Westmorland Homecare is a unique Doctor led community home care service. They are the only service in the area to be run by a doctor team and are proud to be making a positive difference to people's lives every day. They want to provide the best care it is possible to provide and want all their clients to be happy with their support.

Staff help people to stay happy, healthy and active at home by providing a comprehensive range of services. From a couple of hours per week for companionship and shopping to 24-hour personal care at home, they will build a tailor-made care package for each client.

Staff are really passionate about changing the way care is delivered and doing something really special. They are proud to have recruited a wonderful team of caring, compassionate people who do the job because they love helping people in their hearts.

They founded Westmorland Homecare on traditional values and are passionate about providing the highest quality care. Their mission is to change the lives of people in their community, both clients and staff, by creating something really special. Their services extend to across the whole of the South Lakes; Kendal, Windermere, Staveley, Ambleside, Grasmere, Milnthorpe, Grange over Sands and the surrounding rural areas.

It is important to the company that every client is looked after as a personal family member and every member of staff is cared for too so they can carry out their vocation to the highest level. My father has been a service user of Westmorland Homecare for around 12 months and the whole experience has been excellent.
All his care needs are met on an individual assessment and the care plan is reviewed and updated regularly. The management team are excellent and very accessible when needed.
The
care providers are consistently professional, caring and trustworthy. They all go above and beyond to provide exceptional care to my dad.
I have worked in the healthcare industry for 40 years and I would rate Westmorland Homecare as outstanding. Thank you to the whole team for enabling my dad to remain in his own home and giving us the confidence of knowing he is cared for in a caring, empathetic way.

I am very pleased with the service WH are providing for my 98 year old mother. The company has a very professional approach and all the staff are equally professional and friendly, providing great customer care. Westmorland Homecare are amazing. From the first contact they have been professional, kind, super efficient, thoughtful and just all round great. Starting homecare for my mum was obviously quite a big step for an independant woman and at every turn, the carers and office teams have made this a dignified
and respectful transition for my mum. And now the care programme is established, it has genuinely brought mum back a real sense of independence again and of wellbeing. We wouldn't be without Westmorland Care now and nor would mum. We are so grateful for all. In summary - they are the best. Thanks Team Westmorland!

I can happily echo the feedback from all the other clients of Westmorland Homecare - words like wonderful, amazing, and the all-encompassing 'OUTSTANDING' spring to mind. My mother came to live with me and my wife about 17 years ago - then aged 87. We didn't consider ourselves as carers until mum had
to spend a few weeks in hospital before returning home in 2022. I had no reservations in turning to Westmorland Homecare for help, which has proven to be the best decision I could have made. Mum is now 104 years old - not as sprightly as she once was, but can still greet our super carers with a big smile each morning! Long may that last. Many thanks to all.

WHC are effient, polite, respectful and always discuss on going needs for my mum , taking into consideration what she wants, needs,for her to have as much independence as is safe to do so, they take familys views and wishes on board and work closely with us , nothing is to much trouble and have adapted

The staff treat my husband with empathy and dignity at all times. The carers are very punctual and come at the appointment time and of they are late a phone call is made.
The carers treat our home with care and reflect my wishes about my husband's care.
This is the second time we have used the services
of the agency and would use again if we needed.

I appreciate having the comfort and care that I am to stay in my own home also that I can rely on knowing that the arranged times are always kept promptly, that I can contact the office with any worries. If I was ill they would contact a doctor or ambulance and stay with until they had arrived.

Westmorland Homecare's detailed approach to my brother-in-law's daily care visits is exemplary. Ensuring the team of carers are well chosen to his needs that are all well trained and work to the same high standards with professional, practical and caring attitudes. To become part of his care team each
person is introduced and shadows for a few calls to ensure a well-informed and happy placement. Any requests or changes to the routine are implemented with ease, no nonsense, no fuss approach, with the care requirement at the heart and priority. Reviews ensure that all aspects run smoothly to the highest possible standard. Without a doubt this has improved his wellbeing, confidence and happiness. We know he is in very safe hands.

Westmorland Homecare looked after Mum from December 2023 to June 2024, when it was agreed by Mum and the family that she would move to a care home. In the 6 months or so that Westmorland Homecare have been caring for Mum we have been so comforted by knowing that she was being looked after with sensitivity,
that her dignity was paramount and all her needs were met. The team have been punctual, polite, friendly and genuinely caring and often going above and beyond in matters big and small. Communication has been fantastic. A few times we have run aground with various medical teams and each time, the office staff have stepped in to liaise with those various teams to get the best possible outcome for Mum and we are truly grateful for their expertise and assistance in those challenging situations. It has been a worrying time, as Mum's needs seemed to change on an almost weekly basis and I genuinely don't know how I would have managed without Westmorland Homecare supporting me and helping me.

