I would like to share, by request of my parents (who were very reluctant to accept help in their home) how delighted they are with the home helper. She has been coming for just over a month now, for 1 hour for 3 days in a week and she has made such a difference to my parent's meal times. My parents are now thrilled that they accepted Homecare Services into their lives, but even more thrilled with their carer. The area manager, after her induction appointment with my parents, knew just who would suit their needs and personality. I am very grateful for the attention to detail when selecting their carer. Thank you all so much.
We're so pleased that your parents have accepted support to retain their independence at home. Like many elderly people who often see any external help as an 'invasion', they have discovered that if they find the right person to support them, how quickly they become able to enjoy again those things they thought might be disappearing from their lives. We're glad mum and dad are delighted now.
I have been so impressed by the love, care and attention that Home Instead Stockton have given my parents over the past couple of years. They were a Godsend for myself and my brother and sister. My parents wanted to live in their own home and finding Home Instead made this possible. All the carers are properly vetted yet they bring more than just professional care, they love what they do and they have been a friend, mentor and a loving companion for my parents. It has been so reassuring to know they are in good hands. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
We have been honoured to have been chosen by you and your siblings to support your mum and your dad with you all living elsewhere, though visiting regularly. Our Caregivers love to visit and have always been almost ‘possessive’ about being able to spend quality time with them such are the great...
I find that Home Instead Senior Care (Cleveland) is just what I need. The caregivers are very caring and helpful and put me at ease. I think of them as friends rather than caregivers. My life without them would not be as fulfilling.
Your friends have been delighted to be able to support you and really enjoy the regular company you keep. You have a wonderful and witty character, always positive and upbeat despite challenges faced - being with you and being able to support you is a real delight!
They are very professional and they make sure the care is at its best.
It gives him something to look forward to and the caregiver will take him wherever he wants to go - the seaside, the countryside or a visit to where he used to live or will sit and chat and help Dad remember about the past by looking through photos. etc.
It's really good for my Dad to be able to get out and gives him a real lift. It also helps take the pressure away from me as I know that someone else is going to visit him.
A lovely man - your dad is the perfect gentleman and loves to reminisce about his earlier days and enjoys great comfort knowing that his visits will always happen, week in, week out. Thank you for sharing.
I am 97 years old and I have been with the help of Home Instead Senior Care (Cleveland) since 10th May 2017. I was given the names of these caregivers who come to see me three times weekly to assist me with bathing and anything else I require to make my life easier. I could not have better people to help me at all times, they are wonderful and through them, I have been able to keep my legs going for a walk in our park with the help of my walker to hold onto. It has a seat so I can sit as I go along. If the weather is bad we find other means of help in the house. I always look forward to the next visit with such lovely people.
We thoroughly enjoy our time together too and relish our visits with you. You are a pleasure to be with. Thank you for taking the time to let others know how much you appreciate and look forward to your ladies' visits.
I have been receiving this service weekly for over seven months and cannot praise too highly the lady who acts as my 'guide'. Her energy, diligence and enthusiasm are part of the routine.
Cleaning duties are backed up by friendly practice and advise when needed. The administrative side is also very professional and friendly.
Thank you very much for your appreciation for your Caregiver and the office support too. All work very hard to make it a seamless and responsive service. Your Caregiver enjoys helping you with the support you require around your home and considers you a true gentleman!
The care and attention given to my mother whilst we were away was exemplary and my mother loved having the ladies in the home looking after her. It gave me real peace of mind too and the carers were forthcoming on the phone whilst we were away. This is the third time we have used the company, and we have three further stays booked in! We’re all so happy we came across Home Instead!
Our Caregivers look forward to your trips away! Simply because they love having the opportunity visiting your mum and keeping great company with her and her dogs. We’re glad you can keep enjoying those business trips and holidays knowing mum is safe and well.
No uniforms and kind, respectful staff that have been carefully matched to dad (older guys who he can chat to and consider as friends, not carers) mean that he took to the 'intrusion' remarkably well, allowing him to manage his medication, eat properly, wash etc.
Socially, dad likes to be out and about, so having someone who can drive him places, ensure he doesn't get lost, help him find the bathroom and just some company over a pint or a meal has been invaluable.
The carers are our eyes and ears, flagging concerns to us before they become a bigger problem (given that we all live at a distance, and are not able to see him daily). It has enabled a good quality of life that simply wouldn't have been possible otherwise.
Thank you very much for your kind comments. Your fathers’ Caregivers care immensely for him and are delighted to be able to support him and your family with all you do for your dad, helping him enjoy living well with his dementia. He has a great character and it is an honour looking after him.
I could not have expected better.
It is a pleasure supporting you and we completely admire your determination and resilience.
We have help with personal washing for my wife twice per week. The service provided is excellent.
Thank you for your appreciation. We love coming to visit you both and are always warmly welcomed by the option of tea, coffee or gin! You are delightful people to visit.
