Overall, we are very pleased with the quality of service we have received. Dad enjoys the company of the carers who are first-class and this is supporting him to have a better quality of life. Right from the start, the care team have put Dad at ease and he really values their visits. The care team use their initiative to make Dad comfortable and complete a wide range and variety of tasks to a high standard. There is very good communication with the family. The management has strong policies and practices in place to protect both clients and staff. They are always at the end of the phone to help and nothing is too much trouble to them. They react quickly when extra care or support is needed. Home Instead is a caring company that want the best for their clients and in our opinion, they achieve their goal.
Thank you for your amazing feedback Patricia, we appreciate it more than we can say. Sending best wishes to you, your dad and the rest of your family as always. Kindest Regards, Sophie
Because Home Instead could not fully cover all of my friend's care requirements we had to also employ another company whose care and commitment fell far short of what we had come to expect from Home Instead.
In conclusion, I would advise anyone looking for care for a loved one not to be influenced by price as we felt what we paid for Home Instead was so much more value for money than the cheaper company in fact I have told my family that when I am unable to do things for myself I want Home Instead to look after me!
Wow! Margeret, thank you so much for your amazing feedback. Your review has really made our day! Thank you again, Home Instead Cleveland Team
Home Instead (Cleveland) has been efficient, adaptable and caring from start to finish since we contacted them about a year ago to request that they supplement the care I was giving my mother. My mum had just been diagnosed with a recurrence of cancer and she also had limited mobility on account of a heart condition that affected her circulation. From being a very strong and independent woman she had become very frail and vulnerable. Right from the start, the Home Instead carers were respectful and yet warm and friendly in their approach to her. There were a couple of personality clashes but these were dealt with sensitively and by replacing the carer in question with another and assigning them elsewhere. Every effort was made to put in additional care at short notice when required, and to find a compromise when this was not possible. I should like to thank all the staff of Home Instead, especially the carers, for the way they supported my Mum over the past 10 months.
Alison, thank you so much for your lovely words! We appreciate your feedback more than we can say. Best regards as always, your Home Instead Cleveland Team.
A big thank you to Home Instead (Cleveland) for their very caring staff, who enabled me to return to independent living after an operation, by helping with personal care, companionship and housekeeping tasks.
It was a pleasure to help you regain your independence. We wish you all the best for the future, Kind Regards Home Instead Cleveland.
Incredibly efficient at setting up the care my mum needed and responding to her changing needs. Very impressed with the care my mum is receiving and the kindness shown by the carers. Always easy to contact the managers and they are sympathetic to my mum's situation and provide a range of options. I like the level of flexibility of the service.
Thank you so much for your kind review, its been a pleasure to support your mum and see how the right support can really make a difference. Thanks again, Kate.
Mum has been very independent all of her life and has struggled to come to terms with losing her independence the older and more frail she becomes. It took some time for her to accept that she needed support at home if she was going to safely continue living there. However, once the decision was made we have not regretted it. We made the decision to use Home Instead based on their excellent reputation and a strong ethos of limiting the amount of caregivers involved with customers. This has meant that Mum has got to know the care staff well and that there isn’t an endless stream of different carers visiting in any given week. Office/management staff are highly professional, friendly and client-focused. We, as a family, receive regular communication and updates from the agency and are happy with the standard of service provided. It has meant that Mum has been able to remain living at home and so far has been able to avoid going into a care home. Well done Home Instead!
It has been such a pleasure to enable your mum to remain independent at home. The support she has received in conjunction with her amazing family have proven no matter what life throws, determination and will can enable anyone to remain at home. We are ready for whatever the future brings and are here to support your mum's independence all the way. Thanks again for the kind words.
My fathers care plan is regularly updated and any changes to his care needs are addressed promptly. I am delighted to have found a care provider which genuinely puts the needs of their clients first.
Thank you for your review, Claire. We really do pride ourselves on putting our clients (your father) at the centre of what we do. It's so nice to hear this is seen and recognised. It's so great that a temporary service grew into what is now a great trusting relationship between your father and his...
