Formally known as TLC Homecare, Choices Homecare's motto is 'skilled care your way', which is a philosophy they look to bring to older and vulnerable adults throughout South and West Yorkshire. They are proud to support people to live in their own homes for longer and can provide a full range of homecare services.

They offer a person centred approach to a wide range of care needs (offering support with: personal care, meal preparation, medication assistance, home respite/safety check visits or sitting services whilst family go out (or other), assisting service users to go out into the community, shopping, light domestic help and more). They can also provide support to adults who suffer dementia, or those with learning or other disabilities.

There is a strong focus on quality recruitment and training and Choices are passionate about delivering safe, well planned services; care and support workers promote choice and independence to assist service users in remaining as independent as possible, whatever the situation. I would recommend all (except one who came to cover from Darfield). I had her 2 days and I found her bossy and even though she was told not to touch my calves, she had to be told repeatedly. The first day was shower day. She grabbed the sponge and proceeded to wash me all over including lifting my breasts
to wash underneath. Thankfully she did not wash between my legs/private parts. I am quite capable of washing myself and she took away my dignity. I do not want her in my house again. I will not accept her as my carer and will refuse her. She did other things wrong repeatedly. I wonder if she read my care plan? 19/6/19, 20/6/19.

I am having a great experience with TLC carers. I have found that I really get on fabulously with one young carer, she, as a carer, is absolutely wonderful, I would dearly love her to be my permanent carer when she is at work. I do understand that I would have to accept on her day off and when she's
on holiday or on sick that I would have to accept different carers. She has helped me to accept having carers as I was dead set against having carers but one carer is no longer with and this carer has helped me lots.

I recently booked some welfare calls to check on my Mum whilst I was on holiday. The care worker did an amazing job and my Mum looked forward to seeing her every day. I would highly recommend TLC Homecare.

No consultation about the replacement carer covering for maternity leave. No ring back when enquiring about anything.

I find the care provided by my regular carers extremely good but the carers who come when the regular ones are away leave a lot to be desired. Some are OK but there are those who couldn't care less and do not take care.

My experience is the best anyone could have. The girls that see to me are wonderful, never without kindness and always good words. When my husband needed the same care, I said I only wanted TLC to do for him and was over the moon when it worked out my family was also very pleased. We are so grateful

I look forward to the carers coming in. The carers are better than my relatives. I am grateful for the carers because I keep losing my balance and If I don't sit down I fall down and I can't stand for very long. The carers come and do my meals they get me a bottle of water out of the fridge and I always
joke about it being Vodka but I suffer from epilepsy and can't have alcohol.

Four times a day, seven days a week, month in month out, TLC ladies appear and carry out their duties in the most caring manner possible. We really couldn't wish for any better service. Jokingly, when I hear the girls walk down my drive, I will utter the words "The angels are here" but in all seriousness,
they most certainly are.

Sarah Ramsey

I'm Sarah, a care coordinator covering the Cudworth, Town, Darton, Worsbrough, plus any other areas of Barnsley in between.


I never thought of ever getting into care work until the horrible COVID-19 struck, and I couldn't do my previous job. I felt grounded and needed to get out of the house. I then saw a job for home care and thought I'd give that a go! I fell in love with care so much that I gave up my other job and became a team leader, and then, due to hard work, dedication and transferable skills, I became a care coordinator. I joined Choices due to the positive things I had heard and the career progression that is offered. Since starting, I have never looked back and can't wait to see where this journey will take me.


In my spare time, I love spending time with my beautiful little boy and husband.