I feel so fortunate to have found Home Instead and their team of caregivers, especially my current carer who has been coming to me for 2 1/2 years for 2 hours twice a week. She greets me with a warm smile and cheerful greeting which is followed by my breakfast with tea, a catch-up and a plan of activities. These include household tasks, cooking, ironing, gardening, along with iPad sessions and shopping outings. She is very caring and aware of my limited mobility. This, in turn, enables me to maintain much of my independence, both in and out of my home, always feeling safe in her company. My daughter, who lives an hour's drive away is so pleased that I get such care and the service meets my needs and gives her peace of mind.
My Mother has dementia and needed overnight waking care. Home Instead (Stockton) provided a rota of experienced, professional and very caring ladies who were very diligent to build a rapport with my Mother even though her behaviour can be challenging at times due to the nature of the illness. Contact with the Manager and the office support staff was a delight, as the service was always very friendly, supportive, understanding and prompt. A thoroughly professional company.
Thank you very much for your commendation for the support we were able to offer your mum. Our Caregivers loved looking after your mum, each developing a good relationship to help her live well with her particular type of dementia.
I find the care invaluable as I need help with washing, cooking and taken outdoors when possible. I am treated with kindness, respect and care.
We're delighted to know you regard the support as invaluable and have found the right Caregivers. Your wit, humour and initiation of new Caregivers has made for the perfect match!
Glad I went to Home Instead to have help with shopping and getting out.
Thank you very much for your kind words. Your Caregiver looks forward to your company and your humour too! What a great time you both have together!
We go shopping together every Wednesday and I find the experience very enjoyable. As I am not able to go out on my own, I fall very easily and so I have lost my confidence to go out on my own. I look forward to my weekly excursions as I live on my own. My choice! This weekly experience in very important to me, I should be housebound without it.
We're so pleased to be able assist you with getting out and about. Your Caregiver loves your excursions too and looks forward to them. Thank you for taking the time to complete this review.
I have used this agency for over a year and have always found them excellent to deal with. From the ease of arranging care and asking for extra hours, to the warm, loving and effective caregivers. I know, my mum will always get wonderful care and she is always happy to see any and all of the dedicated selection of carers introduced to her. From office staff to carers, I am very impressed and would recommend willingly.
Thank you very much for your appreciation of our lovely and compassionate Caregivers. We do try very hard to make sure everybody is the perfect match and we're so glad to have been given the opportunity to help your mum for the many hours each day and the sleepovers she has. Caregivers often remark on how rewarding they find it supporting your mum and your family.
Good as I would expect. Effort is made by the company to suitably match the provider with the client.
We're glad to have been able to be flexible around your changing requirements. We understand how important it is for men to have male company also and our Caregivers enjoy the interesting conversations and excursions. Thank you.
Very caring organisation, the carers who visit dad are very reliable, conscientious and hard working and dad is happy for them to visit which is a testimony to their caring abilities and nature.
Thank you for your comments. Our Caregiver finds it a pleasure visiting your Dad.

Meet the Team (6)
I am a local lad, born and bred in Stockton-on-Tees and after moving to London for university and a career, was drawn back quite quickly to my native area where I love to live and where I wanted to bring up my family!
Over the years, I have enjoyed many great times battling on the rugby pitch for Stockton Rugby Club, among other great teams, before my bones and sinews decided they just couldn’t cope with the strains anymore! More sedately, I have been a long-standing member and three times Chairman of Stockton Round Table. This involved me supporting many good local causes and charities, including the elderly, always wanting to be able to contribute to the good of the local community and wider area. On a work front, I have enjoyed a successful career working from the ground up to senior management levels in Human Resources Management and Organisational Development with small as well as very large organisations - I just love being involved with people.
I get a great deal of personal satisfaction from recruiting, training, developing and nurturing great quality staff who deliver fantastic services and who truly enjoy and are totally engaged in the work they do. Whilst always working very hard for other people to improve and bettering their organisations, my real quest has been to run my own top-quality business.
I bumped into Home Instead who were looking to open a new office in Cleveland and have not looked back! Home Instead is renowned for its excellence in providing superior quality care across the UK and the world…..now available to you where you live!
It is a genuine pleasure working with my partner Michelle, helping her realise her ambition to improve the quality of life, independence and happiness of our clients in their own homes where they want to be providing peace of mind for their families at the same time.
Equally, I am thrilled to be able to deliver a sought-after service in the community where I live and to create immensely rewarding local jobs for local ‘superstars’ to care for our local elderly. We love what we do!
Home Instead Cleveland is owned by Gavin Morrigan and Michelle Fairless - ‘real life’ partners as well as Home Instead business partners. Together they have had successful careers providing high-quality, reliable and dependable services with well-regarded companies.
For me it's quite simple, I love what I do! Making a huge difference to families!
I have developed a great passion for providing the highest quality service to older people and their families that sadly I just couldn’t find for my own family when we needed it. Unfortunately, there are many, many people who continue to share my experiences. Knowing of the incredible difficulties and near-impossible challenges many families have faced when service providers have failed to deliver sometimes the most basic levels of dignity and care, my mission has become to provide the very best elderly care possible. We deliver what we promise. My dream to make a real difference is now a reality. It has been so rewarding to see the hugely positive impact that the service we deliver has on people's lives, not only the people we provide care for directly, but their families as well, providing them with much-needed peace of mind through our excellent care and companionship service.
