Home Instead gives fantastic support to my mother by providing excellent levels of care. Additionally I feel very well supported by the company who always respond immediately to requests. My mother enjoys the company of all of the carers who attend and appreciates all that they do to make her life easier. we would highly recommend the company to others.
Thank you for your lovely review, Julie. Your feedback helps other families learn about Home Instead - Cleveland, and it is a privilege to care for your wonderful mum. Jenni
I'm so pleased with the service provided by homecare. Communication has been excellent and they are diligent in assessing and reviewing my dads needs. The designated care worker is flexible in approach, goes above and beyond and really cares.
We look forward to continuing to support your dad and to walking alongside you both on this journey.
Home Instead provided outstanding levels of care, kindness, practical help and cheerfulness to my sister. My sister lived alone and was fiercely independent, but came to look forward to her carers' twice daily visits to provide companionship, supervise medication, go for walks, do housework, pop to the shops together and cook meals. Her final months would have been bleak without Home Instead. I live 250 miles away, and really valued how the carers' notes let me know how she was doing, more accurately than a phone call to her could. I can't thank the entire team enough for pulling out all the stops to provide continuity of care for my sister when it came to end of life care. This was an extremely difficult week, as we sought to honour my sister's wishes that she finish her days in her own home. Not only did Home Instead show exemplary levels of professionalism and kindness towards my sister, they became our support network too, looking after us as well. Thank you all so much.
From the moment I met Sarah, I knew she was someone truly special. She was fiercely independent, and we were committed to supporting her without ever taking that away. We moved at Sarah's pace, and it was an absolute honour to know her. She has left a lasting and immeasurable impact on both myself and the care professional team. Sending love to all of Sarah's family.
He was a very independent man and did not take easily to having carers at 90 years old but they all had remarkable patience and understanding with him and won him round admirably to the point he was actually looking forward their company and visits !
The dedication of of all the carers there that attended Dad was outstanding and the support they gave to us certainly helped my sister and I cope with what was going to be the inevitable .
For anyone in need of care there is no other company to recommend other than Home Instead.
We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts .
Thank you so much for your positive words. Are carers are invaluable and we are proud of the care they deliver daily. Thank you again.
Home Instead was originally supporting my brother-in-law, and my sister-in-law who had dementia. The support given to both of them was exemplary, helping them with practicalities and quickly building up a caring relationship. My sister-in-law died recently, and the care my brother-in-law is still receiving is invaluable as, not living on the doorstep, we need to feel he is being supported more than ever, and we are reassured that Home Instead is there for him in all aspects of care and companionship. We know we can rely on them to let us know of any concerns which we need to be aware of, and have always felt that they truly care for his wellbeing, and indeed regard them as friends. He has increased the visits from every morning to some additional afternoons and we have nothing but praise for Home Instead and would not hesitate to recommend them to care for loved ones. Thank you all.
Thank you so much for your kind words - we truly appreciate your thoughtful feedback. It was a privilege to care for your incredible sister-in-law, and we are deeply honoured to now be supporting your brother-in-law. He is an absolute delight, and our team genuinely enjoys spending time with him. Thank you again for your trust and support - Jenni
My parents received care and support from Home Instead over a 2 year period and I found the service to be exceptional. All care professionals were kind, friendly and respectful, often going the extra mile to make sure that my parents were safe and happy. As my parents' needs changed, Home Instead were responsive and flexible in adapting to meeting their needs. My brother and I don't live near our parents but our Field Supervisor, would keep us involved where appropriate and alert us to any changes. Home Instead repeatedly demonstrated high quality, compassionate care that I witnessed first hand on the many occasions that I was visiting my parents and I would highly recommend them to care for your loved ones.
Thank you kindly for your reply. We pride ourselves in going above and beyond in our service and have wonderful Care Professionals that demonstrate this daily. Once again, thank you for your service and feedback, it is greatly appreciated.
Communications for my sister and I and also the level of care and support the actual care givers bring to Mum to help her and keep her independent is such a big thing for us and we trust the staff and know exactly how much we will be charged at the end of each month.
Even when we have phoned they always answer and always get back to us quickly. Any thing they are concerned about they phone us - I expect we would be hard pressed to find a better facility - from initial meeting at Mums home and through out - thank you ladies.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. We're truly delighted to hear that you and your sister have been impressed with the service and care provided by our team at Home Instead.Supporting your mum in maintaining her independence is at the heart of what we do, and it means so much to...
Home Instead proved to be a wonderful discovery. They have provided care visits to my elderly father-in-law over a period of approximately two years, starting out with one carer visiting a few times per week to a stage where we had 2-3 visits every day. They provided wonderful support in terms of companionship, medication supervision, meal prep, some cleaning and various other tasks. They were very flexible in terms of being able to accommodate our changing needs for care. This care service has been extremely valuable to us as we live 275 miles away from my father-in-law, and their care allowed him to live at home which is what he wanted rather than go into a care home. The various care staff were all wonderful - I had the chance to meet many of them when father-in-law was admitted to hospital. Sadly he died in there but the staff continued to provide support right to the very end. They may not be the cheapest company but I suspect they are the very best. Very satisfied with them.

