I have found the carers to be very kind and helpful - willing to undertake some things that I need to be done in the time they are here.

I cannot rate the agency enough. They were hugely professional on the initial meet and have shown every level of flexibility to meet my mother's needs. I have a regular carer who offers mum safety and comfort in her home twice daily whilst I have the phone number so I can contact that carer who is able
to tell me if Mum is better or worse when I am not living there so I can alter my plans and visits accordingly; a huge comfort.
We have used both the domestic care and residential from Caremark and have found all people who have been in my mum's house to be sensitive to the fact it is her home and that Mum has lived independently alone for decades. It is hard to demonstrate that level of respect and balance the increasing needs of care with my mum's years of independence.
It is not a case of how likely I am to recommend them, in fact, as I have already done so!

On the whole, the family are very happy with the standard of care given to my mother. Particularly good things are:
1) Most of the time you keep to the 3 staff that she knows well.
2) These regular staff have formed excellent relationships with her
3) I am always able to get through to the office
staff, they are always on the ball and helpful.
One thing that works less well is phone calls about changes to care which sometimes get distorted. This seems to be due to the message going from me to office staff, then on to the carers. It works better if I speak to the carers directly.
One other comment: the recent big increase in cost for 30-minute calls which is going to cause a funding problem as the local authority won't pay it.

Over the past 3 years, Mum had Caremark staff looking after her personal needs. I have found their standard of care to be high and professional and their approach to Mum is very warming and understanding toward her needs on several occasions. Some of the staff had gone beyond their duties in caring
for her so I would like to say thank you to all staff who attended to Mum.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.667 for Caremark North Herts & Stevenage is calculated as follows: ( (98 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.667
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Caremark North Herts & Stevenage is based on 24 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Marketing and Community Engagement Manager Joined: 2025

I joined the team in June 2025 as Marketing Manager, with a focus on building strong local partnerships that support better outcomes for people receiving homecare.

My decision to work in homecare is driven by a desire to help remove the barriers of loneliness and isolation, which is an unfortunate reality for many in our community. I am fortunate to be able to work directly to help remove the barriers, like transport and confidence, which make it difficult to stay connected.

Our work with local organisations helps bring meaningful activities and opportunities to people who may otherwise feel isolated, supporting them to live more connected and fulfilling lives.