Home Instead are and have been for several years amazing home carers. They have looked after and supported my Mum with professionalism, understanding and kindness. Their caregivers remain with one client as much as possible, so allowing a relationship to develop. They can turn their hands to all manner of jobs and help needed by Mum. Her carers are totally trustworthy, reliable and friendly. During this pandemic, the team at Home Instead have shown incredible attention to their procedures and safety strategies and have ensured that all their clients and caregivers have stayed safe, to date. No mean feat! Home Instead justly and rightly deserve their high accolade as outstanding home care providers, and my Mum and I are so very fortunate to be their clients.
Julia, thank you so much for this review. The journey we have followed with your mum has been so rewarding. As a family, you have been so kind and welcoming, and your thanks and appreciation, particularly during this tricky time, makes it all worth it. I know that myself and the team in the office...
Thoroughly enjoys and looks forward to her daily visits from the carers.
Highly recommend Home Instead Cleveland.
Any questions, queries or advice sorted immediately by the professional staff.
Credit to you all.
Yvonne, we are so pleased what was once a temporary service from us, has grown into a routine and your mum is really getting along with her caregivers. We hope the relationships being built will grow and develop into a service both yourself and your mum can truly rely upon in any situation and know...
Home Instead have been caring for my mother for 7 months. Before commencing care an assessment was carried out, this included trying to match the personality of the carers with the client something which I believe is very important. They have never failed to turn up at the agreed time and have forged a good relationship with Mum over this time. Any concerns about Mum's health are easy to discuss with staff and are working through. They brighten Mum's day with their presence and I know that she is getting the care that she needs without it being intrusive. Would highly recommend this company.
Thank you for your kind review. We are so happy to hear the service is going well! We look forward to many more months to come and to watch the relationship and trust grow between your mum and her caregivers. Thanks again.
Where to start? - carers who care, not just attend. Fully understand my mother's needs and treat her with full respect with her dementia. Always willing to do that little extra and fully keep myself and family updated with my mother's progress. We have been extremely fortunate to have found such a fantastic care service on the first attempt and don't hesitate to sing their praise.
Kim, thank you so much for your kind words. It's an absolute pleasure to support your mum and we are so pleased that it is the service you wanted for her. The CAREGiver's who visit your mum truly care about her and look forward to each and every visit as she makes them so welcome. We look forward to supporting her for many years to come. Thank you again, Kate.
My mum was very resistant to having people coming to her home to support her and this was a real hurdle for Home Instead to overcome. They worked really hard to build a trusting relationship with Mum, who eventually considered the caregivers as friends. As I live a long way away from Mum, Home Instead supported me too, by going above and beyond to give that extra help and assistance. I would not hesitate in recommending their services.
Thanks again for the kind words, Kate.
Grandma is 96, and the stairs are steep. We want her to be independent for as long as possible, so this means avoiding falls. We encouraged her to bring a bed downstairs, but she found this upsetting and wouldn't entertain the idea simply repeating "no".
Her carer arrived. They have a very trusting relationship. She explained to grandma that now was time to avoid the stairs so she could keep health and go out loads (post lockdown). Grandma accepted this willingly, a testament to their relationship as grandma's way is generally the only way. I was a little jealous, as I got quite a hard time, but we're relieved at the result.
Grandma is safe, we all sleep a lot better when staying over. And, we hope for many years of happy independence.
I know your Grandma's CAREGiver has been supporting her for a long time now and their relationship has strengthened and blossomed over that time.
It's great to know that because of this, your Grandma has taken steps to becoming safer...
My parents have been receiving care and support from Home Instead Senior Care for nearly 12-months. The professionalism, care and support provided by all the carers have been outstanding; they go above and beyond their remit to ensure my Dad is safe and well, and my Mum is supported on a daily basis. This has allowed me to feel reassured and have peace of mind, especially as I live a very long way away from my parents and can only visit them every few weeks.
Thank you for your kind words, we really appreciate the positive review of our services.
They responded quickly when we needed extra care visits, and when we needed more personal care for Mum. The caregiver staff are professional but warm and friendly and Mum enjoys their visits and their company.
I can not fault any of them and they often go out of their way to respond creatively and sensitively to Mum’s needs. I could not have managed Mum’s care without them. The office staff too are very responsive and make sure everything runs smoothly. It takes a lot of pressure off knowing Mum is in such good hands.
