My 94-year-old housebound grandma has been with Home Instead (Salford) for a few years now. They are, by far, the best home care company that we have ever had. The owners are so friendly, caring and compassionate. This shows in how they recruit staff. I live far from my grandma, and the lockdown has
been difficult, but Home Instead staff have been super helpful and caring. From getting the shopping into Christmas Day Dinner on a plate as we could not be there; nothing is too much trouble. Their service goes beyond meeting basic needs, which have, undoubtedly, assisted my grandma's well-being enormously. I would wholeheartedly recommend Home Instead Salford to anyone looking to find care to support their elderly relative to live independently. Thank you to all the team at Home Instead (Salford).
Reply from Jo Shaughnessy, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Many thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We have enjoyed supporting your grandma over the past few years! We love her sense of humour and her stories. The small team of CAREGivers who support her really enjoy their visits and certainly look forward to them. Cooking Christmas dinner for her was a pleasure! Thank you once again.

We have used the service for a short period only but we are extremely satisfied with the service to date.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive review. It is early days and these early days are crucial for client, family and CAREGivers to get to know each other and learn routines. This is a crucial time to 'tweek' the care plan, improve, add more detail. We pride ourselves on being very responsive to our Client's needs. Thank you once again.

The Directors found the perfect match in my son's caregiver. She has a professional approach, is eager to learn about him and now tends to his every need. My son loves the time he shares with her and she finds interesting things to do with him. If I have contacted the office all the staff are helpful
and polite and there is a friendly atmosphere.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Thank you so much for sending such a lovely review. Your son is a joy to support especially when he has his creative hat on! Glue, glitter, paint, lots of enthusiasm and mutual respect goes a long way! We are delighted that the match of personalities has been such a great success and that our CAREGiver is caring and supporting you all in such a positive spirit. Thank you for putting your trust in our team!

The carers have consistently shown my Mother careful attention. They have given her companionship and have been willing to help her in many ways. Office staff have always been available for a chat and have readily altered the contact time with my Mother as her needs have grown. Staff have quickly notified
us when they have felt that we needed to be consulted about my Mothers care. The carers now make sure that she has taken her medication and they usually prepare meals for her. The carers are always responsible and always check that my Mother is safe, i.e. that the doors are locked and that she has her pendant on her when they leave her.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Thank you for writing such a fantastic review. Our CAREGivers enjoy supporting your Mother and have shared some lovely stories with the office team. Our CAREGiver was very touched when your Mother gave her a ballet book to share with her granddaughter who enjoys ballet, baking cakes with another CAREGiver and enjoying a picnic in the garden during the Summer last year. Thank you so much once again for your time and putting your trust in our team.

I find all the staff caring, able and willing to undertake any task I set for them. They are, without exception, pleasant and supportive, trustworthy and prompt to arrive when I am warned of some unavoidable delay. They are good-humoured and patient, contributing to the good quality of my otherwise
rather quiet life. My daughter is in Canada, gains reassurance that I have good support.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Hi - thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We always like the words 'without exception' as we take a great deal of time finding our CAREGivers - they really have to be 'special' to join our team and they have to believe in top quality care. We hear of the stories of the birds in your garden and the amount of bird seed required to keep them happy! Thank you once again and look forward to seeing you soon!

The involvement of Home Instead started with a once weekly shopping visit, over the years this was increased to a daily contact and then a high level of care prior to the client going into residential care.
From the beginning, the standard of care and organisation has been exemplary. All the caregivers
have been kind, caring and very professional. The management/admin of Home Instead are always very efficient, approachable and helpful. A five-star service!
Reply from Jo Shaughnessy, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Thank you so much for your kind words your mother-in-law was a much-loved member of our Home Instead family, and we're so glad to know that she's settling in fine. I'll make sure to pass your message on to the team who often want to know how she's doing and often remark how much they miss seeing her. You are so right - we have a wonderful team who are just amazing in so many ways.
Thank you to you and the family for putting your trust in us to take care of someone so precious - it was a privilege and an honour to do so.
Best wishes, Jo Shaughnessy & The Home Instead Team

