Home Instead looked after my mother-in-law from 2013 (when she had to be persuaded that care visits were becoming necessary!) right through to her recent palliative care at home, where she passed away aged 100.
During this time her caregivers became her friends and she looked upon them as though they were part of her family. The company’s policy is to match caregivers to the client carefully and to minimise the number of different faces the client sees. This worked extremely well with my mother-in-law, who despite her age still had an active mind and interests. She also liked things done her own way and they were very comfortable working along with her.
The last year or so became quite hard work, but the managers and carers were always prepared to adapt to her changing care needs with a very can-do attitude.
Thank you - all of you.
We find the service very caring and efficient. All the carers are kind and considerate and appear well trained. We particularly like the fact that the same carers attend on a regular basis and are able to build up a positive friendly relationship.
Home Instead has provided a care service that I cannot fault. The organisational/managerial expertise from the office has ensured that my parents have had familiar carers when needed and care has been varied as requested, often at very short notice. The carers have been friendly, well trained, observant, polite and efficient and above all, have shown exceptional practical and emotional support, caring with real concern and developing sympathetic relationships with my parents. Communication with Home Instead has been easy and transparent and all visit reports and care concerns have always been recorded and actioned with great sensitivity and dignity.
We have used Home Instead for about two years now to care for my husband, who has Parkinson's. They have been extremely reliable and helpful, and on the whole, my husband gets on very well with the carers.
Home Instead (Milton Keynes) has provided my mother-in-law with excellent care at home for over eighteen months. This care has enabled her to stay in her own home for as long as possible. The staff have been very patient with her, although her dementia has made this very difficult at times. They have been able to encourage her to do things when she has refused to do them for the family. The notes provided on the app after each visit have enabled us to keep an eye on my mother-in-law and have given us fair warning when problems have been brewing. We could even monitor her while we were abroad on holiday. The office staff have always been helpful and accommodating when we need help or need to make changes.
My mum was looked after for over 2 years by the staff of Home Instead (Milton Keynes). They are fantastic. They looked after my mum as if she was their own mum. The carers and admin staff are truly angels. Nothing more I can say.
Over the years, as mum's condition slowly progressed, I can only describe the help that we got from the Home Instead team as like having your most trusted friend or family member alongside you, giving their very best and guiding you to give your best, to your loved one. They gave mum a happy, dignified and meaningful life so that mum was never defined by her illness which we just called her 'wonky memory'.
Thank you to all at Home Instead.
Home Instead was Dad's home care providers for 5 years up until his death in July 2020. They matched the carer's to his personality and needs extremely well. They were flexible to his changing circumstances and gradual progression of dementia. They worked closely with me and my brother to 'manage' everything, including doctors and hospital appointments, hearing clinic, dentists, specs etc. A wonderful company and care team that often went 'above the call of duty' and helped Dad make it to his 100th birthday!
I chose Home Instead (Milton Keynes) for morning and evening care for my Mum (now 98, still living alone) after much research. I didn’t want carers turning up any time from 6 pm trying to persuade my Mum to go to bed (I know she would refuse), or, indeed, a carer who needed to be in and out within 20 minutes leaving Mum confused. I wanted to be able to stipulate a reasonable bedtime slot and be satisfied that Mum had the opportunity of a social visit too. With Home Instead, I have just that. The consistent timing for the one hour (minimum) visit in the morning and evening is great. Having a small team of regular ladies helps with Mum’s dementia, and it means they all know her (and her foibles) well. They join in with her singing, help her with her Wordsearch puzzles and they have a good laugh together, a real social visit as well as a caring visit. Just brilliant! Mum, who adamantly didn’t want carers, is enjoying the services of Home Instead as much as I am! I love the immediate access to visit notes too.
Right from the beginning of Mum's visits, we were pleasantly surprised at how well the ladies fitted in and how well Mum adapted. Mum struggles with motivation, and her ladies encourage her to try to eat, but without bullying, ultimately it is still Mums choice. Thank you all for your commitment and dedication.
I will never be able to thank the team sufficiently for their cheerful, capable and above all dedicated approach to the tasks they perform and their insistence on making sure that I am also 'cared' for. The chat and banter are a tonic in themselves.
It would be remiss of me not to mention the management team and the way they manage to juggle the sudden problems that inevitably arise in such an undertaking. They too are to be applauded.
Over the past three years, my grandad received fantastic companionship and personal care from all carers from Home Instead. The team also provided amazing support and assistance to myself and my wife enabling us to have respite and peace of mind whilst we were both at work. I cannot recommend Home Instead highly enough to anyone. Thank you to everyone there for my grandad's final years.
Home Instead in Milton Keynes has been providing care for my father for 15-months. During this time, his care needs have increased from five visits a week to four visits per day. Our care coordinator has been amazing and accommodated all of our requests quickly and with such understanding. My father has a team of carers who have taken the time to get to know him, act professionally at all times, manage the bad days along with the good and always turn up with a smile on their faces. As a family, we are very grateful for the support we receive from our care coordinator and her team.
