I would hate to think of life without Aberness Care, they keep me sane, amused, clean of course, helpful, and always ready to go the extra mile. Having no near relatives I look on them as my family.

My mum has been receiving first-class care and support at home 4 times a day. This has allowed Mum to stay in her own home, empowering her to have some independence and dignity.
This has been a huge relief for myself and rest of the family knowing she has regular excellent care and contact. They provide
her with meals and prompt Mum with her medication along with personal care, laundry and washing the dishes when required.
Nothing ever seems to be a problem for them and I feel reassured that they feel confident to contact me if any concerns with Mum.
The team leader is fantastic and very approachable.
Mum says now that she couldn't live in her house without the girls coming in.
Everyone of them are empathetic and professional. I can't thank them enough

We have used two Aberness carers for mum over the last two years to help with socialisation and house help and as mum has deteriorated their help and care have been even more valuable. Cannot praise the care and assistance enough and mum has got to know them and trust them over this time. They become
part of family life. Thank you so much for easing the load.

The carers put us at ease right away. As we were a complex case, didn't know much about anything, but have since learned a lot along the way. Some of your carers go over and above for us and we are grateful. When life changes so much for us, we could not manage without the carers and our wonderful family.

Aberness provide good care, but some staff don't seem to have had a lot of training, for example, use of hoist and stand aid.
Reply from Mairi MacLeod, Managing Director at Aberness Care LtdAll staff have full Moving and Handling training before commencing work, followed by annual refresher training. Aberness have their own M&H trainer who is always available for support and advice.

We had an urgent requirement to set up care support for my father, who was discharged from the hospital with no advanced notice. The manager immediately recognised the street we were under and had carers available to visit at short notice. All three carers who attended to my father were superb. They
visited on time and during their shift, they carried out duties, which made my father feel comfortable, respected and took the strain off the family. We were delighted with the service.

I like the office keeping in touch with me about staff and changes. I like the staff to arrive on time and leave at the right time. This makes me feel better and not worry about it. I don't like it when they don't follow routines. I like new staff to shadow before they start working with me.

At the age of 74, I do not consider myself elderly yet at present, I have home care am and pm as I am ok throughout the day. My first carer was an excellent carer and certainly fitted the bill and as an ex nursing home carer, I was impressed. Once she arrived with a new carer to show her the ropes.
Again, an excellent carer who followed on from the teaching given. Another carer, who shadowed number 2 carer is very lovely, very chatty but is the only one who doesn't make my bed. When my knee is finally replaced I will no longer require carers.

I had always dreaded getting care into my home because I was embarrassed. But after my husband broke his shoulder I was forced to get help. Well, I am delighted with the girls, they are all lovely, helpful and put me at ease. The best thing I did, should have done it a long time ago.

I found all our carers good. The more mature carers give lots of helpful advice and notice all sorts of things that might help my husband eg dry skin, red marks. Not happy to hear some carers are not vaccinated against covid and some not doing tests. Also, one carer still partying and going out of permitted
area.
Reply from Mairi MacLeod, Managing Director at Aberness Care LtdMost of our carers have received the vaccination, however, it is currently not compulsory. All the staff are also weekly tested and results sent directly to Aberness. With regard to a carer partying, this is something that will be dealt with by Management.

I have been very impressed how the carers have coped with my mum who can be difficult at times. They have got her chatting, doing simple crafts and taken her out in her wheelchair which she loves. Each time they have met people who know mum and were able to chat with her. She was a very hospitable person
in years gone by and has enjoyed having them. I have appreciated the free time and feel confident leaving her in the care and with the carers.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.861 for Aberness Care Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (110 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 122 Ratings = 4.861
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Aberness Care Ltd is based on 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
