I have found all staff and carers at Village Homecare Ltd, with whom I have been involved, to be both friendly and very professional. They aim to provide each individual client with the care necessary for them to have the best possible quality of life and independence. The client is treated with dignity and respect and has complete involvement with every aspect of their care. Being a smaller privately run company I feel you get a more personal and individual service than if it was a larger organisation. In my opinion, Village Homecare offers excellent value for money.
The care for my parent was consistent and extremely person-centred. The process before the care package started was an in-depth discussion with the manager who supported me through the care plan and assessment process, this helped me a lot as I have never dealt with somebody receiving care on a personal basis before. The girls were all lovely and went the extra mile to make sure my parent was comfortable, dry and had taken nourishment. Since my parent has passed, I miss the regular visits from the staff and the gaiety they brought to our home. Thank you for all your support.
Great bunch of carers, always happy to help.
The carers sometimes arrived just after 8pm and she was hustled to bed when our friends were still here and of course, she did not like this! (we realise that they had other visits to make and our time was not always convenient).
The lady is now permanently in a local care home. Overall, we were very grateful for the care provided.
Village Homecare were able to provide a putting to bed service at a sensible time in the evening. The carers were all kind and efficient and helpful in every way. Several times we had to call or re-arrange due to hospital admissions and every time they managed to accommodate us. Finally, when we needed to increase to a morning call this was arranged immediately on request.
Personal care is provided twice daily for my father. On the whole he is very happy with the girls that have delivered the care. The standard of bed-bathing by all the girls is good. They are sympathetic to his needs and have a good rapport with him. He was very reluctant to have home care but has been pleasantly surprised. Contact with he office staff has been positive. They have tried to address any problems we have had. The odd week a plan of who is visiting hasn't been provided and this has upset them as they like to know who will be visiting.
Depending on which carers we get, some do more than others, but they are kind to mum and that's all that counts.
Village Homecare (VHC) provided excellent care for my mother for 3 years.
Mum has very particular and complicated care needs. In the last 3 years her physical disability worsened but she was determined to hold onto her independence and stay at home (in an isolated part of W. Leics). She is mentally sharp, often anxious, and probably has OCD. Many carers have found it hard to work with her, as she would not change her ways. For two years before VHC got involved, we had been struggling to get adequate evening care. No one agency could provide both evening and morning care, so we ended up with two. We had tried recruiting personal assistants, used 5 other care agencies, phoned dozens of others, and did care calls ourselves. No-one else was able to keep up providing the evening calls Mum required.
VHC changed all that. They were able to provide consistent and reliable care for 3 years, and keep Mum living at home longer than she would have done otherwise. Their carers were kind, helpful, respectful of Mum's unusual ways, and often went the extra mile. VHC were relaxed about accommodating changes to Mum's care needs, both planned and unplanned. They were flexible about changing times of care, and increasing the length of calls and adding afternoon calls when they were needed. They kept Mum safe without getting caught up with unnecessary rules. They were quick to report problems and deal with them when they arose without blaming Mum, as some had done. They were always polite and helpful and generous with their time, in person and on the phone.
We particularly appreciated VHC's flexibility in Mum's last year at home, when she was becoming more and more disabled and needing more care, and it sometimes wasn't clear what care she would need week to week. It was only when Mum got to the stage of needing carers around 24/7 that she had to go into a care home. Although she wasn't able to continue living at home in the end, VHC helped make her last years there possible.