The carers are hard working and flexible but more importantly friendly and communicative
It is easy to regard them as friends rather than paid help

Due to dementia, my mum's behaviour can be unpredictable and challenging, and the Home Instead team has appreciated the issues this presents, making changes to the schedule and selecting carers carefully to meet her needs.
Our carers have always been punctual, kind, respectful and caring, and have kept us informed of their visits. We are extremely grateful for their support.

My mum was very against having care professionals in due to her independence but because of illness and a period in hospital and respite she was advised by a doctor that care should be provided. We were recommended Home Instead and had an initial consultation to discuss our needs. Mum was introduced to her first care professional and could not be happier, she has developed such a great bond with the carer and then the following care professionals that were introduced to her. They can't do enough for mum and has really eased the the pressure on the family because we feel comfortable and happy that mum is very well looked after and always inform us if they have any concerns over mums health. They have been wonderful and very helpful. They always go over and beyond. I would highly recommend Home Instead for anyone looking for private care.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We understand how difficult it can be for someone who values their independence to accept care, so it's truly heartening to hear how well your mum has taken to our Care Professionals and the positive relationships she's built with them. We're delighted...
A particular member of staff is fantastic , nothing is too much trouble and I feel my mum is in safe hands.
It does cost a lot when self-funding but probably the same as most organizations

Overall the carers for dad go above and beyond our expectations and past experience with other care providers. We are pleased that they are reliable and on time with their care. They do what is requested of them in the care and companionship of dad.

We're so pleased to hear that our team has exceeded your expectations and that your dad is receiving the reliable, compassionate care he deserves. It's incredibly important to us that our Care Professionals not only meet practical needs...
Care was increased at the end of January with an hour in the morning to help with showering and breakfast. From the request to the first morning call was less that 24 hours - amazing!
We have a few more carers now there are about 6 regular ones. Mum is very happy with them and laughs and jokes with them.
I have a go to person, in the organisation who is able to support what is needed. She always responds to calls and emails.
The carers are very good and nothing is too much trouble. It is obvious how much they like my mum and she responds positively to them. I would highly recommend Home Instead.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. It's been a real privilege to support your mum, and we're so pleased to hear how well things have been going since care began last October. We're glad the transition was smooth and responsive-especially being able to increase care so...
My 89 yr old Dad has been receiving 3 x 1hr visits per week since Dec 2024. We are extremely happy with Home Instead as a very flexible care provider. My Dad is still very independent and this is helping him to remain that way and it has hugely helped me as a daughter to be more of a daughter and not a carer who is always feeling concerned or responsible for his needs. This helps to preserve a good relationship with my Dad.
We began the visits because I was going away on a long 6 week holiday and I needed that reassurance and that was the only reason Dad agreed - he didn't think he needed it of course! The best thing is that he is enjoying the visits and developing a bond with his care providers and he is able to decide when they arrive what he wants them to do so he is still in control. I can make suggestions and his visits always check my list of concerns or guidelines, but Dad is central to their visits and what he needs or wants.
I would thoroughly recommend HI and all the staff
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We're delighted to hear how well your dad is getting on with our team, and how the support is helping him maintain his independence while also giving you peace of mind. It's wonderful to know that our care has allowed you to step back into your role as a...
Great service when my Mum was ill with a chest infection, they made sure she was well cared for, accompanied her to hospital to make sure she was safe and careful handover to Emergency Dept. Care was taken to gather essentials for a stay in hospital just in case. Greatly reassuring to know such care and attention provided. Thank you
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're truly grateful you took the time to share your experience. It was our privilege to support your mum during such a worrying time. Ensuring her comfort, safety, and a smooth handover to the hospital team was very important to us, and we're glad to hear it...
The communication with staff at all levels in organisation has been excellent from day 1 and we've been able to get to a point where the package of care is working extremely well.
Mam has a core team working around her which gives her consistency and routine in her care which is really important for somebody living with dementia and reassuring for family
When a new carer is put on the rota, they always shadow an existing carer so they get to know mams routine/needs - it is this level of service that makes home instead stand out amongst other providers.
The carers go above and beyond in their care of mam and you can really see the dedication they have in carrying out their roles always making sure that mam is safe, well and can make choices when she is able to do so.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt and detailed feedback. We're truly grateful for your kind words and so pleased to hear that the care package is working well for your mam. Consistency and routine are incredibly important for individuals living with dementia, and we're proud that our core team...
One lady recently looked after mum on a visit realising some thing was wrong and called the paramedics whilst I was at work. She made sure she was comfortable and safe until mysekf and the medics arrived. Thank you so much

