The team specialise in care for adults in and around Southampton, enabling them to remain at home, where they are most happy and comfortable. They also support individuals with sensory and physical impairment and are registered by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide personal care. A number of clients are living with dementia or Alzheimer's and families come to Home Instead for support because of the provider's consistent approach to the same Care Professionals visiting their loved ones. The team find this consistency and relationship led care achieves the best outcomes. I have found this an excellent service. The carer is always on time and very sensitive to changing situations and moods of the client. Although the main request for help was for personal care, this is sometimes found to be impossible on account of the client being unable or reluctant to respond. In
this case, a flexible approach and willingness to adapt to whatever task needs assistance has always been given in a very friendly and pleasant manner. The carer has also been alert to changes in the physical condition of the client, such as detecting urine infection, potential sores, painful areas etc which has been much appreciated.

Home Instead Senior Care stepped in immediately to provide additional care when my mother had a fall earlier in the year and I can't thank them enough for helping the family through a very difficult period with their continuing support mum remains in her own home where she wants to be and they treat
her with respect and courtesy.

Home Instead are expensive as some other providers (twice the cost of some others) but service is of a high quality and very reliable which is what is important to us.


Due to my mother's care package, it would be useful for us if Home Instead provided 'partial hours' as well as hourly visits. While

we understand the logistics this might bring for the agency sometimes my mother does not need a full hourly visit. This brings financial implications around her care package, social care benefits and contributions. For example, 4 visits per week spread over 2x1 hour and 2x30mins would meet our needs rather than having to pay for 4 one hour visits. For this reason, we score lower for 'value for money' - this does not relate in any way to the caregivers who are some of the best we have experienced. On the occasions when I have contacted the office staff are friendly, helpful, and communication is very good.

I have been in the care of Home Instead for about two years at two or three different residences. My impression of their services is very favourable indeed. Their carers are well equipped with the base skills necessary for their work but they also had a wide 'hinterland' of their experience, which makes
them interesting and, in fact, fun to be with. Recent careers for me have included a retired banker from the Far East and someone with immense local knowledge of Hampshire.

We are very impressed with the efficiency of the service and the care you take in every aspect. Whenever I need to contact Home Instead, the people deal with the issue quickly and in a friendly manner. We have a fantastic carer whose visits are the highlight of our mum's week.
I have recommended Home
Instead to my husband and he and his parents met with a manager from another branch a couple of days ago, with a view to having help in their home.

Home instead offered the support we required for my mum. All the staff are friendly, caring , and understanding of our position and have delivered an excellent service. My mum looks forward to her visits from her “ ladies” and has a lovely friendly relationship with them. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

We were really pleased with the standard of care provided by our mum's carers over the last four years.
They were a great support to our mum and also to us during this time.
They particularly went above and beyond our expectations when our mum was recently discharged from the hospital.
They were
more than just carers to our mum and really became friends to her as well.

Home Instead is a wonderful care agency. They support as much or as little as needed.
My uncle loves the interaction with the male caregivers as he able to talk about football and other things of interest.
The carers make sure that they find either chores or interact with my uncle, they don't just
'sit around'.
The cost of the care is a true reflection of the service we receive.

My mother and I are more than happy with the service provided by Home Instead. Most importantly, she appreciates the consistency of her carers, the same ladies visiting each time, familiar with routines locations and preferences.
While here, they are capable, efficient and friendly. Needless to say,
punctuality and reliability have been exemplary, smooth liaison with their office and clients making this possible,

The team of people from Home Instead who provide care for my parents are like friends who visit the home. They are most competent, resourceful, proactive in a dynamic environment, and are genuinely caring and kind. I think one thing that is so lacking generally is respect but not here with Home Instead,
they are sensitive to my parents' personal preferences, how they may feel about things and above all patient - a very necessary attribute when confronted with the changes a person with dementia can throw at you.


The management is very hands-on, actively involved, very approachable and supportive.

The caregivers are always cheerful and we look forward to their visits. Nothing is too much trouble if we ask for assistance. The staff at the office always keep us informed if any changes should occur. The memory café ensures that contact is maintained outside the home environment with other Home Instead
users.

