They are both in their late eighties with a number of health conditions. The service provided by Home Instead helps them to maintain their independence and stay living in their own home.
The office is very responsive to any requests from the family and the care professionals are all very friendly and helpful.
They write excellent daily care notes in the app which also records tasks completed and has the ability to make comments. The family can access these notes via the app.
The care plan is also available on the app and is reviewed regularly.
Home Instead visits are a minimum of one hour long, which means there is no need to rush anything and the care professionals refer to the family if there is a need to stay longer for any reason.
The service is not the cheapest but we feel the excellent care provided is worth it. Especially as most of the family live a long distance away.
Thank you for your feedback on your experience with us. We are very glad to hear how happy you are with the care we provide to your family.
When my father moved into an assisted living apartment we realised that he needed help with personal and domestic help. He was also quite lonely so needed companionship as well. All the professional carers from Home Instead have been fantastic. They looked after my father with great compassion. I have recently moved my father to be nearer to where I live, I wish I could have taken the professional carers with us but we are now out of their working area. I have though contacted my local branch of Home Instead to take over. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Home Instead (Ilkley & Skipton).
Thank you for your lovely review. We know how much our care givers are going to miss seeing Dad as they have built up a strong relationship with him. We will also miss him as a regular at our social events.
We have been really impressed with the care and understanding Home Instead has provided for our Mother for the last couple of years. They have adapted to her changing needs and also supported the family to be able to cover additional family activities. The caregivers are carefully chosen to give the appropriate level of care needed and it has been really appreciated that they try, as much as possible, to keep the same people visiting. The carers who have visited have built up a great relationship with her and Mum feels able to trust them. They are generally able to adjust and be flexible to the support needed on a day-to-day basis depending on how Mum is feeling. The office team are quick to deal with any queries and the opportunity to review and update the care plan is helpful. Thank you for all you do.
We are really pleased to hear how much you and your mother are enjoying receiving our support, especially hearing how the relationships between our care givers and your mother have developed. Thank you for your lovely review.
I cannot recommend Home Instead highly enough. Not only does my mum receive sympathetic, courteous and friendly personal care but she has been invited, and goes to, extra social events like fish and chip lunches, singing and cake afternoons and a Christmas party. All unexpected and a lovely chance for Mum to get out and meet some different people. Mum’s personal care helper was chosen carefully to match her personality and she always has time to chat and even think of ways to encourage her to maintain her mobility.
Thank you for your lovely review, it is great to hear how much Mum enjoys coming along to our events. We certainly enjoy seeing her meet new people and feedback like yours demonstrates the importance of social activities.
The care, understanding and empathy shown towards my mum has been exemplary. The care givers have put her needs first and supported her to do as much as she is able. With their practical, hands-on help, it has enabled my mum to remain in the comfort and familiarity of her own home and for that the whole family is extremely grateful.
Thank you for your kind words. We are really pleased to hear the support received from our care givers has helped keep Mum independent and happy at home.
Making the initial contact was easy, and they understood immediately the sort of care I required. They did not pester me but left it to me to make the decision when I was ready. The care they provided showed they had listened to my requests, and she is exactly the sort of person I feel comfortable with. I look forward to her visits.
Thank you for your comments. It's lovely to hear that you are so happy with the service and the care professional you've been matched with.
My aunt lives alone and at 80+ is fiercely independent, having never needed help. Introducing someone into her home was not something she wanted or felt she needed. However, she has become increasingly forgetful (though doesn’t realise she is), was losing weight, and not looking so cared for as before. I am her closest relative but live 200+ miles away. My family and I needed someone to pop in, make sure she was eating, do light housekeeping, and provide us with reassurance as she continues to manage at home. Home Instead visited my aunt for a needs assessment, with an approach that demonstrated an understanding of the circumstances, and has put in place exactly what we wanted. It has not been easy, as my aunt insists she knows nothing about the arrangement from week to week but is gradually accepting of the help. Home Instead also use an app so I can read about each visit, and I can contact the office at any time knowing there is always cover. It is a huge comfort.
My uncle has received fantastic care from the Home Instead (Ilkley & Skipton) team over the past year. From my first phone call to the office we have received attentive, kind and proactive care with the team going the extra mile to ensure my uncle is comfortable and well looked after. In addition, the app is a brilliant resource, I really appreciate being able to look at how things are going on a daily basis. The caregivers are so conscientious and thoughtful, we are very grateful.
Thank you for your kind comments. It has been great to see your uncle become acceptant to care and build a strong relationship with his caregivers. He has remained happy living independently at home which is what we all aim for.
