We have used Lotus Home Care for just over a year and have been very pleased with the care given. My dad has a regular carer, this has allowed my dad to build up a lovely relationship with him and his carer has to know dad really well. When dads care package needed amending due to his health deteriorating,
Lotus talked me through what needed to be done re, social workers etc. The new care package was set up and ready to go within 3/4 hours.
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Leeds

Could you please ask carers to wear uniforms + pp6 i.e. aprons shoes covers + change of gloves. The majority don't wear them!
Thank you.
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Leeds

Thank you for raising this concern. We will remind all carers that uniforms and full PPE (including aprons, shoe covers, and regular glove changes) must be worn at all times. Your feedback is important to us , and we'll make sure this is addressed promptly.

In our opinion you have an excellent care worker.
She is head and shoulders above the bust of the rest. She instantly knows and she's what is required and gets on completing the tasks. The majority of the rest seem happy to do the minimum and spend their time viewing their phones.
For example one
carer was quite happy to study bananas. We therefore consider month considerable increase pay and not just a bonus.
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Calderdale and Kirklees

Thank you very much for your feedback. We're really pleased to hear how highly you regard your care worker and the difference she is making. It's clear she is providing an excellent standard of care.I'll make sure your comments are passed on to her, as well as to the wider team. We also take note of your concerns about other carers and their use of time, and this will be addressed to ensure consistency in the level of care provided. We really value your input, as it helps us improve both for staff and for those receiving care.

The times of visits should be breakfast 8-9, lunch 12-1 and tea 5-6.
The duration of the visits should be the same for both of us.
The council are in the progress of drawing up a 'care plan' of which we have never had a copy but hope to receive this very soon.
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Calderdale and Kirklees

Thank you for clarifying the visit times - breakfast 8-9, lunch 12-1 and tea 5-6 - we'll make sure these are followed.I also agree that the duration of visits should be the same for both of us to keep things consistent. Thank you for your feedback .

It is difficult for my wife and I to build up a rapport with the carers as we do not see the same ones regularly enough. We use the app to make plans for the week ahead with the carers. My wife has had some family issues and has spoken to the designated carer only to find it has been another carer who
has attended and has not been aware of the change of needs if my wife is not present.
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Leeds

Thank you for sharing this with us. We understand how important it is to have continuity with carers and how frustrating it can be when changes aren't communicated clearly. We're sorry that recent schedule changes meant a different carer attended without being aware of your wife's updated needs. We will review our rota process and ensure that, whenever a change is unavoidable, the attending carer is fully briefed in advance.

My excellent experience:
For almost three years, I have been one of my carers clients. She is an outstanding carer and I really appreciate her support. She has many great qualities. Foremost amongst these are her patient, altruistic and compassionate nature. Her conscientious attention to detail while
supporting me always makes me feel respected and valued. She is particularly adept at supporting me to attend and access activities in my local community. For example, she supports me to engage in gardening activities with a local gardening group. She also provides me with excellent sighted guidance on walks as I am visually impaired. In my opinion, she is the best carer in the company and it is a privilege to be cared for by her.
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Wakefield

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It truly means a lot to know that our support has had such a positive impact on your life. We feel privileged to work with you and to be part of your journey. Supporting you in your community activities and daily life is always a pleasure, and we are grateful for the trust you've placed in Lotus . Your feedback is deeply appreciated and motivates Lotus to continue giving their best every day.

.. in all working groups there is a range of abilities. In this case all the staff are satisfactory to good to occasionally excellent, very industrious, intelligent, kind, caring and very respectful. They all engage well with the person being cared for, jollying them along when the mood of the client
is awkward, to ease the situation as appropriately to succeed in giving the required. The carers always work in harmony with the client's husband acting as their assistant.
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Wakefield

Thank you for your thoughtful and balanced feedback. We fully acknowledge that, as with any team, there is a natural range of abilities. It is encouraging to hear that all staff are consistently satisfactory to good, with moments of excellence. We greatly value their industriousness, intelligence, kindness, and respectful approach. It's particularly pleasing to know that the team engages so well with the client, using empathy and gentle encouragement to manage more challenging moments effectively. We also appreciate your recognition of the carers' collaborative approach with the client's husband, which is key to maintaining a supportive and cohesive care environment.Your comments are much appreciated and will be shared with the team to reinforce their positive impact.

What really makes care providers shine in end of life situations is when they excel at everything in showing compassion and care to the people they're supporting. Although our relationship was only short, the support we received from both management and the actual carer was exemplary. The carer couldn't
do enough - my parents need reassurance within an unusual situation - everyone warmed to her really quickly. Thank you for everything you've done.

The general care is ok and my mother is happy.
However, as one of the main reasons for carers is the supervision of medication, when carers do not turn up until around 11am on weekends (not every weekend) this means my mums morning medication is taken too late in the day and too close to the evening
medication.
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Leeds

Thank you for your feedback - we're really pleased to hear that your mother is happy with the general care she's receiving. We completely understand your concern regarding the timing of her medication, as this is a crucial aspect of her care. We apologise for the occasional late visits on weekends and recognise how this can affect her medication schedule. We'll review the weekend rota and speak with the care team to ensure more consistent and timely visits moving forward, especially in the mornings. Your input is very important, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

It is difficult to judge "value for money" as I have nothing to compare it with. "Management" rating is low, despite them making several phone calls to check my wife was happy with their services. It is clear that the company is struggling to recruit carers. It is disappointing therefore to see that
intransigence of a local manager has lead directly to a much liked and experienced carer leaving the company after 5+ years service. Despite our 30 min call time of 09:45, carers are sometimes visiting up to an hour in advance or later than contracted. One occasion, we were woken by the Lotus carer knocking on the door at 07:55. On mothers day no lotus representative attended. On sunday 23rd Feb '25, carer called at 11:20. As my wife had got herself up and dressed by then and had breakfast, the carers were not required )apparently called a doorstep cancellation). I do not expect to pay for this pointless visit. Does Lotus inform the local authority not to charge on such occasions?
Reply from gerry petts, Customer Experience Quality Officer at Lotus Home Care Wakefield

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We genuinely appreciate your honesty and the opportunity to address your concerns. We understand that it can be difficult to assess value for money without other services to compare with, and we take your comments regarding management and staffing very seriously. We are aware of the current challenges in recruiting and retaining carers within the sector and are actively working to improve this, so that we can provide greater consistency and reliability for all our clients. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by carers arriving outside the scheduled times, as well as for the missed visit on Mother's Day and the late visit on 23rd February. These are not the standards we aim to uphold, Regarding your concern about being charged for visits that did not take place or were not needed , We will investigate the specific incident you mentioned and ensure that, where applicable you are not be billed .
