It was with some trepidation I decided to employ a care company to help me care for my dad at home. I was recommended, by my GP, Radfield. After looking after him for 6 years on my own, I was worried about the care he would receive. However, Radfield have been amazing they have never let me down, always on time. They treat my dad with the upmost care. If there was a box for outstanding, I would happily tick this box. They also look after the family too with a hug and a listening ear when you are struggling yourself with fatigue and worry. They simply care, it's not just a job!

My regular carers are all very good at the job.

Some can be described as exceedingly good. The more often they come, the more they know the routine.

Radfield Home Care are a reliable company. The carers that come to help my husband are reliable, trustworthy and kind. My husband receives catheter care help twice daily. This service is done most efficiently with rare exceptions. On the whole the carers come within the half hour time slot with occasional exceptions beyond their control. The carers always ask if there is anything else they can do to help.

Being in the need for some form of help and support following a medical diagnosis of dementia, we were recommend by someone with a medical back ground to contact Radfield Home Care. We have been with them now for 5 months and can't fault the care and support they provide. The organisation is very professional and well organised. Carers are trained to treat clients professionally and with a friendly manner. The unexpected additions such as acknowledging public holidays and personal anniversaries, though not expected, have been so appreciated. We are not just seen as customers Radfield more than live up to their reputation as a Care Company.

Overall care provided has been very good. All carers have been patient kind and sympathetic, treating the service user with dignity. Some of the carers have been consistently excellent, going the 'extra mile' in service provision. We have been particularly impressed that no appointments for care provisions have been missed, despite difficult winter weather conditions, traffic and vehicle problems. We feel we have been fortunate to have received such an efficient and professional service at a very difficult time for us.

I couldn't wish for better care and attention given to my mum on a daily basis, they come in with welcoming smiles and always on time. This caring nature is also seen through office staff I sometimes contact and managers who visit to review how her care is going. Just recently my mum had a fall and had time in hospital- on returning home we received tremendous support and extra support which was needed. We appreciate everything they do and their humour in making my mum comfortable and happy. They assist my mum with showering, getting dressed, choosing clothes, cleaning ensuite and bedroom area and they let me know when supplies get low. Radfield Chester is a caring organisation with happy staff, great teamwork and would recommend them.

Reply from Julie Scott, Director at Radfield Home Care Chester & Ellesmere Port

Thank you very much for this fantastic review. Looking after your mum is a privilege and pleasure to us all. Providing support to your mum when she needed that bit extra is what we always aim to do. Caring for someone changes and we are always here to accommodate however we can to ensure the best possible person centred care.

Radfield's carers have provided an excellent support service to my mum, who has vascular dementia. They have sensitively supported her with personal care with both empathy and kindness, thereby preserving her dignity.

They have also accommodated changes or additional requests at short notice. I can't praise the staff or management enough!

Care staff are attentive, professional, capable and are meeting our care needs in the first 6 weeks of using (Radfield) them. Rota diarying has been inaccurate 3 times, carers turned up on the wrong day once, administration of rota hasn't been good, but we understand it is a complex and juggling situation! It has worked out despite this.

Thank you for your review. I am very sorry that you have had a problem with the rota and the details you've given regarding call times has got mixed up. We will ensure to get this resolved asap and if you have any problems going forward please don't hesitate to contact me personally. Thank you.

I am very happy with my carer. I am reasonably mobile but I have a walker for outdoors. My carer takes me out for walks in the summer months to parks etc. which I enjoy. I also enjoy our chats over a cup of coffee. She also helps with household tasks.

Excellent care. So supportive, regular updates. I'm very happy with the care mum received. The company has a genuine concern for the client and wants to support as much as they can. Visits were on time and care plans are followed. One carer had a different approach that mum didn't respond well to, so a change of carer was made immediately.

About Clare

We would like to introduce you to Clare Harding, the Registered Care Manager for Radfield Home Care Chester & Ellesmere Port.

What is your background before joining Radfield?

I have over a decade of experience in care, starting out as a care professional. Over the years, I progressed to a field care supervisor and assistant care manager.

How has your background prepared you for your new role at RHC?

I started my career in care as a part-time care professional. When I moved over to the care sector full-time time I was promoted to field care supervisor, then to assistant care manager and on to registered care manager. Starting as a care professional has meant that I understand the challenges that care professionals face every day. I still enjoy delivering care and being out and about supporting the care professionals, clients and their families.

What has inspired you to want to be involved in the adult social care sector?

I have always enjoyed helping people and spending a lot of time with my grandma and her friends when I was a child. I was a manager in the catering sector for many years. I then went on to apply to be a part-time care professional, quickly discovering that I had found the perfect career path and moved over to the care sector full-time. I enjoy putting a smile on the clients' faces and going home with a feeling that I had made a difference in someone’s day.

How do you feel your role and your experience will benefit Radfield’s clients?

Throughout my career, I have completed every role in the field and in the office within Domiciliary Care. This has provided me with good overall knowledge of every part of the business. As a care professional, I especially enjoyed delivering end-of-life care and dementia care to clients. I have extensive knowledge and experience that our clients can benefit from. I am dedicated to delivering outstanding care to our clients and their families. To help our clients to live in their own homes with their memories for as long as possible.
