Overall Experience
Home Instead in Ipswich helped my father to look after my mother in her final years and were the obvious choice now that he in turn needs more assistance than his family can provide, in order to stay in his own home as he wishes. We knew that we would have none of the concerns that first-time users of their services might have. For example:
How will my parent be with strangers? They won’t be strangers for long - he looks forward to and really enjoys carers’ visits and their cheerful positivity.
What exactly will they do? They are really flexible and provide whatever support is requested or most appropriate on the day.
Do they really care or are they just doing their jobs? They certainly do care. They are lovely people who do this job because they want to do it, although there are many easier alternatives.
Are they value for money? Yes - definitely. They are hard-working, multi-skilled and provide good companionship, at a reasonable rate.

(Son of) A happy client.

Home Instead provided fantastic care of my mother over a period of about 5 years, until mum, unfortunately, had to move into a home.
I relied totally on them in caring for mum at her home including providing all her food, cleaning her house and taking her to appointments. They were compassionate, dedicated, completely reliable and always went the extra mile.
Mum had a wonderful time with them, singing songs, going out and about, playing games, having a laugh, etc. It was lovely to see her grow under their care.
I'm looking to employ them again to visit mum in her care home and give her some one-to-one care.

I would thoroughly recommend the Home Instead service from their wonderful carers to the responsive, dedicated and friendly office staff, in fact, I have already recommended them several times!

Reply from Sophie Martin, Marketing at Home Instead (Ipswich, Woodbridge & Felixstowe)

Thank you so much Anne for your wonderful review. We will pass this on to the team here in Ipswich. We hope Mum is still singing and enjoying her card games. We really appreciate the recommendation and look forward to reconnecting with her soon.

The carers have cared for my parents for the last 18 months and have proven very reliable and consistent with their support. In addition, they have been very flexible with day to day tasks and on occasions dealt with some difficult circumstances. They formed excellent trusting relationships with my parents.

Home Instead has proven itself to be professional, compassionate and caring. I cannot fault the care and understanding from both the Care Co-Ordinators and daily carers given to an old friend. They are always available to discuss any concerns, arrange appointments and make sure in-home care has been completed by going that extra mile to ensure an old friend is comfortable, safe and, moreover, happy to give me peace of mind.

A big thank you to all the staff.

Mum is physically disabled, Dad has mild Alzheimer's. For the past year, Home Instead have provided assistance to allow my parents to live in their own home with dignity and comfort. The caregivers were professional, reliable and lovely to them. They became a welcome part of my parents' daily routine, bringing friendship alongside the practical care. I particularly commend their efforts during the pandemic, they never once let them down; our family's gratitude to all their care team.

Home Instead (Ipswich, Woodbridge & Felixstowe) have provided Dad with wonderful care and support. He looks forward to visits and the warm companionship caregivers provide, with many adding a personal touch. The support provided has allowed Dad to maintain his independence and help regain his self-confidence. Communication with the office team has been excellent. They are easy to contact, inform me of any material developments and help to organise chaperones to and from appointments, which helps me greatly. The app also allows me to see the interactions from each visit. I am very happy with the care provided.

How would we have managed without the help of Home Instead? Since their carers started visiting us in 2016, they have provided us with the care and support we so desperately need. They help with household chores such as ironing, cleaning, cooking but above all they are companions for my husband. They are very professional, arriving on time with a smile on their faces. The management team is first class with the telephone being answered promptly and requests for a change in our schedule being dealt with.

In 2018 we brought Home Instead in to assist Mum as her health was failing, and she was living on her own. Living on the continent, we could not visit at a "drop of a hat". At first, Mum was very apprehensive, being so independent all her life. Within a few visits, she enjoyed the carers coming in, and their visits became very much part of her daily routine. Over the years, the care time was revised to provide the service needed. During the past 3-years, Home Instead (carers and office staff) have been wonderful, caring for Mum, organizing and guiding. They were very reliable. Access to the app helped us to keep in touch too. Looking back, it was the right decision to take on their services, enabling Mum to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible. And for us, we were always certain she was being looked after. Our sincere thanks to Home Instead.

Home Instead have provided support for my mother for many years. Her ‘girls’ as she called them, enabled her to stay in her own home until she was 101. They were unfailingly kind and caring, she always looked forward to seeing them. Not only did they support my mother, when things were difficult, but they also supported us, the family. We owe a great debt to all those caregivers.

Home Instead have been fantastic in their care for Dad. He has Alzheimer's and the caregivers are very caring and understanding of his needs. They competently help with the personal care and the practical house/meal duties. Plus they take time to have a chat, which is really important for a social, chatty man like Dad. They feedback worries and the app is great to be able to see what is happening on each visit. When we have needed extra care the office have been quick to make this happen for us. Thank you!

We had two new carers starting in July 2020, both have settled in well in their interaction with my wife. They mainly read to my wife and provide tea or coffee when appropriate. I know comparisons are odious, but they do not appear to provide the stimulation that my wife requires. Previous carers have assisted my wife in simple crafts or helping in cooking and playing simple card games. I have suggested these things, but they do not seem to use their initiative in these ways.

My dad was a fiercely independent and often stubborn and difficult man. He employed Home Instead Senior Care for an hour a day in November 2019. His physical abilities and mobility deteriorated quite rapidly in 2020. Home Instead Senior Care organised equipment and liaised with the GP and health services enabling Dad to stay at home. The staff were caring, kind, knowledgeable and professional. His last months were dignified and happy thanks to Home Instead Senior Care, and I would recommend to anyone who wants to live at home in old age.

Home Instead has excellent leadership, coordination and carers. At all levels, they are proactive and responsive to Mum's changing needs. Caregivers are all sensitive, caring, fun and observant. If anything changes, we are always contacted by the team leader. Mum is very comfortable and trusting of them, even though she is very vulnerable. 'Outstanding' is totally applicable! The care app keeps us in touch daily if necessary, so we can measure things too.
