Home Instead South Lakes provides personalised, non-medical care to help clients maintain their independence and quality of life.

Care Professionals receive award-winning training and are carefully selected and matched to clients. With minimum one hour visits, they have time to deliver care that is tailored to the needs of each individual and to build relationships that really enhance the lives of the older people they care for.

Services include companionship, help with light housekeeping, medication reminders, meal preparation, shopping, personal care and so much more. They are able to offer care from just a few hours a week up to full live in care support dependent on the needs of the client.

They cover all of the South Lakes area which includes Kendal, Grange-over-sands, Arnside, Carnforth, Windermere, Ulverston, Kirkby Lonsdale and all surrounding villages.

If you want an outstanding team of caregivers to look after your loved one, then look no further than Home Instead. They looked after my relative for over 2-years and went above and beyond in every respect of her care. I often had daily contact with the team for various reasons and was always kept fully
informed of the current situation. Emergencies we dealt with swiftly and competently and at no point did I ever feel that she was not receiving the very best of care. Living away from our relative that was extremely important to us. We feel very privileged to have had such a dedicated and loving team taking care of her and also providing support to us when needed. We had regular reviews to assess the level of care was being given was correct, and the team went above and beyond to help keep her stimulated and happy. Finally, the team went above and beyond to transition our relative into full-time care at very short notice and continued to provide support to her new carers and us too.

We cannot thank the team at Home Instead enough for the compassionate care that my lovely Nan has received over the last few years, but especially since coming out of hospital recently and being housebound. The amount of care that Nan now requires could feel quite intrusive, but it doesn't feel anything
like that; the carers are kind, friendly and it feels like they are now just extra members of our family. They are punctual, stay longer than the allotted time (if required) and go above and beyond.

From the initial enquiry, the service offered by Home Instead has been amazing. Their friendly, professional, caring and engaging approach to their clients, families and the service they provide is fantastic. We have felt our views matter and that they are truly there to help and support us rather than

Home Instead has provided an excellent service, from the initial meeting to on-going care. The company ensured the needs/preferences of my mother-in-law were matched with the most appropriate Caregivers. They introduced each Caregiver so my mother-in-law was never faced with somebody turning up that
she hadn’t been introduced to - an excellent safety measure. The Caregivers have been excellent and nothing is too much trouble. They are friendly, professional, always punctual and treat her with dignity. At the end of the first month, the Care Manager came out to undertake a review of the services to check if we had any issues or would like any changes and improvements. Our feedback was that we were more than happy with the current service.


The experience of Home Instead from the Manager, Office staff and Caregivers is one of a well run, organised and joined up service. My mother-in-law is very content with her care and looks forward to her daily visits.

Home Instead looked after my dad for the last 5 months. He has Alzheimer's and I live 2 hours away, but I was soon reassured he was being very well looked after. A small team of wonderful carers gained his trust and built up fantastic relationships in a very short time. Communication is very important
to me and this was also excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the office staff or carers (even trips to A&E when needed!), and great communication and record keeping among the staff meant that everyone knew what was needed. The service is not cheap, but this does mean the staff are well trained and motivated, can go those extra miles, and can take their time and not rush, and this is value for money when you need to have total confidence that your loved one is safe and happy. After an illness dad finally needed 24-hour care and had to move, but I am so grateful for the happy times he had at home with his CAREgivers and the peace of mind they gave me. Thanks so much to the team!

The carer arrived promptly all ready for the walk. After signing in we set off to places which were relatively level. She walked at the right pace and she was very attentive to any hazards, potholes and sticks lying on the paths. We had interesting conversations, particularly about the trees in parklands.
The weather was fine most days and the walks improved my walking. She was an interested companion.

When the time comes that a person needs help with personal care, to enable them to continue living in their own much-loved home, it’s a big ‘ask’ of anyone to invite, in effect, complete strangers into their home to deliver that care.
My Father-in-Law is such a person and we were fortunate enough to
be able to employ the services of Home Instead Senior Care. Having a core group of the same CAREGivers – who are well-matched to his personality – meant that a bond quickly developed as he got to know them. The caregivers treat him with dignity and respect and show a genuine interest in him as a person. The care is tailored to meet his specific needs and, after discussion with the supportive management team, can be immediately adapted to meet any changing health needs.
My Father-in-law says, “The caregivers are very well trained and maintain the company’s high standards at all times. I am more than satisfied with the care I am given and look forward to their daily visits.”

The owner and her team have been nothing short of a miracle. Immediately responsive, ultra-caring, highly professional and incredibly supportive.
They have slotted in where no-one else could, other than a close family member and have delivered in spades, and I'm pleased to say still do.

I oversee the whole operation of running Home Instead South Lakes, Home Instead Lytham, Fylde & Wyre and Home Instead Preston & South Ribble, including the Care Professionals, Office Support Team, the Senior Leadership Team and a network of external contacts who help support our business and clients. I have been assessed by the CQC as competent to hold Registered Manager status for the business, which I share with Judy Clay – Director who is also a Nominated Individual with the CQC. I completed Level 5 Management and Leadership in Adult Social Care in 2022 which is the qualification needed to hold Registered Manager status in England.


