The Care Professionals of Home Instead are totally reliable in terms of their attendance and punctuality, and the elderly gentleman client, who lives alone and suffers from dementia, feels the warmth of their friendliness and companionship twice a day. They have displayed initiative and flexibility in going the extra mile, literally, when during recent heavy snow, one of the Home Instead team walked a couple of miles from the village to the client and back to ensure a visit took place and medicines were given. They have been able to deal professionally and competently with unexpected personal ‘accidents’ in the house. They are accurate in the dispensing and recording of medicines and display cheerfulness and capability in all that they do for him. The client has no next of kin and enjoys the company of the small team and that they have time to chat. He welcomes them into his home and is far more alert and active than with the previous care company. The change has been very beneficial.

Home Instead have been visiting my elderly mum since June of last year. She has significant memory difficulties and has been struggling on her own. The home carers have been brilliant with her, have built great working relationships, offered lots of practical support but importantly been a source of companionship as my mum loves a chat and a cup of tea with someone who knows the local area and can share ideas and local news. I really appreciate the initiative and drive the team have, they seem to just get it in terms of what helps my mum. I like the app also as I can look and see what's going on and who has visited. It would be great for relatives to be able to message into the app also, to pass on day-to-day concerns. So all in all a quality service with personality and humour on top. I would recommend it to those looking for homecare as I appreciate it's a tricky market and there is natural anxiety to choose the right service for your relative.

I feel so fortunate to have telephoned Home Instead when it became obvious that my mother would need assistance after a stay in hospital. The help and guidance of such professional and caring people have made the difficult transition from her total independence to accepting care easy. It makes such a difference knowing that her personal hygiene is being attended to daily and that she is happy to see a friendly face each morning. Her apartment is also looking/feeling much better with a daily dose of attention - such a difference and relief for us when we call to visit. We are all very grateful to all the Team at Home Instead they are a pleasure to work with.

The Home Instead team have proven themselves to be both efficient and friendly in establishing care needs on short notice when required. Really wonderful, caring service both for my elderly aunt who really bonded with her carers and for me whenever I had any dealing with the staff at Home Instead. The carers were extremely kind and compassionate and always treated my aunt with dignity and respect, and she enjoyed the time they spent with her and their friendship. Sadly my aunt was recently admitted into hospital where she passed away, but Home Instead have maintained contact with me and has been very caring which I have very much appreciated. It was a great comfort for me to know that my aunt received such excellent care in her last few months.

Wonderful experience throughout. Staff really took the time to listen and find out what would be helpful for Mum. The carers who are now looking after her are fantastic and the ability to keep track of how Mum is doing on a daily basis is a godsend for me and my sisters. I cannot praise nor thank Home Instead enough. My beloved eighty-year-old wife’s Alzheimers led to advanced physical decline and, worse, to increasing mental and behavioural difficulties with mood swings from charming to hostile. Over 16 months, every one of their carers looked after her, initially for a dozen hours a week and ultimately, providing overnight care support with professionalism, patience, dignity, courtesy, compassion, kindliness and friendship. Making hundreds of car journeys along narrow lanes to our secluded home, the carers were on time every time. Great service, with love and a smile!

I would highly recommend Home Instead South Lakes. Firstly, the carers are just that, caring, compassionate and easy to be around. My dad lives alone and is very independent but sometimes finds mornings difficult to get up and about. He was unsure at first about having someone coming in but quickly got used to the idea and now really looks forward to their chats. Secondly, the company as a whole is very professional and efficiently run. From my initial enquiry and setting up process to ongoing admin details, everyone is friendly and easy to get hold of. From previous dealings with different care companies for my late mum. I know how hard it can be to find the right people, it's such an important decision and I'm so glad Home Instead South Lakes were recommended to me and I'm very happy to pass that recommendation on.

The wonderful team of ladies who came to care for my ailing mother couldn't have been kinder and so patient. They were happy to do anything that made life easier for her to enjoy her last few weeks and then days at home. They also cared and advised me when things were really difficult. From the very first contact, our experience has been dealing with an incredibly professional and caring team who have supported Mum for the past 18 months. The caregivers were all friendly and experienced and formed an excellent relationship with Mum throughout. They were punctual which provided a great routine for Mum. The head office management team were excellent in helping Mum with her changing needs including adjustments to schedules and always kept us informed. The daily app messages were incredibly helpful and we felt like we knew what was happening with Mum all the time. Without any question, we would highly recommend using this care provider to others. They were quite simply outstanding in all aspects and we really appreciate all the support provided both to Mum and all of the family.

