Bluebird Care Lewisham & Southwark is a premium home care agency dedicated to preserving the independence and improving the quality of life of vulnerable adults – such as those with challenges around mobility, sensory impairment and dementia – by offering sustainable solutions to some of the problems often associated with frailty, living alone and isolation.

With meticulous attention to infection prevention and control measures, customers can rest assured their care assistants are aware of the risks and how they can be mitigated.

The agency provides a range of home care services, including daily visits, overnight support and live-in care, typically to assist people with personal care and hygiene, meal preparation, managing and administering medication, light housework, shopping and accompaniment on trips outside the home.

However the aim is to do more than simply deliver practical support that meets people’s basic needs: staff aim to go the extra mile so that the customers really get the most out of life – for instance, doing crosswords together, partnering for Scrabble or bridge, resurrecting old hobbies or pursuits, gardening and even assisting with technology, such as laptops, mobile devices and email.

Bluebird Care began in February 2022, replacing carers allocated by the council. Punctuality is excellent and all Dad's regular carers provide a very good level of care. In recent months I have finally been able to enjoy a few short breaks away with my partner. All has been well during these breaks
and the openpass App is extremely useful in keeping up to date.

Bluebird Care is an extremely fine company. We have a weekly service of cleaning our flat and generally giving us company - like friends do. Because Bluebird are so flexible they can provide a replacement if necessary and payment through the bank takes away having to deal with cash. We are very pleased
with them. Recently I had a cataract operation and was able to get very helpful support. So - we recommend them and are sure anyone else would as well.

We have had Bluebird carers for another 18 months caring for our mum. In that time, have found all the staff to be very caring, professional and flexible. Do like it that they keep to times that are agreed and review the care plan regularly to me Mum's needs. Certainly do not want to change to another
agency. Would definitely recommend to others. A big thank you to all staff (office and carers). It's a difficult time for us all, and they all help.

I have recently joined Bluebird Care due to a fall and a fractured leg. I found the team of care workers one and all absolutely involved in the care of their clients. The office team are extremely supportive to both me and the carers.

I have nothing but praise for Bluebird Care. Everyone who came to look after my husband was skilled, patient, kind and had a good sense of humour. They provided end of life care which was not always easy. The administration was responsive and flexible. I could not have asked for more.

When my uncle passed away this year, my aunt with several health conditions and dementia was naturally devastated and lost. Her husband and her carer was gone. They had no children and I am they're only next of kin living in California. Bluebird Care came to the rescue and has enabled my aunt to stay
in her own home for as long as possible. They provide me with online daily care notes which are invaluable to me and truly are my eyes and ears. My aunt is now in hospital and will be transferred to a nursing home care as she has suffered a stroke and her home is unsafe. I have continued BB Care while she is in hospital and my intention is to continue with regular visits by Bluebird to the nursing home so I can monitor my aunt’s care and she will have a familiar face coming to visit her regularly.
I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff I dealt with. They are super responsive, professional and above all compassionate. Well done BlueBird Care - you are doing a fantastic job.

Kate Mortimer

Job Title: Registered Care Manager Joined: 2010

Kate joined Bluebird Care in 2010. Her customer service skills and “can-do” attitude were quickly noticed and it was not long before she was promoted to Care Supervisor.


After nearly 3 years Kate left to take a position as Senior Carer at a luxury care home in Bexley, South East London, where she managed a team of carers and gained further, valuable insight into the care of vulnerable adults with complex care needs - as well as the management of people!


We’re delighted to have Kate back in the Bluebird Care family, in a new venture where her experience and attitude will be of real benefit.


After many years working for Bluebird Care Kate has now taken on the exciting new role of Registered Manager.


With her knowledge, experience, and a great team behind her, she looks forward to the new challenges ahead.


Kate says 'I have always loved and enjoyed my work in health care so becoming a Registered Manager is the next natural step for me. It is so lovely to be able to do a job I love and make a difference in people's lives.'