The care your carers provide went above and beyond it just being a "job". They not only gave care to my Mother but gave peace of mind to me and my wife, knowing that Mum was being lovingly cared for. I would like to give our thanks and love to two caregivers especially who went above and beyond "care".
The care coordinator always treated any concern we had with good grace and professionalism and is a credit to her profession. Thanks again to anyone at Home Instead who had dealings with our family.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Wow - thank you. We will pass on your amazing comments to the people concerned. The feeling has been completely mutual - your mother was a joy to support and she is missed by her small team. We hope that she has settled into her new routine. We really thank all your family for showing our Caregivers the respect they deserve. Delivering care is a true calling and we have professional Caregivers who go 'above and beyond' every single day. We are determined to show that 'care'' is a true profession requiring so many different skills. Thank you again - we miss you all.

We were absolutely delighted with the care my Mother-in-law received from Home Instead. All the carers were delightful and we felt reassured that she was getting the best care available to help her stay in her own home. We always felt able to adjust her level of care as her needs increased and the office
staff went out of their way to accommodate her needs.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Thank you for such an outstanding review. When I found Home Instead - from the first phone call - I knew that I had found a company to trust. The worry of Mum living so far away from me was really difficult. Now I have peace of mind as my mum's small team of regular caregivers are amazing. The team in the office are always available to speak
to if I am worried or concerned. Mum is much happier and really looks forward to visits! Thank you to all at Home Instead.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Thank you so much for writing such an excellent review. All our Caregivers are exceptional and really enjoy spending time with their Clients - your Mum is no exception. Once all the necessary 'tasks' are completed your Mum and her Caregivers enjoy tea/coffee and cake and really enjoy exchanging news and stories. A regular trip to the garden centre is very much enjoyed too together with outings to Marks and Spencer for a shop and coffee. Many thanks once again for putting your trust in us.

Very happy the way Home Instead set up the care for my mother. From the very first call, I know I was in good hands. The care manager was very helpful and thought of every little detail. I have experienced poor care and did not want to make the same mistake. I can now say after 8-months, it was the
best decision I could have made. Home Instead is amazing, Mum is happy in her own home, and I have peace of mind knowing I can trust the caregivers, which is priceless.

As a family we can't thank Home Instead and the CareGivers enough, treating mum with such dignity and respect as they would their own family. Right from the start, they worked with us to create an individual care package suitable for mum's complex needs and have continued to do so when things have changed
or we have raised anything with them. As mum can't communicate it was really important for us to have the same carers daily so they got to know her to enable them to provide the best possible care and to know when mum wasn’t feeling “quite right”. They also allocate the same time every day so we aren't worrying that they are going to be late or not turn up. The CareGivers are just amazing and it’s obvious they really do care which is a real comfort to us. We can also see this has been a huge benefit to mum who is much brighter and more alert and as a family, this has given us peace of mind.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Thank you so much for sending such a fantastic review. We are delighted that you and your family are happy with our outstanding caregivers and that it is having such a positive impact on your mum. To say that we are giving you and your family peace of mind is a massive compliment. We always say that it is not just the Client that we support - very often it is the family just as much and sometimes more. The time you have taken to complete this review is very much appreciated - thank you.

My uncle’s wish, as he grows older and his needs increase, is to remain in his own home. Home Instead Senior Care Have been making this possible for the last couple of years now. After having spent a period of time in hospital/rehabilitation at the start of this year he was never so glad as to get home
again to the surroundings and carers that he knew and felt comfortable with.
For me, as the person who is trusted with helping him make decisions about his care, the whole process was made so simple as Home Instead had kept in touch and I had been able to keep his regular visit times reserved so it was a very smooth process to re-instate his care package as soon as we were ready.
I cannot visit him daily due to distance but, thanks to Home Instead, I have the ability to access his daily activity log which his carers document after every visit.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Home Instead for anyone who wishes to remain independent. They can support in so many ways. Fantastic!
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Hello Helen, thank you so much for taking the time to review our services. Your Uncle is a joy to support - he keeps everyone on their toes and smiling. We appreciate how difficult it is for family members to support their loved ones especially when there is a distance involved. We like to think of ourselves as 'unofficial' family members and the 'eyes and ears' for family members - especially families at a distance. We are so incredibly lucky with our team of CAREGivers and office team. Outstanding through and through - even during the recent pandemic our team have continued to work diligently and with broad smiles. Thank you for putting your trust in us Helen.

