Bluebird Care Lewisham & Southwark is a premium home care agency dedicated to preserving the independence and improving the quality of life of vulnerable adults – such as those with challenges around mobility, sensory impairment and dementia – by offering sustainable solutions to some of the problems often associated with frailty, living alone and isolation.

With meticulous attention to infection prevention and control measures, customers can rest assured their care assistants are aware of the risks and how they can be mitigated.

The agency provides a range of home care services, including daily visits, overnight support and live-in care, typically to assist people with personal care and hygiene, meal preparation, managing and administering medication, light housework, shopping and accompaniment on trips outside the home.

However the aim is to do more than simply deliver practical support that meets people’s basic needs: staff aim to go the extra mile so that the customers really get the most out of life – for instance, doing crosswords together, partnering for Scrabble or bridge, resurrecting old hobbies or pursuits, gardening and even assisting with technology, such as laptops, mobile devices and email.

All the carers who come are great. A particular member of staff is outstanding and is brilliant at recognising my dad's priorities. Walking with him in the park is particularly precious. Dad loves the coffee mornings!

I have found the carers I have had to be caring, helpful and nothing is too much trouble and they are willing to undertake any task. I have always been treated with dignity and my privacy respected. Their arrival has always been within the time conditions, other clients taken into consideration.

Bluebird Care has been visiting Mum for the past month. The staff have been really great and have established a positive relationship with her. This is amazing especially as Mum was adamant that she didn't want carers at all. I am going away for a couple of months and feel confident that I am leaving

My elderly mother has thrived under the care and support provided by Bluebird Care Lewisham & Southwark carers following discharge from hospital.
Every carer has been polite, amenable and caring, reporting back any concerns.
They have helped her to transgress from needing care to monitoring and prompting
as required as part of her rehabilitation post-surgery.
They have also provided warm companionship whilst she has been isolated and less able to get out, which is so important for her cognitively.
They certainly have all supported her holistically and there have never been any issues - as we experienced with another agency provided for my late father. Bluebird has restored my mother's confidence in herself and in the care profession.
Further, the initial then regular contact and support from their care supervisor, who is both knowledgeable, helpful and understanding, has been fantastic.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Bluebird Lewisham & Southwark, thank you!

Bluebird cares have always been very good. They are helpful and pleasant and get on well with the client. I have not had any issues with punctuality and they sometimes stay a little beyond the leaving time. I have no concerns when I leave the client in their care.

I found the carers to be very kind, helpful and friendly. They treated me with respect and at no point did I feel patronised. They came at the agreed time and stayed to the morning, without fail. From the first contact with Bluebird Care to present date, we have been supported and our relative has been treated kindly and respectfully and so have we too.
It is good to know that should our relative need more help, Bluebird Care can be more involved but meanwhile, the first steps are going well.

Kate Mortimer

Job Title: Registered Care Manager Joined: 2010

Kate joined Bluebird Care in 2010. Her customer service skills and “can-do” attitude were quickly noticed and it was not long before she was promoted to Care Supervisor.


After nearly 3 years Kate left to take a position as Senior Carer at a luxury care home in Bexley, South East London, where she managed a team of carers and gained further, valuable insight into the care of vulnerable adults with complex care needs - as well as the management of people!


We’re delighted to have Kate back in the Bluebird Care family, in a new venture where her experience and attitude will be of real benefit.


After many years working for Bluebird Care Kate has now taken on the exciting new role of Registered Manager.


With her knowledge, experience, and a great team behind her, she looks forward to the new challenges ahead.


Kate says 'I have always loved and enjoyed my work in health care so becoming a Registered Manager is the next natural step for me. It is so lovely to be able to do a job I love and make a difference in people's lives.'