We have been using Home Instead for two years since my Dad had a stay in hospital and recognised that he could no longer carry on trying to care for my Mum on his own. Right from the start I found my dealings with them to be positive, sympathetic and helpful and they have adapted to the changing situation over time very quickly when required. When my Mum passed away at the end of February, the carers stayed with my Dad until I arrived and have continued to be adaptable to his needs. We hope to continue this positive relationship now that Dad is on his own and appreciate the kindness and compassion shown during this difficult time.

Throughout the 3 years mum has received support in her home the Home Instead carers have been exemplary in their approach to giving sensitive care to Mum. Furthermore, she enjoys their visits and feels listened to, respected, and receives real warmth from them. All my dealings with the management team have shown professional and decisive guidance when we have had difficult episodes in mum's health. I do attribute mum’s continuing level of well-being to the whole team as me and my sister don’t live close to mum, it is important we feel confident in the Home Instead team and for all the reasons above, this has been invaluable to us.

The staff were kind, patient and understanding of his needs, enabling him to maintain a degree of independence but able to assist when needed.
I had no problems in continuing to use their services to assist my mother who started with vascular dementia. Her team of people have been on hand to reassure her as she adjusts to living alone.
It is reassuring to know that someone is with her during the night. Over time she has settled at night, allowing us to modify her care plan so she can have a companion on a weekly basis who can take her out for tea and cake. Give her a change of scene and someone else to talk to.
A carer turns up to each shift and it is always someone Mum knows.

My dad has sadly passed away, in the last few weeks of his life, Home Instead provided additional care for him, calling in three times a day to provide personal care, companionship and respite for my brother and I, who were staying in his home.
I cannot thank the whole team of care professionals enough! To say they all went above and beyond in their care for our family is an understatement and we are indebted to them for the way in which they made a very difficult time much more bearable. It felt as if each member of the team became not just someone who provided a service (which they did and very professionally), but a friend and I've missed seeing them since Dad's passing. Each one is an absolute credit to Home Instead!

Carers from Home Instead have been looking after my late husband from May 2021 (companionship) till May 2022, when the NHS asked them to provide two carers, four times a day. This continued, with a short break, until his death in September. My whole experience was one of their concern for us both. At first, it was more emphasis on cheerfulness and chatting with him, plus helping with chores for me. As things became more difficult, physical support with showering and toileting was given in such a way as to maintain his dignity. Neither of us ever felt we were being a nuisance. Once or twice, they diffused argumentative situations between us, brought about by tiredness (me) or frustration (him). All our carers had different personalities and different gifts, but all gave me confidence in their knowledgeable support and advice.

Home Instead have been visiting my Mum for about 6 months. This is the first time she has needed some extra support in her home and was anxious about it. The whole team are very professional and make my Mum feel special. They go out for walks, go shopping, go to the local coffee shops, they wash and set her hair and paint her nails and have a lot of laughs. I know my Mum looks forward to their visits and is always happy to tell me about her time with the careers. Mum has Alzheimer's and can become anxious. The care visits give her a plan for her week and something to look forward to. I know she is happy and safe when I can't be there.

Excellent attentive and thoughtful care. Client enjoyed the visits and benefited from regular hot mid-day meal. Only slight issue was in passing information from one carer to another, for example what to put in sandwiches. A pattern was established after a few weeks but sadly the client then went into a Care Home.