Very happy with the care Mum receives from her carer. She is always joyful and in good humour, which is helpful to Mum when she is feeling a bit low.


I have found all the staff very helpful, friendly and courteous.


Mum is happy with her carer and that is a big relief for me and my family.

My husband has a long spell in hospital and when he came home, he had lost touch with ordinary matters of daily life. In addition to doing things for him when required, they gently and skilfully helped him back to some of his former skills (such as computing). They take him for regular outings which
enriched his life and they chatted endlessly about things that were familiar as well as things that were new, all of which stimulated his mind. They care for him and protect him from harm at the same time they enlarge his daily life.
The organisation is efficient and keep me informed. They are sensitive to his needs and never let him down.

I was one of the first CAREGivers to join the Southampton office in July 2010. I was looking for a part-time job to enable me to integrate back into employment after spending the last ten years raising my three children. I had busied myself within the community as a Parish Councillor and I was also Editor of the local quarterly publication. CAREGiving sounded like the perfect job. I loved visiting the clients I was matched to and I became very attached to them.


The opportunity arose to apply for a full-time position in the office in May 2011. I have partaken in all the office roles over the years as we have grown and even qualified as a trainer along the way. I have worked with some talented people here at Home Instead and learnt so much from them – I am grateful to them all.


My passion is taking all the care enquiries, I listen and empathise with the situation because I totally understand how complex it can be sometimes, reaching a decision about what to do next to allow a loved one to stay safe and happy at home. I cannot describe how amazing it is to meet up after speaking on the phone and offering reassurance whilst knowing in my heart we do what we say we do.


We had a vacancy here for my current position and I was asked by Mike and Greg, our owners, to consider the role. The rest of the team encouraged me to take it and as I had such support I accepted – thank you, team! I am happy I did because I now have more opportunities to grow the business so we can help even more people to stay living well in their own homes.


I would urge anyone to become a CAREGiver if they have any spare time on their hands because I cannot describe the incredible feeling that making a difference gives you. Our training is bespoke and fantastic and looks at the opportunities it has given me!


I feel passionate about the Home Instead ethos and I know that matching CAREGivers to Clients in the ‘Home Instead Way’ is still unique. It is what drew me to work for Home Instead and continues to do so every year that passes!

I joined Home Instead in April 2013 and am responsible for CAREGiver recruitment.


I have over 30 years of experience in recruitment and obtained my qualifications with the REC of which I am a Fellow. I also have an NVQ 4 in Management and a Certificate in Personnel Practice.


Before joining Home Instead I worked for 11 years within the Health and Social Care sector as a Registered Manager. During this time I also managed a Specialist Nurses Division, recruiting Theatre Nurses, Prison Nurses, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Health Nurses and Learning Disability Nurses.


My experiences working within the healthcare sector have definitely been the most fulfilling. I am passionate about helping older people retain their independence and dignity and remain safely in their own homes. Selecting the right people to join our family of CAREGivers keeps me extremely busy but it is always interesting meeting new people and offering them the opportunity to join us and make a real difference to older people. I watch them grow in confidence and hear about the relationships they have with our clients and it makes me really proud of my role, connecting people and making them feel good.


I also help out at the memory cafe we run every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. This makes a change to being in the office but also gives me a chance to meet people who are coping with dementia and I try to brighten up their day if I can.


I get to meet and greet everyone who comes to our lovely office, so there is really never a dull moment in my working day. I share Home Instead's values and ethos and I know being part of the team, we all work hard to make all the difference we can.

I started my career in childcare, where has looked after and babysat my younger family members, which was a natural fit for my caring and compassionate nature. After a few years in the retail industry, I decided that I really missed the caring industry and was fortunate enough to join Home Instead in 2012. Having never worked in elderly care before this was an exciting step for me.


Over the past 6 years as a CAREgiver at Home Instead, I've loved supporting my clients! My clients have had a range of needs from living with Dementia & Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Palliative Care to companionship visits where I've accompanied them to appointments and shopping trips.


Helping clients to live as independently as possible within their own homes is so important to me and it's very rewarding knowing that you've made a difference in their lives and helped to enable this.


In my role as a Field Care Manager, I am excited to be able to look after our existing clients and also to meet and welcome our new clients to our lovely Home Instead family!