The end result is that this combination enables us to help more people remain independent, happy and fulfilled in their own homes, where most elderly people want to be, for far longer than is often the case with their families knowing they couldn’t have made a better choice. A choice, sadly, I never had.
Outside of work, Gavin and I enjoy many outdoor activities, particularly in the countryside. We also have 4 children, well young adults really who themselves have diverse social lives and sporting interests outside of their studies or work. The final additions are our mischievous cat and playful black Labrador who ensure we are kept busy at all times! Very rarely do we find ourselves wondering what to do next or where to go!
Kate Smith is the Registered Manager at Home Instead Cleveland and joined the Home Instead Family very early in our journey in 2016. Straight out of college, she began her career with us and Kate has flourished and developed her skills to get to where she is now.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2016. At the time I was very new to the working world having just left college and a part-time role with a food chain.
At the time I had no driving license so nearly never got the job, however, after reading to the very end of my CV Gavin noticed I rode a motorbike and the rest was history…
Clients loved that I rode my bike to and from their houses in all weathers to be there for them, and for one particular client, this was a huge topic of conversation being a former motorcycle rider himself.
I soon started working with a variety of clients and this instantly boosted my confidence and people skills and I very quickly realised what I difference I could make.
After some time as a CAREGiver, I was offered a position in the office where I worked with Gavin and Michelle on a daily basis, just the 3 of us! With only a handful of clients to look after.
Now with an office team of 17, I have had the pleasure of not only watching our office team and care pro team grow but to seeing the number of people we support in our local area remain independent at home double each year.
Hobbies/interests:
In my spare time, I like to take my dog Mabel out for long walks around Wynard Woodland Walk and Cotham Woods.
I am generally a creative person and enjoy most things of that nature and I am constantly trying new hobbies and projects.

I grow most of my own fruit and vegetables in my garden/allotment and this is something that I really enjoy.
Brenda is our Deputy Care Manager and joined the Home Instead Cleveland family after a long career of 19 years within the Financial Industry and customer service.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I believe the position at Home Instead came my way at the right time in my life. With a wealth of experience from working with Customers and People Management, I knew that my skills would be beneficial in contributing to the Home Instead way and working for a company that not only CQC Outstanding rating but also has a 5-star Best Employee Award, showing me that they not only give a great service to their clients but also deliver a great service as an employee.
Hobbies/interests:
Outside of work, I’m normally running down the road, no I am not being chased, I actually enjoy keeping fit. I enjoy going to the gym and have always been a member of some gyms here and there over the years. I love the outdoors so if I’m not out walking with my dog through the fields, we are camping and living the outdoor life. She is my little companion and has such enjoyment in my life.
You can normally find me in the office eating, if I’m not eating, I’m looking for food to eat, much to the disappointment of those on diets.
Tell us something interesting about you that not many people know.
I am originally from Northern Ireland, therefore I am of Irish origin, however, sadly my accent does not reflect that. It certainly keeps people guessing though. My childhood years were spent moving around within the armed forces.
Claire Fryett is one of our Care Coordinator/Scheduler, she spent 10 years in retail management before joining the Home Instead Cleveland family.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I joined Home Instead as I was ready for a new challenge. I’d always worked in customer service and am passionate about helping people. I saw this role advertised and knew that it was right for me as it combines both the scheduling aspect and customer service style role that I was looking for. I wanted to work for a company where everybody is happy and enjoys coming to work and that’s exactly what I found here. I’m a people person and I love getting to know our clients are CarePros.
Hobbies/interests:
I live in Middlesbrough and have two young children and a teenage stepson, so I spend my time outside of work with my family. I love to spend weekends walking around the garden centres or having a walk along Redcar seafront with a little trip to the arcades with the kids. In the summer I enjoy family camping and caravanning trips with my husband, kids, and parents. To me, family is the most important thing and I like to make sure every weekend counts. I also have a huge shopping addiction and love hunting out a good bargain!
Tell us something interesting about you that not many people know.
I have a huge fear of heights, however, on my honeymoon in Mexico, I faced my fears and ziplining across the Mexican jungle. I was absolutely terrified beforehand and even cried in the queue before the first zipline! However, as soon as I completed the first one I was absolutely hooked, it was the most exciting and amazing experience of my life and I’d love to go back and do it again.
Ross is the recruiter for Home Instead Cleveland and joined the Home Instead family in October 2021 after working for Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) as a Trainee Officer.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I initially joined Home Instead to assist with admin work, but this quickly escalated into Recruitment Administration and then becoming a Recruiter. For many years before my joining, I had heard great things about the company, its ethos, and its scope for the future and this attracted me to join when the position became available.
My Hobbies and interests include:
- Keeping fit at the gym
- Clay Pigeon Shooting at Thimbleby Shooting Ground
- Watching most sports, my favourites being: UFC, Football, Rugby, and Formula 1

In 2019 I circumnavigated the globe.
