Horrible experience, including:
- Care worker taking cigarettes breaks outside the home at inappropriate times.
- You get zero say in who the care worker is.
- Care workers ignored my mum on occasions while she was begging for help. This continued to happen even after I reported it.
- Issues around
the conduct of care workers respecting property. For example one care worker caused damage and didn't report it. I only happened to find out about it afterwards.
- Care Managers don't bother picking up the phone to contact you if there's a problem, therefore causing problems to fester or be misunderstood.
- Care workers generally appear glum.
- Care workers not having experience of my mum's equipment.
- Care workers not having adequate dementia experience.
- Very poor management of changeovers.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with our services. Following a thorough review, I understand that you have been in contact with our care team to address several concerns, but unfortunately, our proposed solutions did not meet your expectations. Given this we regretfully had no option but to issue notice of termination of services. We hope that you will find a care provider that will offer you the service you desire and we wish you and your family all the best.

We've had a variety of carers looking after Mum (who has dementia) for the last couple of years. There have been a couple who haven't quite 'got the hang' of her but Mum's main long term carer is, in my sister in law's words, 'worth her weight in platinum, never mind gold!'. She's kind, caring, compassionate,
patient, the list goes on. She doesn't take any nonsense from Mum and always persuades her to do the things she needs her to do.
She's a very easy person to have around the home and fits in with everyone around and most importantly is always flexible. We just can't recommend her highly enough.

We turned to Promedica24 when my father couldn't manage at home on his own anymore due to dementia and mobility issues. The manager talked us through the whole process and assessed dads needs. As with many people, dad didn't want 'strangers in his house' but when the carer came into his life with kindness,
encouragement, laughter and cooking skills, his attitude changed. He was happy with the banter between them and he missed her on her breaks back home. She became his regular carer until he sadly passed away in March 2025. Thanks to the dedication of the manager, who was always at the end of the phone as well as her visits and the support of the carer, dads last year was spent in his own home enjoying his garden, trips out and his visitors. This was so important to him and to us as a family. We would recommend Promedica24 to family and friends.

First time with a home carer.
The interview with me was relaxed and wih 2 different personnel to find exactly my needs 24/7. Very good outcome for myself and carer really patient and understanding with my wife who has dementia.
So far a very good result with an experienced handler able to suggest
ways to make life easier.

My parents have used Promedica for almost 3 years and when 18 months ago their needs became greater and we moved to having 2 live in carers. In February my mother passed away. The 2 carers were exceptional in how they cared for my mother, my father and us during those last few hours. The carer who later
stayed to be with my father has been empathetic and understanding of his grief and needs. This gave the extended family such peace of mind as we do not live close by. We could not be more grateful for her care and compassion.

You have no say in the choice of carer, details of new carers are sent at very short notice and the profiles don't really give useful information. Several of the carers sent over a period of 3 months were inexperienced and didn't have the skills to look after my mother who has dementia. I always asked
for carers who could speak good English so that my mom could hear them clearly. This request wasn't met, my mom often couldn't understand what was being said to her, so she became frustrated and communication was very difficult. Communication between the carers and their managers and the managers and me was poor and I didn't feel involved in my mom's care. I couldn't recommend Promedica.
Reply from Isobel Parsonage, Marketing Manager at Promedica24

Thank you for your feedback. Our records show that we have been supporting your mother since 2023. The care package started with one care worker which you were satisfied with and we received no complaints from you. In 2024 your mother's care package was reassessed and it was concluded that a second care worker was needed on the contract. You disagreed with this. Our records show that our Care Managers had several conversations with yourself to organise a suitable programme of care for your mother, but ultimately you decided not to progress with our recommendations. We pride ourselves on the high quality of care and support delivered by our carers and we were sorry to not be able to find an agreeable solution on this rare occasion.

Promedica24’s Care Manager is exceptional (deserves 5+ stars). Handles all issues calmly, professionally and always with Mum’s best interests at heart. I literally couldn’t manage without her. The 4 stars is only because some carers pose challenges. But this will always happen. It’s how Promedical24
handles the issues/challenges that matter - and they have done this very well to date.