I am fully responsible for overseeing a Caring, Responsive, Effective, Well-led and Safe Domiciliary care business, ably supported by the Senior Leadership Team and Office Support Team.


I also oversee the Safeguarding Team which ensures all Care Professionals are kept up to date and trained on all Safeguarding protocols. I am the Privacy Champion for all data protection matters in the business.


I love my role and working with the whole Team to ensure our Care Professionals can all deliver exceptional care to all our clients in the South Lakes community. I am so proud that we have rated ‘OUTSTANDING’ with the CQC since we began and our 10 rating on homecare.co.uk.

I’m always learning and I’m passionate about continually striving to improve our services. I understand the importance of listening to our Care Professionals and I’m a ’ Wellbeing Champion’. I understand the importance of building relationships with them and our partners in our community to achieve our vision of helping people in our community to live well their way in their own homes for as long as possible.


I ensure all our Care Professionals have the best experience with us from the day they start and that it continues throughout their time with us. I oversee the recruitment process, ensuring we maintain the Home Instead ethos, of only hiring those that we would want to look after our own loved ones. I also oversee our work in our community, with our ‘Community Angels’ who are also our Care Professionals, including our ‘Be a Santa' and Easter Egg campaigns, Companionship Cafes and visiting local support and activity groups.


I am also responsible for our marketing and social events for our Care Professionals to ensure they are as happy as can be, not just delivering care but outside of work too.


The office support is a very close team, and I LOVE coming to work every day and striving to ensure all our Care Professionals have the best time with us and seeing them all thrive delivering OUTSTANDING care to all our wonderful clients in the South Lakes community.

I joined Home Instead South Lakes in March 2018 as a Care Professional and I'm now the Care Standards Manager and Registered Manager. I have worked in the care sector in Cumbria since leaving university many years ago!


I work with the Support Team to ensure that we are complying with franchise standards, brand guidelines, regulations, and legislation. This includes checking that all our records are up to date with the relevant paperwork for clients and Care Professionals and doing regular audits to identify any trends and support the team to take actions to improve our processes and systems to make sure we are providing the highest quality care.


When we receive new enquiries for our care services I will talk to the client or their family and discuss how we can best support them. It’s wonderful to know you’re part of finding a solution to enable someone to live a fulfilled life at home. I LOVE our clients, Care Professionals and support team. It really is the best job!

In my new role as Care Operations Manager, I am responsible for supporting our Care Professionals to ensure they thrive in their roles. This includes overseeing their support visits, conducting one-to-one meetings, and appraisals, and providing guidance to help them deliver the exceptional care Home Instead is known for. I also support new Care Professionals as they transition into their roles, ensuring they feel confident and fully equipped.


Previously, I focused on scheduling clients’ visits, ensuring both clients and Care Professionals had outstanding experiences. Home Instead’s commitment to one-hour minimum visits allows our Care Professionals to build meaningful bonds with clients, and I’ve always been passionate about planning schedules that prioritise a good work/life balance.


Through Home Instead, I achieved my Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, which boosted my confidence and enabled me to progress in my career. It’s been a privilege to help train new Care Professionals and ensure they have everything they need to succeed.

In my role as Group Business Development and Systems Manager, I am responsible for supporting all three offices across various aspects of business operations. This includes ensuring our systems work seamlessly together, managing data and reporting, driving further business development, and fostering collaboration between the offices to maintain alignment and efficiency.


Previously, my role focused on onboarding new clients, guiding them from their initial enquiry to their very first visits. I worked closely with external agencies to address client requirements, family needs, and funding, ensuring every client’s experience was OUTSTANDING from the very start. I also ensured our clients were invoiced correctly, queries were resolved promptly, and our Care Professionals were paid accurately.


I continue to maintain and optimise our IT systems and software, ensuring we operate as efficiently as possible. Together with the rest of the office support team, I strive to ensure our Care Professionals and clients always have an exceptional experience at Home Instead.

My goal is to ensure our Care Professionals always feel supported, appreciated, and empowered to deliver OUTSTANDING care. This ensures our clients consistently receive the level of care we would want for our own loved ones—and nothing less.


I started as a Care Professional at Home Instead a few years ago, so I truly understand the importance of helping and guiding everyone on their journey with us, whether they’re new to the team or have been with us for years. I love seeing our Care Professionals grow and our clients live their best lives in the comfort of their own homes.

I started out as a Care Professional, a role I truly love, and I still enjoy going out to see my regular clients. I have now moved into the office as an Engagement Coordinator, where I’m focused on growing our network and connections in the South Lakes. A key part of my role involves meeting and getting to know key people in our community, building strong relationships with them, and working together to make a positive impact.


I also take pride in organising community events that bring people together and support local initiatives. One of my favourite projects is running our gift-giving schemes, such as Be an Easter Bunny and Be a Santa, which help spread joy to those in need. Giving back to the community is something I’m incredibly passionate about, and I love being part of initiatives that brighten people’s lives.


Being able to combine my love for care with engaging and supporting our community makes my role so rewarding. I’m excited to continue connecting with others and making a difference across the South Lakes.