Westmoreland Home Care looked after my mum for four years until she moved into a residential home in April this year.
The whole team were amazing!
We started with one visit a day and progressed to four due to Mum's condition.
The whole team were committed to helping Mum stay independent in her home
for as long as possible.
I would highly recommend this service to anyone searching for home care for a loved one.

Without the help of Westmoreland Homecare, I would not be able to keep my wife at home. The carers visit three times a day and provide the assistance I cannot manage by myself. They also provide care when I need longer periods of respite. The quality of care is brilliant for reliability, punctuality
and professionalism- it cannot be beaten. All the dedicated carers are lovely people who provide superb support to myself as well as my wife.

I have received support from Westmorland Care for nearly 5 years. I can highly recommend this outstanding service of care that I receive from my health care assistants and office team. With continuous carers, I have been able to build up trusting relationships with my HCAs and Westmorland Home Care
support me to be independent and enables me to achieve everyday tasks where I feel confident and safe to do so with their support. They have helped me get back into my hobbies and enabled me to get out and socialise and make new friendships I now attend some social groups and attend swimming sessions at my local hydrotherapy pool. Westmorland Homecare has had a huge positive impact on my and my family's life and wouldn’t be without them.

I had been really ill. It was suggested that Westmoreland Homecare be contacted to come to my home and help me. Well, it was one the best decisions I have ever made. My health which, let's face it, is one of the most important things in my life, improved. My life turned around and my quality of life

As a family, we are delighted with the standard of care and support Dad receives from Westmorland Homecare. The care staff on his team are attentive and treat him with the utmost care and professionalism. His needs which are both physical and emotional are attended to diligently, with carers going above
and beyond on many occasions. They have provided a crucial link with the medical profession, recognising instantly when district nurses are needed. Staff recognise that Dad has a wonderful sense of humour and the daily banter is at times very funny. Any queries we had, the management has been helpful and supportive, what is really lovely is that carers make time to check Mum is okay after each visit, and provide help for her and company that is valued. Having Westmorland Homecare looking after Dad's daily needs has been invaluable to our family. He is being well cared for by your carers allowing the time we have with him to be more relaxed, quality, social experience.

After having good care for over 2 years for a complex client, I was appalled when without notice or warning, we received a letter to say they would no longer be providing care.
We literally had 8 working days to find more care. I asked for an extension but this was turned down. They blamed it on the
lack of staff. They abandoned a very complex, highly vulnerable adult and family completely in a dilemma, with major anxiety stress and upset for their client which triggered immense decline physically and mentally. Plus pressure for myself. This was despite us being told they had a new carer to be introduced.
They were fully engaged with continuing the care package the day before. This unprofessional action is shocking and leaves me to say take care with this organisation, they will abandon at any time with no warning.
The decisions will be made not by the supervisor, admin or carers. We have always been pleased with the service. This is negative but extremely stressful and upsetting.

As am sure you are aware this has been extremely complex, we have been working with you and your family for 2 years, we have tried everything to help and support you and your family.
Due to confidentiality I cannot go into the details, but it has been discussed with a number of health professionals and external advice taken. We do not serve notice without a detailed reason. We have provided you and your family with a huge amount of support and advice and our staff continued to do this right up to the end.
We have a duty to support and protect our staff. The team have done all they can to support you and your family over the two years we have acted with kindness compassion and care. We have answered hundreds of emails and phone calls on an almost weekly basis. As a service, we have a responsibility to ensure we can look after and support everyone we look after. If you would like to speak further about the reasons I am more than happy to discuss.

Dr Macaulay has a background in both health and social care. After growing up in the Lake District he graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in Medicine and Surgery and has worked in hospitals across the country. He specialised in Emergency Medicine.. He has worked in homecare for 10 years and previously ran a homecare company in Liverpool before moving back to Kendal. He has also worked in nursing homes including specialised dementia and challenging behaviour care. He holds a level 5 diploma in Leadership as well as undertaking extensive training in Care Management. Dr Macaulay is also a dementia trainer, moving and handling trainer and is a specialist safeguarding lead.

Dr Moss started his career in engineering before moving to health and social care. He completed his second degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Newcastle before undertaking specialist training in intensive care and anaesthetics. He is also an adventure medic and holds an ocean master sailing qualification, mountain medicine diploma and is a qualified skiing instructor.