We needed 24-hour care for my dad after a hip replacement. Having had 24/7 care for weeks in hospital we wanted him to be helped back to independence after returning from hospital. A friend recommended Promedica who were professional from our first contact. We had two visits from the management team
to meet and find out about my dad, his interests/beliefs etc and his physical and recovery needs. The carer arrived (and left!) promptly, as arranged and between times looked after my dad and house perfectly, encouraging him day on day to push himself a little more, doing more himself re his personal care, making a drink, dressing and by the time our contract ended, Dad was indeed back to pretty much where he had been before his fall. Behind the scenes, the admin and contract work, billing etc was timely and professional and we were kept fully informed. Promedica will be my first port of call if we need this type of care for my dad in future. Thank you so much.

We strive to ensure both the quality of care and administrative processes meet our client's needs, and we're glad to have exceeded your expectations. Should you require similar care in the future, we'll be honoured to assist again. Thank you for choosing Promedica24.

Our carer for my father was just an angel, who arrived at the time in which my father's vascular dementia started to deteriorate further. Her patience and care and positive up upbeat attitude was just what he needed to keep him going.
I am happy with the communication and prompt attention we get from
Promedica on all administrative matters too, they are very efficient. But the main priority is of course having the right carer look after your family member and I feel Promedica have done a good job of assessing my father's needs and making an appropriate placement. We just wish the carer could have stayed longer!

Promedica24 have cared for our mother, now in her nineties, in her own home for the past three years. It has been a lifeline for our mum, who has dementia, enabling her to have the very best care and stay in familiar surroundings. We are so grateful for the amazing service we have had from carers who
have all been outstanding, and so incredibly patient and kind. They became almost a part of our family. Not only did they always anticipate our mother's needs and preferences, but they also cooked delicious and healthy meals for her, read and sang with her, and took her for daily walks when she was still mobile. Alas her mobility has now declined so that she needs the facilities of a care home, but the years with ProMedica have been a peaceful and happy chapter in her later life. The management side were always helpful and sympathetic when we had any questions or needed advice. We would not hesitate to recommend this company.

We cannot thank Promedica enough. We worked very hard to keep my mother with motor neurone disease at home until the end of her life. A previous care company had also tried extremely hard to meet Mum's needs, but within 18 months we had been through 33 live-in carers (2:1 package), and this had been
distressing and frustrating for everyone involved. Promedica helped us put together a very bespoke 3:1 live-in care package which enabled us to support Mum successfully at home to the end of her life, and we can’t thank the wonderful and very professional carers enough. Our very sincere thanks also goes to all of them, without whom the package would not have been possible. This includes their team leader and customer services support who were absolutely key to ensuring the package we built was robust enough to support Mum and the complexities of her care. A huge thank you to everyone - the support provided by Promedica has been excellent.

The ProMedica 24 service provided wonderful support to our mother after she had a fall that left her permanently disabled. It was a great relief to our family to know she was being looked after so well. ProMedica 24 continued to care for her through the rest of her life until she died. One of the carers
from ProMedica 24 did several placements looking after our mother and we were so lucky that she was helping to look after her at home in her last week of life, as our mother loved her and she was like family to us all.
Staff provided excellent managerial support to the carers, my mother and ourselves. Some of the carers who had worked with other agencies said that they have never been so well supported before in their care work. It was clear that this made a huge difference to the morale and confidence of the carers.
We cannot thank ProMedica24 enough!

2022 was nothing short of a nightmare after the sudden deaths of my sister and my mother. Our family were ripped apart and to add to it all my father became very ill with encephalitis that left him unable to do anything for himself for over a month. He recovered dramatically in our local cottage hospital
and was discharged the day before my mother's funeral - quite a day 1 for his carer! Promedica24 have been marvellous. I am a GP and live 100 miles away from family. My father is almost blind and is much better in his own home where he has lived for over 50 years.
The whole process from start to finish was open and professional and the promises made were kept. Our area manager has been thorough, easy to get hold of and quick to respond. I was reassured that they are CQC-regulated and the regional partner was very patient with all my queries! Dad is well looked after and has enjoyed learning Polish recipes. I would not hesitate to recommend!