This agency's workers provide a very high standard of care to my elderly mother who has vascular dementia. They go beyond their defined tasks. They use their initiative and do lots of little extra's. My partner and I often find that jobs we thought we would have to do have already been done. Furthermore, the staff that visit my mother provide her with reassurance and companionship both of which are very important as she does not go out. The administrative and organisational side of the business is also very professional. Having experienced the reverse with a previous agency, I find this a great support to me as a carer for my mother. The app is also a great help as I can keep an eye on what is happening to mum even when I am away.
I am very happy with the care my husband receives from our dedicated team of ladies. Each one is so caring and make him laugh. They help me as well.
I have always found Home Instead to give absolutely excellent service. Their visitors have always been friendly and helpful in the extreme, as had the admin when they have contacted me. I can thoroughly recommend them.
We have been very happy with the care given to my husband. All staff are friendly and helpful.
The carers were always friendly and understanding of our mother's needs and performed their duties in a dedicated, warm and caring manner.
Our service agreement with Home Instead was for the provision of specialised care, which was delivered to plan with invoices provided on a regular, monthly basis. We would not hesitate to recommend this care provider.
We first employed the above company after we had to leave Nottingham and move to Milton Keynes after my wife had a severe stroke. From the outset, they helped my wife to help herself, bearing in mind she was paralysed on the right side and had lost her speech. She always looked forward to them coming when she had to have help three times a day due to a further illness the response from the company was quite extraordinary from two persons per day to six persons per day, was arranged overnight. Excellent service was provided by all the personnel at Home Instead.
I can't tell you how wonderful the care has been to my mother. Kind, caring, patient and supportive. Nothing was too much trouble. A huge thank you to my mother's main carer. She was there from the beginning to the end, even putting herself out by attending my mother's funeral. Also, the lady who organised all Mum's visits. A fantastic team!

Meet the Team (5)
My background is within the Hotel & Catering world, having run a Venue Finding Company for 20 years and prior to that working as a National Accounts Manager for a large chain of London Hotels. Service is in my blood, and when researching the Care Industry, I felt that this is a skill that would prove very useful.
I have lived near Olney for over 20 years with my husband Matt and 2 boys (now both young adults), lovely Phoebe, my Wheaten Terrier and 2 cats, Shadow & Mr Mugabe (he really is a dictator!) In my spare time, I love reading and walking in the lovely parks around our home.
Since starting up Home Instead in 2012, we have supported so many wonderful clients to facilitate their wishes to stay at home, wherever that may be, in the place they love or where they feel most comfortable. Getting help or admitting you might need some assistance isn't always an easy decision to make, but we have many years’ experience in the sector and know that choosing the right care is just so important. I do feel very proud of my team of office colleagues and CAREGivers who have embarked on this journey with me - we are always looking at ways we can improve and add another dimension to our wonderful clients' lives.
I started in Health and Social care 17 years ago, when I moved from London to Buckinghamshire. I had two small daughters and wanted something I could do as well as being a mum. Over the years, I have worked as a carer and run daycare centres for the elderly with the British Red Cross. I joined Home Instead in February 2012 when the office was first established. I have always been passionate about the good quality care that was central to each individual, and the Home Instead ethos matched this. When starting with Home Instead, I was the Registered Care Manager. As the company grew, I developed into the Operations Manager. More recently, I have been promoted to the General Manager of the company. I truly believe that we are the best home care company in our area, which has a passionate team in the office and out on the field. Whenever I get free time, I love to travel and embrace new experiences.
As a Care Manager, I am involved in most aspects of the daily delivery of our care services. From the moment we receive a new client enquiry, I will work together with the client and their family to put a plan in place that facilitates their individual needs.
Having over 10 years’ experience in the sector, initially supporting children before I moved into adult social care, I also deliver training to new CAREGivers, teaching them how to administer medication correctly and the principles of moving and handling.
I come from a large family, having 2 sisters and a brother. This makes my home life as busy as my work, as I'm currently living with my partner JJ, mum, dad, sisters, niece and 2 dogs, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
With a background in running pubs, I am used to having to juggle priorities, which is probably why I enjoy my role within the scheduling team so much. Ensuring that our clients get the right people at the right time every day takes dedication and commitment, but the rewards are well worth it. I know how important it is to the people we support to be sure that they can rely on us. Just that little phone call to let them know we are on our way, or that pint of milk we can get for them on our way over, can make all the difference. I still get to go out and see all my clients whilst being a mentor to new CAREGivers, making sure that they feel fully supported.
My role as Deputy Care Manager sees me heavily involved in scheduling visits and liaising with clients, their families and other healthcare professionals to ensure every aspect of their care runs smoothly. Coming from an airline background, delivering great customer service is at the heart of my nature. It’s very important for me to get to know each of our clients and CAREGivers personally. By fully understanding their needs, we can ensure that we respond quickly to any changes.
