My Nana had some complex health issues... when she was good she was really good and tried to be as independent as possible. When she had a turn however it would happen quickly and with little notice and leave her exhausted with very little energy.
These up and down patterns were becoming more frequent and so we contacted Home Instead for extra care and support. They were fantastic at working with us around Nana's requirements as they would change.
The staff were all really friendly and approachable and helped Nana feel independent and comfortable in her own home. It was a huge relief to know someone was visiting her at planned times when myself and other family members were stuck at work!

Would definitely recommend!

Some difficulty with carrying out personal care due to the resistance of service user.
Some encouragement recorded, still resistance.
Sometimes no encouragement, no personal care noted in the report despite the reason for the visit.
Called agency to request attempt to assist with personal care, still no record of carer requesting/supporting with them.
Generally, the carers are lovely and their company enjoyed.

Little trips out much appreciated.

Overall Experience

Extremely friendly. Very supportive to not only to the client, but also to me. When looking for a care agency I emailed 5 different agencies and this was the only one that had a decent website and contacted me. Costs more than the average but would recommend it.

I currently live quite a distance away from her and it is a huge comfort to hear her talk so fondly of her Home Instead carers and to know that she has help and companionship on a daily basis. I needed care for my mum during the Christmas period - finding this was not an easy task but as soon as I spoke with Home Instead, I felt at ease. They returned my calls, arranged meetings for mum to meet the carers in her own home before the start date and were always punctual. Mum had the same 3 carers during the period which allowed her to build relationships and feel secure. They willingly carried out tasks we requested to ensure mum was happy and confident. The companionship shared during the hour-long visits was invaluable.

Overall Experience
An excellent service who went the extra mile. All staff in their unique way gave special care to mum, singing in the afternoon and playing the piano. Preparing fish fingers and chips then reminiscing about fish and chips in paper. Preparing soft boiled eggs and soldiers.
Mum had Alzheimer's and was cared for with dignity, respect and care. When accidents happened staff stayed to change her, not leave her. Patience was evident. The staff allowed mum her her last wishes to stay at home until the end of her days. She was admitted to hospital in her last week and staff visited her there.
A burden was shared and helped us to cope at home.

Home Instead were a Godsend. The care they offered and delivered to my elderly mum - an Alzheimer's sufferer - was first class. Without exception, all the carers were lovely with her, taking the time to chat, sing, do activities and have a good old laugh. They would help her to eat, help with personal care and at all times treated her with dignity, respect and care.

I would not hesitate to recommend Home Instead Salford to anyone. They were reliable, consistent and always went the extra mile. My mum's last months were much richer for having her wonderful carers in her life.

Overall Experience

Although my mum is in her 80s and becoming increasingly frail, she does not feel that she needs care. This situation has been handled with sensitivity and good humour by all of the Home Instead team. They are punctual and reliable and go out of their way to make sure that any requests we make are complied with. It has been a massive weight off my mind to know that the team are on hand. The office staff are unfailingly helpful - changing and amending call times to suit changes in plan. I am really pleased that I contacted Home Instead and cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you to all the team.

My Dad has been poorly for several years, and in this time, I have had to find care worthy of him. This has been a long and difficult task, with many challenging times, with poor care agencies, who promised the earth and gave us one problem after the other and never delivered just basic care. Until we came into contact with Home Instead, Salford. I have to say my Dad is looked after now every day, by the best caregivers. The service is amazing, so if you are looking for care, I would absolutely recommend them, they always go above and beyond. This means my Dad is now happy getting all he needs. We as a family never worry about anything, which is a great benefit to us. I can not speak highly enough of them. We are eternally grateful.

Susan Robinson Job Title: Director - Co Founder Joined: 2016
Susan Robinson

My name is Susan Robinson, and I am the owner of Home Instead Salford and Worsley. I have lived and worked in Salford all my life, and I am immensely proud to be part of this vibrant and ever-changing city.

Although I have owned and managed two exciting businesses in the past, more recently I have volunteered and worked in several primary schools in Salford. A large proportion of my time involved developing relationships between the school, families and the wider community. My passion for community development grew very quickly, and I had no intention of changing my career path.