I would recommend Home Instead to anyone needing in-home care for themselves or a loved one.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It is great to know that you feel we have found the balance between creating a professional service whilst ensuring it remains person-centered, friendly and caring. It is an honour to support your mum in this way to ensure she remains as independent as possible at home. Thank you again for taking the time to complete a review for us.
Home Instead has been providing care for my mum for a few years now and has always given excellent service. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing home care for any relative. During the Covid outbreak, they have continued to provide a highly professional and personal service for which we are extremely grateful.
Thank you again for taking the time to submit a review, Kate.
Following this, a carer was provided who turned out to be very appropriate to me needs and proved to be very efficient, pleasant, and speedy to handle all problems as they have developed.
Thank you so much for your review, we appreciate the kind words and are really happy you are finding the service helpful and reliable. Thanks again, Kate.
Everything seems to be satisfactory.
I was treated with personal care, with dignity love and kindness while in their care.
Thank you for your review. It has been a complete pleasure being able to support you.
I find the service you offer good. The carers that come to the house are very good, and nothing is a trouble. They are very reliable and always on time.
Thank you for your feedback. We are very pleased that you are happy with the CAREGivers that visit your husband and that they are of great value to you, giving you the necessary support and assistance in your day to day lives, so allowing you to do those things you like to do.

Meet the Team (6)
I am a local lad, born and bred in Stockton-on-Tees and after moving to London for university and a career, was drawn back quite quickly to my native area where I love to live and where I wanted to bring up my family!
Over the years, I have enjoyed many great times battling on the rugby pitch for Stockton Rugby Club, among other great teams, before my bones and sinews decided they just couldn’t cope with the strains anymore! More sedately, I have been a long-standing member and three times Chairman of Stockton Round Table. This involved me supporting many good local causes and charities, including the elderly, always wanting to be able to contribute to the good of the local community and wider area. On a work front, I have enjoyed a successful career working from the ground up to senior management levels in Human Resources Management and Organisational Development with small as well as very large organisations - I just love being involved with people.
I get a great deal of personal satisfaction from recruiting, training, developing and nurturing great quality staff who deliver fantastic services and who truly enjoy and are totally engaged in the work they do. Whilst always working very hard for other people to improve and bettering their organisations, my real quest has been to run my own top-quality business.
I bumped into Home Instead who were looking to open a new office in Cleveland and have not looked back! Home Instead is renowned for its excellence in providing superior quality care across the UK and the world…..now available to you where you live!
It is a genuine pleasure working with my partner Michelle, helping her realise her ambition to improve the quality of life, independence and happiness of our clients in their own homes where they want to be providing peace of mind for their families at the same time.
Equally, I am thrilled to be able to deliver a sought-after service in the community where I live and to create immensely rewarding local jobs for local ‘superstars’ to care for our local elderly. We love what we do!
Home Instead Cleveland is owned by Gavin Morrigan and Michelle Fairless - ‘real life’ partners as well as Home Instead business partners. Together they have had successful careers providing high-quality, reliable and dependable services with well-regarded companies.
For me it's quite simple, I love what I do! Making a huge difference to families!
I have developed a great passion for providing the highest quality service to older people and their families that sadly I just couldn’t find for my own family when we needed it. Unfortunately, there are many, many people who continue to share my experiences. Knowing of the incredible difficulties and near-impossible challenges many families have faced when service providers have failed to deliver sometimes the most basic levels of dignity and care, my mission has become to provide the very best elderly care possible. We deliver what we promise. My dream to make a real difference is now a reality. It has been so rewarding to see the hugely positive impact that the service we deliver has on people's lives, not only the people we provide care for directly, but their families as well, providing them with much-needed peace of mind through our excellent care and companionship service.
The end result is that this combination enables us to help more people remain independent, happy and fulfilled in their own homes, where most elderly people want to be, for far longer than is often the case with their families knowing they couldn’t have made a better choice. A choice, sadly, I never had.
Outside of work, Gavin and I enjoy many outdoor activities, particularly in the countryside. We also have 4 children, well young adults really who themselves have diverse social lives and sporting interests outside of their studies or work. The final additions are our mischievous cat and playful black Labrador who ensure we are kept busy at all times! Very rarely do we find ourselves wondering what to do next or where to go!
