Overall Experience

The service from the start has been very helpful and supportive. My client's quality of life has improved as a result of this very caring and dedicated service. My client has early dementia and has gone from a very independent lady to being quite vulnerable and lonely. This service has allowed me to ensure my client is able to remain at home rather than residential care. My client does not have the confidence to venture out very far and no longer drives however the carer from Homecare has been able to take my client to watch ballroom dancing, shopping and generally wherever my client requests that she might go.

Everyone I have met from this organization has been very friendly and professional.

Mum while very reluctant to have anyone in her home to take care of her at first is now adjusting well to the care and company provided.

Home Instead stepped in at very short notice when Dad was to be discharged from hospital after a 12 week stay and the local services could not even provide a satisfactory crisis care package. Contacting them was the best decision we ever made.
The management staff and care team have contributed to Dad's wellbeing, enabling him to return to his own home to live, encouraging him in day to day living and helping him to regain his confidence.
The team help with all aspects from hospital appointments to changing lightbulbs. Their excellent communication between all parties concerned in Dad's care and ourselves has built a good relationship and given us peace of mind, essential when we live a distance away.

We, as a family, would have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead to others. They do a fantastic job and we would be lost without them.

Home Instead (Blackpool) has been providing home care for over one year now to my husband in terms of personal care and companionship. We are very satisfied with the care provided as we were and are able to state times required, some carer(s) visiting and easy access to the managers office. Phone calls answered immediately. It has enabled us to build up a food rapport with the carers and mangers. The service offered is very professional and flexible wherever necessary, with good record keeping in the provision of a client journal. The carers, in our experience, are kind, willing, reliable, pleasant with the client and trustworthy.

HomeInstead have been a real find. My mum and dad had had care before with other agencies and the experience was disappointing and stressful. They struggled on without any care and then I found HomeInstead. The two ladies who run it are dedicated to giving their elderly customers a stress free and caring experience. The visits from the allocated carer are geared around building a relationship, not just nipping in and doing a few jobs and nipping out after 20 minutes. At Home Instead all visits are an hour and the carer is always the same one, so a familiarity and comforting environment can be cultivated. The carers will do chores and errands and chat. Whatever is needed.

They keep up good communication with my parents and myself and any hiccups are ironed out quickly and without fuss. I would heartily recommend them. They are really very good.

This time last year my wife and I had no experience of mental illness and no idea how to address any of the issues associated with an elderly parent succumbing to dementia. The GP wasn’t much help either making an incorrect initial diagnosis which set us back months.

However, and almost at the end of our tether, I stumbled on the ‘Blackpool and Wyre Home Instead’ care company.

After a reassuring management visit and an equally reassuring ‘we can help your father’ promise, we started a care package for my dad. But as time went on dad’s condition deteriorated and his needs changed, but Home Instead responded as quickly and delivered the extra care he required.

They guided us on a steep learning curve including a direction for Power of Attorney, mental health assessments and of course, general health issues.

Over a period of time they have successfully encouraged him to socialise with others suffering the same illness and more recently they have succeeded in getting him to a day centre where he has found friends and comfort from others suffering like himself.

Much should also be said of the carers themselves, dedicated, reliable, sympathetic and trustworthy – obviously it is more than just a job to them.

And the really good thing we have found for someone with dementia is to keep things as familiar as possible, to this end we are not inundated with a stream of different carers - the same ones cover all the visits.

It’s been a really tough time and I’d be lying if I said it’s been without its ups and downs, but all said, I would recommend the Manager and her team to anyone – to them it’s personal!

Overall Experience

My mum has used the services of Home Instead since January 2015. The difference is noticeable when comparing the service offered by Home Instead to the care provision mum received last year from a different company, the approach to managing mum's care plan and relationship with mum and her family.

The benefits of the support from Home Instead was instant to both my mum and her family. The care and consideration that goes with the service demonstrates the personal and holistic approach the team takes. My mum instantly clicked with her selected CareGivers and the difference they have made to her was noticeable. The level of support has increased over time and Home Instead have always been flexible, accommodating and supportive to the change in needs and variations when mum has had a change in her routine.

The other aspect that has been re-assuring to us as a family is the interest all of the team have taken in my mum, they quickly got to know her as a person and were able to identify if there was an emerging problem or difficulty, offering advice and suggested approaches.
