Without exception the Candlelight Care carers who have looked after my husband on two occassions have been wonderful: advising on equipment and organising its provision, going above and beyond their remit to obtain suitable medications and always being positive, encouraging and above all good humoured. Well done Candlelight!

My wife is now a resident at a local care home, she has dementia. Candlelight provide a carer at the home twice a week for 2 hours each visit. This allows me to carry out urgent tasks and medical appointments on those 2 days, whilst providing support and companionship to my wife. The carer is wonderful and my wife considers her a friend, allowing even the most intimate support. I am not sure that I would be able to cope without this marvellous support.

We enjoy great service from Candlelight Care. My 94 year old mum has a morning visit which gets her up, showered and ready for the day. Every carer has been kind, considerate and professional. We have one regular carer, who is wonderful. She chats to mum and makes her feel special. We are delighted with her service and support.

Please to have the help I needed. I am enjoying the help to stir me to try and keep order. I now can invite people in to see me. It is just enough help to keep me doing more myself so my life has improved. I would definitely go downhill without this encouragement.

I have nothing but praise for this service and all the people involved in it. The carers who visited me were kind and thoughtful. I made amazing progress over a two-week period after I left hospital and enjoyed their company. When I left hospital I could hardly get up from a sitting position. By the end, I could get up, safely walk and stand without aid and felt much more confident in looking after myself. Thank all of you for your support and help.

The carers who visit my mother are excellent in every way, from giving her support to walk on, making her laugh and feel at ease. The office staff are very helpful and efficient in responding to questions on the carers visit times. I would definitely recommend this company as they are efficient and friendly.

The carer who comes to support my mother is excellent in every way. She is kind, caring and sensitive. She is always very professional. She is happy to turn her hand to jobs we need help with ie brushing up leaves. From my point of view, I am most grateful for the support she gives me and the help she is to my mother.

Candlelight has been providing my care for a couple of years without many problems, but the carer who called this morning was very rude.
We got off to a bad start when she said straight-faced that I should be a woman with a name like mine. Then she started shouting at me for no good reason, before leaving without doing anything.

I had Candlelight Care for 5 weeks after being discharged from hospital. The first phone call from the discharge assessor was excellent. She was very helpful, polite and friendly. I had different carers, throughout the 5 weeks. Every one of them is friendly and professional. I can’t thank them all enough. Thanks to everyone at the Glastonbury branch.

Had a carer for less than a week and not always the same one. Hardly time to form an opinion.

Reply from Deb Puxty, Quality Assurance/Operations Manager & Corporate Lead for HR at Candlelight Care

The service you received was from our D2A Reablement team and therefore, once your goals had been met and you were back being independent, the service finished. Hence the shortness of time. The reablement team is a small select team and we cannot provide continuity of care, as it is dependent on how many patients are on the service in any one day.

Sarah Perry

Sarah started her journey with Candlelight back in 2003. She began as a domiciliary carer and then transferred into the Live in department providing a service of 24-hour care and support.

This hands-on care experience set Sarah in good stead to progress into an office-based Care Coordinator role.

In 2021, Sarah was awarded her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and was successful in becoming Candlelight’s Discharge to Assess manager. This role brought with it a focus on partnership working and a patient-focused, person-centred approach to regaining independence.

In February 2022, Sarah gained her CQC Registration, enabling the D2A service at Candlelight to have its own dedicated Registered Manager.

Sarah has had many opportunities to progress at Candlelight, and her most recent achievement is being appointed as the new Business and Development Manager.