However, I needed some support from my mum when we were going on holiday in August 2015. It was at this time that I was introduced to Home Instead Senior Care. I was amazed at the culture and ethos of the company. Love, care and compassion are at the heart of the Home Instead philosophy. When I realised that there was an opportunity in Salford to support individuals in their own homes, where they are most happy and comfortable, I grabbed it with both hands.

Nicky Leack, Registered Care Manager

Nicky has worked in the care sector since 2004 in various settings and started his career as a carer, progressing quickly into the management of services.

He gained NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management of care services. He is delighted to be the Registered Care Manager at Home Instead, Salford and Worsley - an office that has recently achieved an 'outstanding' CQC rating.

Giving back is a big part of Nicky's personal philosophy and he is dedicated and passionate about making sure that people are provided with the highest quality service.

Outside work, he enjoys spending time with his partner and three beautiful children.

Madison Greenhalgh Job Title: Office Co-Ordinator Joined: 2018
Madison Greenhalgh

Madison joined Home Instead Salford in March 2018 to commence a Business Administration Apprenticeship. Madison’s thirst for knowledge continues as she studies for level 4 in business studies.

Madison has enjoyed many job roles and is now the linchpin of the office environment. Madison is a vital link between Care Professionals, Clients, family members and all Key Players.

Jo joined Home Instead as a Care Professional in 2016 and consistently provided exceptional care to our Clients. In 2022, she was offered a new role as Community Engagement Champion (CEC). Jo is a great ambassador for Home Instead and is always out and about in Salford!

Gemma Brookes Job Title: Trainer & Quality Lead Joined: 2019
Gemma Brookes

Gemma joined Home Instead Salford in April 2019 and has proved to be a vital member of the Home Instead Salford & Worsley team.

Gemma does not want to lose touch with visiting Clients and delivering care when needed. She is often seen out and about visiting Clients and Care Professionals during visits. Gemma is our quality lead out in the community.

Gemma also excels in training our new Care Professionals and takes this role very seriously, always delivering training in a professional, knowledgeable and interesting way. Gemma has spent all her working life in care and has many stories to share, bringing training to life.

“No day is ever the same. I really enjoy delivering training to our new recruits, and I enjoy watching them flourish - delivering care ‘The Home Instead Way! I equally love delivering our City and Guilds-accredited Dementia and End of Life Care. I consider myself privileged and very lucky to work with such a fantastic team of Care Professionals. The support team within the office is also a fantastic group of human beings. We all support each other! I love visiting Clients and supporting our Care Professionals in the community.”

Amy Gowland Job Title: Head of Compliance Joined: 2020
Amy Gowland

Amy joined Home Instead Salford & Worsley in June 2020 and has a degree in occupational therapy, gained at York University. She is continuing with her education, aiming to complete level 4 ‘Lead Practitioner in Adult Care.’

Amy’s Mum was employed at The Woodlands Memory Clinic in Salford for twelve years as a ward administrator. Amy remembers, as a child, helping her mum at summer fairs, Christmas fairs and general fundraising events at The Woodlands and says that it was because of these experiences that she decided to pursue a career in health and social care.

“I love my job here at Home Instead, and I have already learned a great deal. I was leading recruitment and all associated activities, but have now moved to the role of Care Coordinator. This role includes scheduling, which can be very stressful at times, but it also keeps me on my toes. I am always up for a challenge. I deliver care when needed, and I enjoy this too. Liaising with Care Professionals, Clients, and family members is always interesting, and each day is different. There is no time to be bored here at Home Instead!

At home, I love spending time with my friends and family, cooking and gardening.”

Amy is an asset to Home Instead Salford, and she has a great eye for detail, which is essential for this role.

Jemaine Horwood Job Title: Field Supervisor Joined: 2023
Jemaine Horwood

Jemaine joined Home Instead as a part-time Care Professional in February 2023 and quickly embraced the organisation's ethos and culture. She secured a full-time role in February 2024, conducting care consultations, service reviews, and more. She is a valued team member.