Meet the Team (6)
I am a local lad, born and bred in Stockton-on-Tees and after moving to London for university and a career, was drawn back quite quickly to my native area where I love to live and where I wanted to bring up my family!
Over the years, I have enjoyed many great times battling on the rugby pitch for Stockton Rugby Club, among other great teams, before my bones and sinews decided they just couldn’t cope with the strains anymore! More sedately, I have been a long-standing member and three times Chairman of Stockton Round Table. This involved me supporting many good local causes and charities, including the elderly, always wanting to be able to contribute to the good of the local community and wider area. On a work front, I have enjoyed a successful career working from the ground up to senior management levels in Human Resources Management and Organisational Development with small as well as very large organisations - I just love being involved with people.
I get a great deal of personal satisfaction from recruiting, training, developing and nurturing great quality staff who deliver fantastic services and who truly enjoy and are totally engaged in the work they do. Whilst always working very hard for other people to improve and bettering their organisations, my real quest has been to run my own top-quality business.
I bumped into Home Instead who were looking to open a new office in Cleveland and have not looked back! Home Instead is renowned for its excellence in providing superior quality care across the UK and the world…..now available to you where you live!
It is a genuine pleasure working with my partner Michelle, helping her realise her ambition to improve the quality of life, independence and happiness of our clients in their own homes where they want to be providing peace of mind for their families at the same time.
Equally, I am thrilled to be able to deliver a sought-after service in the community where I live and to create immensely rewarding local jobs for local ‘superstars’ to care for our local elderly. We love what we do!
Home Instead Cleveland is owned by Gavin Morrigan and Michelle Fairless - ‘real life’ partners as well as Home Instead business partners. Together they have had successful careers providing high-quality, reliable and dependable services with well-regarded companies.
For me it's quite simple, I love what I do! Making a huge difference to families!
I have developed a great passion for providing the highest quality service to older people and their families that sadly I just couldn’t find for my own family when we needed it. Unfortunately, there are many, many people who continue to share my experiences. Knowing of the incredible difficulties and near-impossible challenges many families have faced when service providers have failed to deliver sometimes the most basic levels of dignity and care, my mission has become to provide the very best elderly care possible. We deliver what we promise. My dream to make a real difference is now a reality. It has been so rewarding to see the hugely positive impact that the service we deliver has on people's lives, not only the people we provide care for directly, but their families as well, providing them with much-needed peace of mind through our excellent care and companionship service.
The end result is that this combination enables us to help more people remain independent, happy and fulfilled in their own homes, where most elderly people want to be, for far longer than is often the case with their families knowing they couldn’t have made a better choice. A choice, sadly, I never had.
Outside of work, Gavin and I enjoy many outdoor activities, particularly in the countryside. We also have 4 children, well young adults really who themselves have diverse social lives and sporting interests outside of their studies or work. The final additions are our mischievous cat and playful black Labrador who ensure we are kept busy at all times! Very rarely do we find ourselves wondering what to do next or where to go!
Kate Smith is the Registered Manager at Home Instead Cleveland and joined the Home Instead Family very early in our journey in 2016. Straight out of college, she began her career with us and Kate has flourished and developed her skills to get to where she is now.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2016. At the time I was very new to the working world having just left college and a part-time role with a food chain.
At the time I had no driving license so nearly never got the job, however, after reading to the very end of my CV Gavin noticed I rode a motorbike and the rest was history…
Clients loved that I rode my bike to and from their houses in all weathers to be there for them, and for one particular client, this was a huge topic of conversation being a former motorcycle rider himself.
I soon started working with a variety of clients and this instantly boosted my confidence and people skills and I very quickly realised what I difference I could make.
After some time as a CAREGiver, I was offered a position in the office where I worked with Gavin and Michelle on a daily basis, just the 3 of us! With only a handful of clients to look after.
Now with an office team of 17, I have had the pleasure of not only watching our office team and care pro team grow but to seeing the number of people we support in our local area remain independent at home double each year.
Hobbies/interests:
In my spare time, I like to take my dog Mabel out for long walks around Wynard Woodland Walk and Cotham Woods.
I am generally a creative person and enjoy most things of that nature and I am constantly trying new hobbies and projects.
Tell us something interesting about you that not many people know.
I grow most of my own fruit and vegetables in my garden/allotment and this is something that I really enjoy.
Brenda is our Deputy Care Manager and joined the Home Instead Cleveland family after a long career of 19 years within the Financial Industry and customer service.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I believe the position at Home Instead came my way at the right time in my life. With a wealth of experience from working with Customers and People Management, I knew that my skills would be beneficial in contributing to the Home Instead way and working for a company that not only CQC Outstanding rating but also has a 5-star Best Employee Award, showing me that they not only give a great service to their clients but also deliver a great service as an employee.
Hobbies/interests:
Outside of work, I’m normally running down the road, no I am not being chased, I actually enjoy keeping fit. I enjoy going to the gym and have always been a member of some gyms here and there over the years. I love the outdoors so if I’m not out walking with my dog through the fields, we are camping and living the outdoor life. She is my little companion and has such enjoyment in my life.
You can normally find me in the office eating, if I’m not eating, I’m looking for food to eat, much to the disappointment of those on diets.