The Home Instead Salford staff have visited Mum every day since we engaged their services in January of this year. The staff are kind, professional, attentive to Mum’s needs and importantly, throughout the pandemic, have adhered to safety protocols. I know Mum enjoys her daily visit and it is reassuring
for me to know that she is being taken care of when I am unable to be with her. The management are always available and responsive to my queries or requests. I could not be more satisfied with the service.
Reply from Susan Robinson, Director at Home Instead (Salford)Hello Karen - thank you so much for your outstanding review! We are very lucky to have such an amazing team of people - both working in the community and within the office. We are very proud of our team who have continued to work throughout the pandemic with enthusiasm and gusto! Obtaining the correct PPE has been a challenge but we have succeeded - so far - so good. Your Mum has missed her regular visit from her mobile hairdresser during the past few months due to COVID and so one of our lovely CAREGivers came to the rescue! A hair wash and roller session was the order of the day. A little pampering works magic - and the smiles on the photos prove it too! Thank you for putting your trust in us - your Mum is a pleasure to support and have fun with.

When we first approached Home Instead they outlined how they operate and how they would put together a tailor-made care package for Dad. Every step of the way they did what they said they would do in a professional friendly way. They got to my Dad and with that knowledge they put together a team of
caregivers who proved to be amazing in every aspect. Home Instead plans their Caregivers' schedules so they are always on time and do exactly what has been agreed.
When Dad had a fall in the night the next morning the Caregiver stayed with him, made the necessary phone calls including arranging cover for her next client while she looked after him until the ambulance arrived.
We have complete confidence in the care they deliver - 'they do what it says on the can!' If you are going to have care in the home you have to have Home Instead.

My mum is 90 this year and is a staunchly independent woman. She is intelligent and discerning and struggles to ask for help. Home Instead has provided that help, so that mum doesn’t overburden her friends.
I live in Canada and when mum had a recent hospital admission for a pacemaker they made sure
that mums care was increased to help her in the recovery phase after her hospital admission, they also visited her in hospital and communicated with me as to how she was progressing. It was so comforting to me to know that mum’s needs were being met in a proactive and dynamic way. Service was increased and then as she recovered her service was reduced.
The carers are carefully matched so that there is a good ‘fit ‘ they are well trained, conscientious and enjoy their work bringing positive energy and vitality, which is so lovely. I would be happy to recommend Home Instead.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.807 for Home Instead (Salford) is calculated as follows: ( (98 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 114 Ratings = 4.807
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Home Instead (Salford) is based on 18 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4.95
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Director - Co Founder Joined: 2016

My name is Susan Robinson, and I am the owner of Home Instead Salford and Worsley. I have lived and worked in Salford all my life, and I am immensely proud to be part of this vibrant and ever-changing city.

Although I have owned and managed two exciting businesses in the past, more recently I have volunteered and worked in several primary schools in Salford. A large proportion of my time involved developing relationships between the school, families and the wider community. My passion for community development grew very quickly, and I had no intention of changing my career path.

However, I needed some support from my mum when we were going on holiday in August 2015. It was at this time that I was introduced to Home Instead Senior Care. I was amazed at the culture and ethos of the company. Love, care and compassion are at the heart of the Home Instead philosophy. When I realised that there was an opportunity in Salford to support individuals in their own homes, where they are most happy and comfortable, I grabbed it with both hands.
