I am very pleased with the work done in my garden as I m unable to do it myself. It is nice to look out of the windows. I see the garden looking neat and tidy.
The companion for my mother has been well matched and she is very considerate to Mum's needs. It is good that she sees the same person each visit (twice a week) as they have built up a lovely friendship. The only reason why I did not state "extremely likely" to recommend is because of the expense.
This is the first time I have used a "helper" and so far I found the experience very acceptable. It's the little things that I like such as going upstairs to bring down a small item I need or giving me a drink at mealtimes.
There is little to say except that we are more than satisfied with the service we receive. our helper is most kind and understanding of my wife, who has vascular dementia. Nothing is too much trouble for her.
I had an appointment to return a monitor to the hospital in the next town entailing 2 bus rides and some walking, which is a problem for me. Seniors Helping Seniors found me a driver, a charming lady who took me door to door, there and back both ways and a chore became a very pleasant morning out.
Very understanding and approachable to deal with, and a lovely lady to help with mum, which has, in fact, had a positive effect as she is housebound. A great weight off my mind, enabling me as her only carer to have a few days away.
When your loved one requires additional support making the correct decision of who to choose can be difficult. We looked at a number of companies however Seniors Helping Seniors stood out from our first contact. We made the correct choice. My father has been brilliantly looked after in his own home by professionals who really care, it’s not just a job. I could not recommend them highly enough.
When, in March, my mother finally conceded that her advancing Alzheimer's had become too much to allow her to continue with any real independence, my hope was that we could give her one more summer at home in her beloved garden, in her beloved village. Whilst there have been many anxious moments along the way we have together managed to achieve that, and we absolutely could not have done it without you all.
We rely on this service to tend a relative with no immediate family living in the UK. They are our lifeline to our loved one and the care she receives. Brilliant model with seniors visiting seniors but also with determining the compatibility of carer to the client. The communication between carer and family is very professional but also very warm. We feel blessed to have been put in contact with such a network of committed, capable and caring people and we know that our relative’s quality of life is enhanced remarkably by the service. We cannot thank Seniors for helping Seniors enough for the peace of mind they have given us.
We were appointed Power of Attorney for our elderly neighbours. Seniors helping Seniors were employed for a short time on a few days a week at first. Sadly the husband passed away after 2 strokes in January and his wife has early stage Alzheimers so the daily hours were considerably increased to 6 /7 hours daily (4/2 per day). There was one main carer who attended for 66% of the time, supplemented by 3 other ladies. We cannot speak highly enough of any of the carers. They were all highly professional and friendly. The main carer not only spent time with our neighbour but also worked extremely hard cleaning, cooking , even shopping and on occasions taking our neighbour out. All carers showed great compassion but also had experience of dementia and were firm when necessary. It is an invaluable service.
We have used Seniors Helping Seniors for at least 2 years now for my parents. The care and service we have seen is excellent and my parents have benefited from the visits. They look forward to seeing the lady who supports them once a week.
Dad talks about his regular carer as a friend that visits; it's this level and continuity of care that has been key to being able to keep dad living in his own home as long as we have; this was his biggest wish.
The best recommendation I can give is to say that I have been using the services of Senior Helping Seniors for nearly 2 years and the review I wrote last May is still very valid. From the outset they have been professional, friendly, approachable and always willing to help. My father is 89, has dementia and needs to be checked on a daily basis. He has a regular carer which provides continuity and familiarity but should they be unable to attend, a substitute will always be provided to suit my father's needs. His condition can sometimes be hard work but the kindness and patience shown is second to none. They not only remind him to take his medication but encourage him to eat and drink and make sure that he is warm and comfortable. They also advise me immediately if there are any concerns or problems. The Seniors idea is great as it means they can chat to my father on more common ground. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone in a similar situation, its money well spent!
The Seniors Helping Seniors - Canterbury team have been central to my mother's care for about 4 years. My mother has dementia and the strong relationships she has built up with the Seniors Helping Seniors team are a foundation to her well being. At first, visits were for about 2 hours a day, later increasing as the dementia advanced. Seniors Helping Seniors have helped my mother and us, her family, through several crisis periods - they have huge experience with dementia, are very sensitive to needs and have always been happy to talk things through and work together to provide the best overall care package possible. They have been a comfort to us as well as my mother. I have also found them to be exceptionally responsive when sudden changes in care are needed - e.g. an extra visit at short notice. Thank you, Seniors Helping Seniors!
Senior Helping Seniors have been absolutely brilliant. Very professional caring people. We have used their services for almost a year. We have been extremely satisfied with the services they gave us in helping our elderly mother who has dementia. We highly recommend them.
My parents have been very satisfied with the support given by the Agency and their helper has been consistent, diligent, efficient and courteous.
Seniors Helping Seniors is an extremely professional service that caters to whatever the client needs. The team created for my mother has been exemplary and each member has provided great support in every aspect of her care needs. The ability to tailor a care package that suits the client cannot be underestimated. Every carer brings experience and empathy alongside a degree of professionalism that has made it so much easier dealing with a challenging situation.
I highly recommend Seniors Helping Seniors.
Good service with lovely carers with their own stories to tell. Sensitive help and support.
Initially unsure, my cousin (89) was quickly chatting and laughing with the SHS director at the assessment. He matched her well with a lady and a gentleman (at separate times) whom she has found easy to talk to and laugh with, plus she has enjoyed going out of the house, being driven to a country pub etc for lunch and relaxing company. Time and duration of the visits fit her stamina levels and she relaxes because all is arranged for her. The visits give my cousin a buzz, give her lovely experiences to think about when she is on her own, keep her used to meeting and chatting socially - thus avoiding isolation and loneliness - and she has some fun! We pay for the Seniors' time as well any travel costs but it is worth every penny. Flexible in what they offer and in changing arrangements, prompt to respond to queries by phone or email, SHS gear their services to the individual client's changing needs. I am very happy to see my cousin so happy and highly recommend Seniors Helping Seniors.
My Mother-in-law has been taken to visit many local places of interest to "get out of the house" which has been very enjoyable.
I am kept updated with activities and events via the team as I do not live locally. I would definitely recommend the service to anyone with elderly relatives.
