We chose Home Instead Senior Care many years ago to support my aunt. Initially, we arranged a fortnightly visit so she and her dog could be taken out by car to enjoy a walk in a different location. The consistency of the carers has made a significant difference; it has led to a much better understanding
of her needs and has made the visits far more enjoyable for her. Having the same people support her removes all anxiety about what to expect, what they will be like, and whether they will understand her needs.
My aunt found the support so beneficial that she increased the frequency of her visits. She now alternates weekly between a dog walk and a shopping trip.
As a family member, it is incredibly reassuring to know that my aunt receives regular, consistent support. I have full confidence that her support worker knows her well enough to recognise any changes or concerns and to communicate these back to us. This feedback is extremely valuable.
Would highly recommend.

My partner had Vascular dementia and Alzheimer's and was in Residential Care in Chippenham...sadly he passed away early January 2026.

His Home Instead professional carers came in to see him twice a week from the beginning of July 2025 onwards to help him settle into the Home.

He had used their

services whilst he was at home and it made sense to continue using the Services of Home Instead so that he had a familiar face/person around him and who he felt comfortable with.

They always treated him with great respect, understanding, care and dignity and he really looked forward to their visits. One of the Professional carers visited him on Boxing Day at the Care Home.

He liked all of the Carers but he did have a special place in his heart for one of them...they just bonded and had a really lovely friendly, professional relationship.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead to anyone looking for Care Professionals who truly understand the needs of their Service User

We have been using Home Instead for about 3 years, first for my Mum who had 2 visits a day for over a year before she had to go into permanent care (and has since died). Since then we have kept the evening visit on for Dad (96) to be a presence in the flat while he has a shower and to assist with his
evening meal. As he is getting more infirm we will be looking to increase this level of care as he does not wish to go into residential care if it can be avoided.
Over this time we have obviously had a number of different carers and they have all been different characters, but the one thing that they have in common is that they are all fantastic! Cannot fault the care given, and always with a smile.
In addition the admin side is great, as flexible as they can be with changes as needed. Well done!

I was already aware of the great service your carers have given to my aunt in the last few years. Their care and concern for her were so appreciated. They were never rushed and always did over and beyond. Always with respect for their client.

But in the last week of her life they excelled. She needed

medical intervention. They knew exactly what to do, their training and expertise kicked in straightaway.

In the final few days of her life, the carers helped us make decisions we would have been out of our depth to make.

They are caring, kind, thorough, compassionate. I can not recommend them or their managers too highly. They have made a difficult time smooth, efficient but with knowledge and compassion. Thank you.

Reply from Kerri Gardner, Registered Care Manager at Home Instead (Bath)Thank you for your lovely review, it was a privilege to support your aunt and enable her to remain at home living as independently as possible for so long.

My mum had help from Home Instead for about 3 years. The carers really did become like friends, as well as carrying out various household tasks. To start with the visits included shopping trips. As time went on, and life became more difficult, the carers' role changed to include medication and personal
care. Eventually it became unsafe to continue keeping mum in her own house, but Home Instead helped with the transition to a nursing home, by visiting mum in the home.

It was always easy to contact the team, by email or telephone (even out of hours, by phone) and we were able to read the carer's notes from each visit online. When there were problems these were resolved eg if mum didn't get on with a particular carer, someone else would be found.

Reply from Kerri Gardner, Registered Care Manager at Home Instead (Bath)Thank you for your lovely feedback. We really hope mum has settled into her new environment and you are all keeping well.

In the most excellent way, Home Instead have supported my mother for well over a year at home. Their care and support has consistently been appropriate, kind, professional, responsive and supportive at difficult moments, as well as good natured and down to earth. They work well to include family members
and keep communications open and understanding. They are also excellent at choosing staff who will work well with my mother, her personality and interests. We have all become very fond of the carers - and it gives us all a huge boost to have Home Instead at our side. We wholeheartedly recommend Home Instead to anyone looking for support at home!

I cannot fault Home Instead - we have used them for several years and the staff have always been kind helpful professional and generally wonderful! When we have needed to 'up' the help Mum has the admin staff have always tried (and succeeded) to help us out and reorganise things wherever they could.
The carers who spent time with mum were such lovely people - with a broad selection of different skills and interests that they brought to the job In fact Mum would joke that the person she most frequently had to help her became a second daughter to her - which for me as her 'real' daughter who lives the other side of the country, gave me such comfort - to know she was being helped to remain independent and happy in her own home for as long as possible. A million thank yous

Life for mum has been greatly improved thanks to the wonderful staff at Home Instead. She feels more invigorated and her zest for life has improved despite the challenges an 87 year old has when the body starts to fail.
This in turn has made visiting mum even more of a pleasure for us family members
and gives us peace of mind.
Many Thanks team from Rob

Mum had been receiving weekly visits from Alison at Home Instead for a few months. When Mum first met Alison her comment was that she was the type of person that everybody would get on well with. Mum enjoyed Alison's visits and was able to cook, go out for a walk or see to other things around the house.
When Mums dementia took a turn and it became impossible to look after her at home, Home Instead gave us good advice and sympathetic support to get Mum into a care home.

Using Home Instead is enabling me to carry on living in my own home. The carers can do in one hour what would take me all day to do - and then I could not do it thoroughly.
Also, it is good to have some social interaction each morning - especially if no one else is coming in that day.

The flexibility, responsiveness and initiative shown by the supervisors and carers at Home Instead has been excellent. Communication has been strong, using the portal online, regular emails, and phone calls for more urgent issues. Where problems have arisen, the team have swung into action to find
solutions, visiting the pharmacy, visiting my mum in hospital, picking up shopping, and booking hair or medical appointments. Each carer to visit my mum has been personally introduced, is friendly and really takes time to get to know her. I couldn't ask for more. The companionship visits and shopping trips have been particularly valuable, massively enhancing my mum's quality of life. Inevitably, for such a quality service, demand is high, and scheduling calls for specific times isn't always easy. But the managers have gone above and beyond to do their best to accommodate, and by communicating so well, we have always been able to find a solution. Huge thanks to all the team.

From the moment I made the first phone call to Home Instead I knew things would be good. They focused immediately on Mum, asking me to tell them about her rather than telling me about cost and availability. Mum felt very comfortable with everything straight away and didn't have the anxiety that I had
anticipated. The carers are amazing. They have done so much more than I ever expected they would. They are never rushed. I thought it was a cliche when people say that their carers are like friends but Mum is so comfortable with them that I understand what people mean by this now. It has helped me enormously particularly as I don't have to do all the household jobs myself anymore. The supervisors are in regular contact to make sure all is well. We were planning to go away for a night and we had to make sure we fitted it around the carers as Mum didn't want it cancel them! It has been life changing for Mum and me and we are so grateful to Home Instead for their care and efficiency

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.887 for Home Instead (Bath) is calculated as follows: ( (227 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 247 Ratings = 4.887
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Home Instead (Bath) is based on 41 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