I had promised my father before he died that I would look after my mother and keep her at home as long as I could. I had a company come in to look after her on a live contract. They were ok. However, Promedica 24 were recommended to me and I will always be great full to them as the care my mother has
received has been everything that my father and I could have wished for. The girls have not only looked after my mother but the house has been looked after and always clean. Any questions I have had have been dealt with by the Regional Partner straight away and I could not ask for better service. On the care side I have the area manager who sorted out anything I asked of her. She is absolutely fantastic at what she does and a wonderful girl with it. I can only say that what has been the most difficult time in my life watching my mother who has dementia changing with time being looked after so well has helped me to cope with it. Thank you so much to Promedica 24.

I have found my experience with Promedica24 very positive right from the start. They were very keen to get to know my mother and her requirements so an appropriate carer could be found. The communication was excellent throughout but didn’t feel rushed into making decisions. All questions and queries
that I had before embarking on the contract were answered in a very timely and honest way reassuring me throughout that I was making the right choice.
When the carer arrived at our home, the settling in process was also thorough for the carer and my mother by the care manager. She tried to ensure that the transition was as smooth as possible for all involved. The carers we had we all very willing, patient and caring and worked hard to ensure that all aspects of my mother’s care were taken care of.
I have found the staff exceptional supportive throughout and would highly recommend Promedica24.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.159 for Promedica24 is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (4 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 63 Ratings = 4.159
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Promedica24 is based on 9 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.9
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager - South Team Joined: 2019

I started working in care over 15 years ago. My son was two and a half at the time and I needed a job that would fit around being his mum.

I started as a Care Support Worker and quickly found that I really enjoyed being part of a care team. Hearing people's stories, and being able to be a small part in ensuring they still knew they were valued and that they still had a lot to offer this world gave me a sense of knowing that this was the career path for me.

I believe starting as a Carer and then working my way up has allowed me to see the different processes and given me a better overall understanding. I am passionate about good person-centred care where the person is always at the heart of everything we do. I worked my way up over the years studying as I went along.

I worked as a Carer, Admin Support, Trainer, Locality Manager, Client Relationship Manager, and Care Manager and after completing my level 5, I have now moved up into the Registered Manager Role.

Working within Promedica24 has given me a great sense of teamwork, of the importance of supporting your team, and a great understanding of how putting the people who use our service first has great benefits for all.

I hope to lead with a servant's heart and enable my team to achieve their goals. Care is where my heart lies, and being able to be a part of a fantastic care company in a leadership role is a challenge I am looking forward to, and one where I will give my very best. I will uphold our values, and work hard with my colleagues to ensure we deliver the best possible person-centred care.

I have worked in care for the last 28 years in the community and residential care with elderly and special needs children. I personally feel it is the best job as I get to help people either to learn and develop or to remain in their homes safely and well. Developing relationships with them learning about their past and their wishes, likes and dislikes to meet their needs.

I have met people who worked with Laural and Hardy, and a dancer who was with the Russian ballet. You never know what people have done till get to know them and ask which I feel is what makes the work so interesting.

Gary

Gary Derbyshire

Job Title: Ribble Valley, Lancashire and North Yorkshire Regional Partner

Hello, I’m Gary - your Regional Partner for North Yorkshire and Lancashire. I launched the Promedica24 Lancashire office in 2016 with my partner Gill, before expanding our services to North Yorkshire, offering people a genuine alternative to residential care. I’ve previously worked for the Met Office on its Healthy Outlook Initiative, supporting the NHS and Primary Care Trusts to help keep people with respiratory health conditions to live well at home at times of poor weather, whilst also helping to avoid hospital admissions.

A common theme throughout my career is my desire to help and support others. Whether through my community fundraising initiatives with local charities such as Dementia Forward or through raising key issues with decision makers in health and social care – I am passionate about ensuring the people of Lancashire and North Yorkshire can live independently and well in the comfort of their own homes.

