is in people management and she has a wealth of experience in the service-based industry. This appointment has brought her full circle back into the health and wellbeing sector from when she was practice manager at a Health Centre in Perth Australia.

Angela commented, “I am very excited to be in this role. I have worked with Gail for many years and I admire her hard work and dedication to the vision of changing the face of ageing by providing top-quality care to the elderly. We only provide a minimum of one-hour visits and each caregiver is matched to their client, this ensures that we always maintain continuity of caregiver which helps to develop a trusting relationship.”

The only East Midlands home care provider for the elderly rated Outstanding in all areas by CQC makes me very proud. With local staff, we support clients in Leicester, Market Harborough, Oadby, Corby and Rutland areas with the highest quality companionship, care and personalised attention.

Caring for family members I realised that there was a real gap in provision for those who were "nervous of letting just anyone into their home" and seeing how a carefully matched and trained caregiver could make a difference to an individual's life, inspired me to open the local office.

Lucy joined Home Instead as a part-time caregiver, then developed progressed through scheduling to attain her Level 3 professional qualifications and join our team as our Care Manager. With a lifelong passion for caring for others, her early-bird hobbies (as well as a busy family life) are her two dogs and horses.