Kate Smith is the Registered Manager at Home Instead Cleveland and joined the Home Instead Family very early in our journey in 2016. Straight out of college, she began her career with us and Kate has flourished and developed her skills to get to where she is now.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2016. At the time I was very new to the working world having just left college and a part-time role with a food chain.
At the time I had no driving license so nearly never got the job, however, after reading to the very end of my CV Gavin noticed I rode a motorbike and the rest was history…
Clients loved that I rode my bike to and from their houses in all weathers to be there for them, and for one particular client, this was a huge topic of conversation being a former motorcycle rider himself.
I soon started working with a variety of clients and this instantly boosted my confidence and people skills and I very quickly realised what I difference I could make.
After some time as a CAREGiver, I was offered a position in the office where I worked with Gavin and Michelle on a daily basis, just the 3 of us! With only a handful of clients to look after.
Now with an office team of 17, I have had the pleasure of not only watching our office team and care pro team grow but to seeing the number of people we support in our local area remain independent at home double each year.
Hobbies/interests:
In my spare time, I like to take my dog Mabel out for long walks around Wynard Woodland Walk and Cotham Woods.
I am generally a creative person and enjoy most things of that nature and I am constantly trying new hobbies and projects.

I grow most of my own fruit and vegetables in my garden/allotment and this is something that I really enjoy.
Brenda is our Deputy Care Manager and joined the Home Instead Cleveland family after a long career of 19 years within the Financial Industry and customer service.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I believe the position at Home Instead came my way at the right time in my life. With a wealth of experience from working with Customers and People Management, I knew that my skills would be beneficial in contributing to the Home Instead way and working for a company that not only CQC Outstanding rating but also has a 5-star Best Employee Award, showing me that they not only give a great service to their clients but also deliver a great service as an employee.
Hobbies/interests:
Outside of work, I’m normally running down the road, no I am not being chased, I actually enjoy keeping fit. I enjoy going to the gym and have always been a member of some gyms here and there over the years. I love the outdoors so if I’m not out walking with my dog through the fields, we are camping and living the outdoor life. She is my little companion and has such enjoyment in my life.
You can normally find me in the office eating, if I’m not eating, I’m looking for food to eat, much to the disappointment of those on diets.

I am originally from Northern Ireland, therefore I am of Irish origin, however, sadly my accent does not reflect that. It certainly keeps people guessing though. My childhood years were spent moving around within the armed forces.
Claire Fryett is one of our Care Coordinator/Scheduler, she spent 10 years in retail management before joining the Home Instead Cleveland family.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I joined Home Instead as I was ready for a new challenge. I’d always worked in customer service and am passionate about helping people. I saw this role advertised and knew that it was right for me as it combines both the scheduling aspect and customer service style role that I was looking for. I wanted to work for a company where everybody is happy and enjoys coming to work and that’s exactly what I found here. I’m a people person and I love getting to know our clients are CarePros.
Hobbies/interests:
I live in Middlesbrough and have two young children and a teenage stepson, so I spend my time outside of work with my family. I love to spend weekends walking around the garden centres or having a walk along Redcar seafront with a little trip to the arcades with the kids. In the summer I enjoy family camping and caravanning trips with my husband, kids, and parents. To me, family is the most important thing and I like to make sure every weekend counts. I also have a huge shopping addiction and love hunting out a good bargain!

I have a huge fear of heights, however, on my honeymoon in Mexico, I faced my fears and ziplining across the Mexican jungle. I was absolutely terrified beforehand and even cried in the queue before the first zipline! However, as soon as I completed the first one I was absolutely hooked, it was the most exciting and amazing experience of my life and I’d love to go back and do it again.
Ross is the recruiter for Home Instead Cleveland and joined the Home Instead family in October 2021 after working for Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) as a Trainee Officer.
Reason for joining Home Instead:
I initially joined Home Instead to assist with admin work, but this quickly escalated into Recruitment Administration and then becoming a Recruiter. For many years before my joining, I had heard great things about the company, its ethos, and its scope for the future and this attracted me to join when the position became available.