I have received excellent cate from Hone Instead. The carers are friendly, work hard, and I enjoy their company, specifically one carer, and I enjoy an outing to the garden centre from time to time. The coffee and food there are excellent, and my carer enjoys the time out with me!
Thank you for your kind comments. It's a great relationship and it's nice to be appreciated.
Following the passing of my mum in April ‘21, we relocated my dad (with mild dementia) to be nearer family in Yorkshire. The move was a big ordeal for him having lost his partner, moving to a new county and leaving his friends behind. After a short time, we consulted several organisations in the area and we opted for Home Instead who from the start showed a thoughtful, personal understanding of his needs with a professional and caring approach. His new companion visits for a few hours per week, they get on so well. He looks forward to talking and going to new places. Also, additional group outings have been arranged (meet and greets with other members; meals out etc…) where he receives door to door service accompanied by a caring carer which my dad enjoys too. Although this is all a new experience, his confidence is growing each week. This gives us as a family reassurance he has gained some new friendships, interests etc… outside the family unit and is giving him a brighter outlook.
Really pleased to hear that your dad is benefiting from the social aspects of our service. He's a pleasure to support. Thank you for the lovely review.
I know that I speak for the whole family when I say that we couldn’t be happier with the care provision in place.
A huge thank you to the entire team.
Your comments are much appreciated by the whole team, and it has been a pleasure to support your family. Many thanks for your kind words.
I cannot speak highly enough of my carers. They will do anything to help, washing up, tidying, making drinks, as I am rather disabled, I cannot go out alone. But several times a month, outings are arranged, they are such fun. We are taken to the place, helped in and out. If parking close but not available, I am dropped off and helped inside while she parks. Living alone, I appreciate having a chat as well. I cannot imagine life without them.
Thank you for your lovely review. It's great that you value your support and enjoy the companionship.
From experience, it's an emotional time for families to navigate their parents growing old, which has involved some difficult conversations with the team at times. But issues have always been worked at very hard to resolve, and get us to a better place. We feel really listened to and supported as a family by this.
We also value the many small acts of kindness by the Home Instead carers towards my mum and dad on a daily basis, which continues to have a profound impact on their lives and wellbeing I'm sure.
Thank you for your lovely review. It's a pleasure to support your family through tough times and our team will appreciate your kind comments.
I found everything that I needed for my 90-year-old mother, much of which had been lacking with the other company.
The backup staff in the office, who organised the care, paid real attention to detail, found the ideal person to care for Mum, matching her emotional/health needs and providing her with the security and stability which had been lacking previously. She was extremely professional, well qualified, attentive, diligent, and hard-working to a fault. Mum's apartment was spotless, the food was excellent and she was calm and reassured.
When cover was needed (as in, when the carer was on her break) care was always taken to introduce any new carers to my mother and without exception, the carers were kind, helpful, thoughtful and mostly also interesting and engaging people whose company Mum enjoyed. There were never any language problems which is important for someone needing company.
Thank you for your kind review. It's great to hear that our team made a difference in so many ways.
Home Instead have proved to be responsive, caring, professional and efficient. They have been very flexible in adapting to changing circumstances, and the particular problems of relatives who are distant and unable to visit during lockdown. The carers and administration have all been very professional and flexible.
The service offered has been exemplary, and all the caregivers are very thoughtful and are always looking to help Mum. Any changes the family feel need to be made are dealt with very promptly. We particularly find the online app the caregivers complete after each visit summarising how the visit went etc, extremely useful.
Thank you for your review. Our team are happy to help in any way we can.
My ninety two year old mother has weekly visits from carers at Home Instead (Ilkley & Skipton). As I live abroad, these visits and help are so useful for my mother, who during to the health crisis, is very much isolated for the moment. Home Instead (Ilkley & Skipton) carers give her practical help for her every day life, help her with some technological problems but mainly give her very friendly company and bring some normality back into her life. I can recommend Home Instead (Ilkley & Skipton) to other people in similar situations.
Thank you for a lovely review. It's great to know that we are making a difference when it matters most.
Excellent and very supportive, including carers, office staff and management. Just what we needed. My husband trusts his carer implicitly.
It's been a pleasure to support him. Thank you for your review.
All the carers have been very helpful and pleasant. I am happy to continue using your service.
Many thanks for your kind review. Look forward to seeing you again at one of our social events.
Home Instead (Ilkley & Skipton) have been visiting my ninety four year old mother on a daily basis for six months. They visit for one hour each day to check she is okay and for companionship. The carers are excellent and never let us down. The office contacts us direct if there is a problem or query. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your lovely words, Anthony. It is a pleasure to support your mum and we know how well the CAREGivers get along with her and look forward to seeing her.