Owners of Home Instead South Lakes
I oversee the whole operation of running Home Instead South Lakes, Home Instead Lytham, Fylde & Wyre and Home Instead Preston & South Ribble, including the Care Professionals, Office Support Team, the Senior Leadership Team and a network of external contacts who help support our business and clients. I have been assessed by the CQC as competent to hold Registered Manager status for the business, which I share with Pamela Gios. I completed Level 5 Management and Leadership in Adult Social Care in 2022, which is the qualification needed to hold Registered Manager status in England.
I am fully responsible for overseeing a Caring, Responsive, Effective, Well-led and Safe Domiciliary care business, ably supported by the Senior Leadership Team and Office Support Team.
I also oversee the Safeguarding Team, which ensures all Care Professionals are kept up to date and trained on all Safeguarding protocols. I am the Privacy Champion for all data protection matters in the business.
I love my role and working with the whole Team to ensure our Care Professionals can all deliver exceptional care to all our clients in the South Lakes community. I am so proud that we have been rated ‘OUTSTANDING’ with the CQC since we began, and our 10 rating on homecare.co.uk.
Our business has grown significantly since I joined in 2020, and we are adapting and listening to our Care Professionals and clients to continue to deliver OUTSTANDING care to enable people to Live Well Their Way in our community!
I started as a Care Professional, moved into Recruitment, and then became Operations Manager before progressing to Group Operations Manager for Home Instead South Lakes and North Lakes. I’m part of the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with Louise, Pamela and Rachel D to keep our clients and Care Professionals at the heart of everything we do.
I oversee the full operation across both offices, including care delivery, recruitment and support for our Care Professionals, ensuring a high-quality, consistent service throughout.
I’m passionate about improving our services and supporting our team, including in my role as a Wellbeing Champion. I focus on building strong relationships with our Care Professionals and community partners to help people live well at home for as long as possible.
I’m proud to support a close-knit team delivering outstanding care across our communities.
I joined Home Instead South Lakes in March 2018 as a Care Professional, and I’m now the Care Standards Manager and Registered Manager. I have worked in the care sector in Cumbria since leaving university many years ago.
I support Rachel and Rachel in overseeing the care operation, working closely with the Support Team to ensure we are meeting franchise standards, brand guidelines, regulations and legislation. This includes keeping all client and Care Professional records up to date and carrying out regular audits to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
My focus is on strengthening our processes and systems to ensure we consistently deliver the highest quality care.
I started as a Care Professional with Home Instead over four years ago, and my journey here has been nothing short of life-changing. In my new role as Care Operations Manager, I am responsible for supporting our Care Professionals to ensure they thrive in their roles. This includes overseeing their support visits, conducting one-to-one meetings and appraisals, and providing guidance to help them deliver the exceptional care Home Instead is known for. I also support new Care Professionals as they transition into their roles, ensuring they feel confident and fully equipped.
Previously, I focused on scheduling clients’ visits, ensuring both clients and Care Professionals had outstanding experiences. Home Instead’s commitment to one-hour minimum visits allows our Care Professionals to build meaningful bonds with clients, and I’ve always been passionate about planning schedules that prioritise a good work/life balance.
Through Home Instead, I achieved my Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, which boosted my confidence and enabled me to progress in my career. It’s been a privilege to help train new Care Professionals and ensure they have everything they need to succeed.
Home Instead has given me a sense of purpose, along with incredible training opportunities through our ‘Career Pathway.’ These have not only enhanced my skills and knowledge but also opened doors for me to grow within the company. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m proud to help grow our business and ensure the South Lakes community continues to receive the OUTSTANDING care they deserve.
I joined Home Instead over four years ago, and my journey here has been incredibly rewarding. In my role as Group Business Development and Systems Manager, I am responsible for supporting all three offices across various aspects of business operations. This includes ensuring our systems work seamlessly together, managing data and reporting, driving further business development, and fostering collaboration between the offices to maintain alignment and efficiency.
Previously, my role focused on onboarding new clients, guiding them from their initial enquiry to their very first visits. I worked closely with external agencies to address client requirements, family needs, and funding, ensuring every client’s experience was OUTSTANDING from the very start. I also ensured our clients were invoiced correctly, queries were resolved promptly, and our Care Professionals were paid accurately.
I continue to maintain and optimise our IT systems and software, ensuring we operate as efficiently as possible. Together with the rest of the office support team, I strive to ensure our Care Professionals and clients always have an exceptional experience at Home Instead.

I joined Home Instead South Lakes in 2020, initially as a Care Professional, and I’m now proud to serve as the Brand and Media Coordinator. I have loved the career progression that Home Instead has enabled me to achieve through their fantastic Career Pathway!
In my role, I am responsible for all marketing across our three offices, including managing our social media channels and creating adverts for Meta and Google. I also oversee magazine advertising for the South Lakes and handle internal graphics and communications to ensure our branding is consistent and engaging.

My role is to make sure every client receives outstanding, person-centred care. I also work closely with our Care Professionals, providing training and guidance to help them thrive in their roles.
I’m Martyna, Field Admin Support at Home Instead. I provide essential support to the care team, helping keep everything organised and running smoothly behind the scenes.
I also manage our social media, where I edit videos, create graphics and content, and connect with our community to showcase the amazing work our team does.
On care days, I support the care team more directly—assisting with escalated notes, training paperwork, uploading and maintaining records, scheduling, and a variety of day-to-day tasks to ensure everything is up to date and compliant.
