My carer takes me shopping and various errands. She is very helpful and will also occasionally help me with ordering medications and library renewals online. I look forward to her visits. She is always reliable and on time.

My carers from Home Instead are very caring, efficient, friendly, punctual, organised and dedicated.
The carers take time in the morning so I can wake up at my own pace.
They treat me as an individual and I enjoy having conversations with them whilst they attend to my needs.
The managers in the office
are very approachable and email/ring my daughter promptly if they have any concerns about me.
New staff accompany my usual carer prior to their first visit so I can get to know them first.

Home Instead Senior Care (Southampton) have been completely fantastic! I feel totally confident that the caregivers are kind and compassionate towards my father. They have built a really positive relationship with him and I know they are conscientious in their care for him. The communication systems
we have in place for both carer to us, the family and the office are excellent.

We first employed Home Instead in July 2012. This turned out to be an extremely wise move as we then had a group of superb professionals, with a very caring side to look after my mother during twice daily visits.
The Carers were superb, matched to mother's personality and totally reliable. The office
staff were very much part of the team. Any concerns about mother were quickly passed on to us.
Reply from Graeme Cann at Home Instead (Southampton)Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review about our care for your mother. I live 350 miles away from my elderly father in Southampton and have used Home Instead for almost 6 years. Initially for my mum, but for the last 4 and a half years as a companion carer for my dad. Home Instead have spent time in pairing the gentleman carer with my dad and he is excellent. Home Instead
and the companion carer give excellent service. I can relax when I know dad is out with him having a safe and pleasant time. Home Instead are only at the end of a phone line for me. Excellent!!

Pulling out all the stops during the recent inclement weather, Home Instead have proved their weight in gold!
The management kept us fully informed whilst their local caregivers went the extra mile to ensure Mum's care was consistent.
Since her diagnosis, Mum has never been happier, comfy, cosy, clean
and well fed and it's all down to the Home Instead wonderful staff.
They are not the cheapest agency but are one of the best.
Reply from Graeme Cann, Director at Home Instead (Southampton)Thank you so much for recognising the efforts of our fantastic CAREGiver team supporting your mother. The snowy conditions during the first few days of March certainly created some challenges but we were all determined to be there for our clients. Many walked to each client, some drove and others were driven to ensure our service continued and our clients were not left alone. We are so pleased to hear how settled your mother is and it is our privilege to support her. I will happily share your comments with the whole team. Thank you.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.874 for Home Instead (Southampton) is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 87 Ratings = 4.874
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Home Instead (Southampton) is based on 14 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4.85
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Live in Manager Joined: 2013

I have over 30 years of experience in recruitment and obtained my qualifications with the REC, of which I am a Fellow. I also have an NVQ 4 in Management and a Certificate in Personnel Practice.

Before joining Home Instead, I worked for 11 years within the Health and Social Care sector as a Registered Manager. During this time, I also managed a Specialist Nurses Division, recruiting Theatre Nurses, Prison Nurses, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Health Nurses and Learning Disability Nurses.

My experiences working within the healthcare sector have definitely been the most fulfilling. I am passionate about helping older people retain their independence and dignity and remain safely in their own homes. Selecting the right people to join our family of CAREGivers keeps me extremely busy, but it is always interesting meeting new people and offering them the opportunity to join us and make a real difference to older people. I watch them grow in confidence and hear about the relationships they have with our clients, and it makes me really proud of my role, connecting people and making them feel good.

I also help out at the memory cafe we run every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. This makes a change to being in the office but also gives me a chance to meet people who are coping with dementia, and I try to brighten up their day if I can.

I get to meet and greet everyone who comes to our lovely office, so there is really never a dull moment in my working day. I share Home Instead's values and ethos, and I know that by being part of the team, we all work hard to make all the difference we can.