In my spare time I enjoy playing golf, walking in the countryside with Gill and our dogs, and watching my favourite football team, Manchester United – though that's not been too enjoyable in recent times!

Mark

Mark Muller

Job Title: Dorset and Hampshire Regional Partner

Hello, I’m Mark – your Regional Partner for Dorset, Hampshire & the New Forest. I joined Promedica24 in 2015 to provide people with a genuine alternative to residential care. With over 15 years of experience in the care industry, I continue striving to help meet the real need for live-in care in the southwest.

I am convinced supporting people to remain in the home they love is the best environment for people who find themselves needing support. As life chips away at our capabilities, we will all need some level of support. This varies greatly from preparing meals, providing a means for people to remain active in their communities to helping couples remain together. The relationships I have witnessed and the changes we have enabled show me that we are making a positive impact in people’s lives every day.

In my spare time, I act as a non-paid driver for my daughter ferrying her to various clubs, and I occasionally get out for a bike ride with friends. With two cats, a dog, a hamster, fish, and frogs, there is always something to do. Walking our dog Thor keeps me fit whatever the weather and I’m fortunate to live in a lovely area with the beach and forest not far away.

I am also a Dementia Friend with the Alzheimer’s Society, raising awareness and understanding of what it’s like living with the condition in my community.

John Pughe

Job Title: Chester, Cheshire and North Wales Regional Partner

Hello, I’m John – your Regional Partner for Chester, Cheshire, and North Wales. I launched the Promedica24 Cheshire branch just over five years ago to provide the communities I serve with a genuine alternative to residential care. I’m proud to say my live-in care branch is known amongst the Cheshire community as the go-to provider in the area.

Caring for people is part of my family heritage. My parents both worked in the NHS, my sister still does, and my children aspire to be dietitians and physiotherapists. As a teenager, I saw how hard it was for my parents to juggle their busy jobs whilst raising a young family and caring for my grandparents. I know what this pressure looks and feels like for people now.

Today, what my parents want from professional care in later life has radically altered. They wish to remain at home. To stay in familiar surroundings, with family and friends able to visit at any time. To keep their pets, their possessions, and routines. To live their own lives and have their own choices. I very much welcome a chat with you to see how we can improve you and your loved one's life if professional care is required.

In my spare time, you’ll find me in my garden or on a tennis court (I’m quite competitive). Maybe reading a history book - if I get any peace and quiet with teenage children around – which isn’t often!

Hello, I’m Jonathan – your Regional Partner for Wirral. I launched the Promedica24 branch in 2016 after identifying a real need for alternatives to residential care in the area. I am part of the Dementia Friends initiative, participating in Dementia Services Showcase events in addition to being a key speaker at Later Life Seminars with AgeUK Wirral. I look forward to working with you and seeing how we can best support you to live independently in the comfort of your own home.

As a keen fan of the outdoors, I was an active member and volunteer at Neston Cricket club for over 10 years and I’m now a volunteer and participant at both West Kirby and Dee Sailing Clubs where I sail with my children. In Wirral, we are fortunate to have an abundance of wonderful outdoor spaces on our doorstep and I hope people of all ages can continue to enjoy them for a long time to come.

Job Title: North Surrey Regional Partner

Hello, I’m Tibor – your Regional Partner for North & West Surrey. As one of the very first franchise partners in the UK, I have been running my live-in care branch in Surrey since April 2014. Fast forward eight years, and I have helped hundreds of families across Surrey find the support they need.

I am passionate about making a difference in my community, and my role as Regional Partner is to ensure people have access to the support they need to live their lives. Whether your loved one requires help around the home, or you are finding everyday tasks just that little bit more challenging, we are here to provide you with the best possible care to live your life independently in the comfort of your own home.

For almost two years, before Covid, I supported the local community as a volunteer driver, taking vulnerable people to GP and hospital appointments. I have also been helping a local family with two disabled children for several years as a translator and interpreter to keep in touch with social services and healthcare professionals.
