I cannot thank the care team enough, they were exceptional in their care of my mum who was receiving palliative care. They treat her with dignity respect and kindness at every visit. My dad has Alzheimer’s and they treated him with absolute respect and taking time to chat to him. I will never forget
what this team did for my mum's last few days they were outstanding. They helped me become her daughter again for which I am so grateful. This package of care was 4 visits a day x2 carers with a set team, they were always on time and dressed in full uniform. There was an initial teething problem with the night sit service however the manager called - she was upfront and honest to say at that time she was unable to accommodate our requirements, which as a family helped us trust this company. They also supported my family through this very sad time. I will need care for my dad in the near future and will certainly make this company my first call.

Alcedo carers started to care for our mother on discharge from hospital, our mother had been in hospital on lockdown for 6 weeks and we wanted her home on the palliative care pathway. Alcedo come four times a day and overnight to care for our mother. We as a family are so happy and appreciative of the
wonderful care that is provided. My mother is always treated with kindness, respect and dignity by professional, friendly staff. Thank you - you are all outstanding.

We were given the contact details of this care company when we were struggling to find a company that covered Elswick & Great Ecclestone area. We needed care for my mother-in-law who has Alzheimer's and needed daily help.
They quickly arranged a meeting with the client and my husband to assess what
our requirements were.
They were professional and caring and very down to earth.
They were clear and upfront with charges and gave us contact details and a contract to read through. They were able to start almost immediately and all the staff who attended my mother-in-law were pleasant, smart and in uniform and interacted with her very well even though she can be very difficult to deal with.
I can highly recommend them.

Me and my family cannot praise the care and dedication and compassion all your carers gave my husband during his recent battle with cancer and end of life care, more highly. Their care for the whole family, not only my husband, was exemplary. We cannot find words to explain how grateful we were to have
found this company and in particular the people we met. (If there were more people like your staff in the world it would be a much better place)

The service I have received this week has been amazing, I couldn't ask for a better care agency. I was greeted by the manager who was lovely and bubbly, she listened attentively to my needs and introduced me to the carer I would be having. Because I suffer chronic anxiety I was given the same carer
all week. My carer was absolutely brilliant I was treated with dignity and respect at all times, we had fun and laughed non stop. I was supported to go to my best friend's wedding and we had a fantastic day. My carer was one of the best I've ever had and the best care company I've used. I'm very happy and will be using them again in my next stay in October. Thank you for everything and would definitely recommend Kate plus.

I was only involved with Kare Plus for one week but during that time I have nothing but praise for everyone I and my father came into contact with. I was spoken to respectfully and involved in decisions regarding my father's care. Everyone who came to care for my father treated him with kindness and
compassion. He was treated with dignity and respect and I cannot thank everyone enough for what they did during this difficult time.

I cannot fault the care my 92-year-old dad has received from Kare Plus since it started on the 15/10/18. He looks forward to the 4 visits he gets a day and each person visiting has been kind, thoughtful, respectful and cannot do enough for my dad. I can get the timesheets sent to me by email which
is good and any time I need to drop them an email its picked up and answered in a very short space of time. Kare Plus is a brilliant service and I have recommended them already to friends who have elderly relatives.

Kare Plus have the most professional and caring staff you could ever wish for. In the four weeks Mum had left at home, the carers treated her with such love and dignity. This made the upsetting and worrying time for the family much easier. Kare Plus staff really cared and became her friends. They treated
Mum very gently and talked to her and not at her.
Mum had so many laughs with the carers which was so nice to hear.
I would like to thank you all so very, very much for making a painful time for us bearable.

Andrea Woodruff

I'm Andrea, the Area Manager for Alcedo in Lancaster and Blackpool, with over 10 years of experience in all aspects of care. I started with Alcedo in December 2022 as a Coordinator for the agency side of the business, progressed to Care Manager in Blackpool, and now proudly oversee both areas in my current role.


Originally from Gibraltar, I began my career in care working in a children’s home, supporting families through a 12-week programme designed to help parents reunite with their children. After moving to the UK in 2015, I spent some time in insurance management before returning to care following maternity leave, and I haven’t looked back since.


I’ve truly found my niche in this sector. I love what I do and feel privileged to work with such a committed and compassionate team. Our clients and staff are at the heart of everything we do, and I’m passionate about maintaining the high standards Alcedo is known for.


When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me enjoying days out with my husband and our three children, or relaxing with a good Netflix series.

I began to think about my future development and looked into becoming an ambassador for my area but then I got an opportunity to join the fantastic office team and become a care coordinator so that I can continue to help and assist with clients' care packages and needs from behind the scenes.