I am originally from Northern Ireland, therefore I am of Irish origin, however, sadly my accent does not reflect that. It certainly keeps people guessing though. My childhood years were spent moving around within the armed forces.
Claire Fryett is one of our Care Coordinator/Scheduler, she spent 10 years in retail management before joining the Home Instead Cleveland family.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I joined Home Instead as I was ready for a new challenge. I’d always worked in customer service and am passionate about helping people. I saw this role advertised and knew that it was right for me as it combines both the scheduling aspect and customer service style role that I was looking for. I wanted to work for a company where everybody is happy and enjoys coming to work and that’s exactly what I found here. I’m a people person and I love getting to know our clients are CarePros.
Hobbies/interests:
I live in Middlesbrough and have two young children and a teenage stepson, so I spend my time outside of work with my family. I love to spend weekends walking around the garden centres or having a walk along Redcar seafront with a little trip to the arcades with the kids. In the summer I enjoy family camping and caravanning trips with my husband, kids, and parents. To me, family is the most important thing and I like to make sure every weekend counts. I also have a huge shopping addiction and love hunting out a good bargain!

I have a huge fear of heights, however, on my honeymoon in Mexico, I faced my fears and ziplining across the Mexican jungle. I was absolutely terrified beforehand and even cried in the queue before the first zipline! However, as soon as I completed the first one I was absolutely hooked, it was the most exciting and amazing experience of my life and I’d love to go back and do it again.
Ross is the recruiter for Home Instead Cleveland and joined the Home Instead family in October 2021 after working for Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) as a Trainee Officer.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I initially joined Home Instead to assist with admin work, but this quickly escalated into Recruitment Administration and then becoming a Recruiter. For many years before my joining, I had heard great things about the company, its ethos, and its scope for the future and this attracted me to join when the position became available.
My Hobbies and interests include:
- Keeping fit at the gym
