The careers are highly professional, conscientious, empathetic and very caring they provide first-class care to my 91-year-old mother. Which allows her to live independently in her own home, also there has always been a continuity of the same careers over the past year, which has been good for Mum, I highly recommend this professional caring company.
Home Instead was recommended to me when it was obvious that my mum needed extra help at home. My mum was very against having someone from outside helping her but when Home Instead came along for the initial meeting my mum warmed to them straight away. They started caring for Mum and were excellent, they turned up on time, did extras like making Mum a sandwich at lunchtime and really took the strain off my husband and I.
I find the carers very helpful and friendly.
A care manager and a small number of regular caregivers were assigned to provide one hour companionship four times a week.
Each of the three regular caregivers treats my mother with the utmost kindness and respect, and she looks forward to the visits. Each of the ladies provides a different kind of experience from short outdoor walks to board games to exercise and massage. Together with regular family contact, the visits have enabled her to continue to live independently in her home. I have nothing but appreciation for the work that the caregivers and other staff do, and I would recommend Home Instead (Basingstoke) to anyone in similar circumstances.
The carers are on time to give care to my father. They show respect and kindness to him.
The management act very professionally and beyond what I would have expected, referring my wife to the local surgery when necessary.
I am very well satisfied with the care I receive. The carers are friendly and give me as much help as I need. The office staff respond quickly to any request I make.
Amazed how these carers continue to be as consistently 'on time' with visits, obviously there has been the odd snag. They always arrive with a smile and more often than not a 'chirpy' remark to brighten my day. I have been using this care giver for two years and three months and would not have stayed with this company for this length of time, if I was not very satisfied with the quality of care they provide. Not just to my wife, who lights up when a visit is made but also to myself.
I know Mum would want me to say a special thank you to all who gave her such valuable support and care.
Sadly Dad passed away a couple of years ago but Mum, who lives by herself now, continues with the service and is still able to live independently. The high level of care she receives is not only appreciated by herself but also provides peace of mind for the rest of the family as we all live quite far from her.
We would definitely recommend Home Instead to family and friends alike.
She enjoys their visits and they are very caring and friendly. The care staff are very good and the management team run the organisation very well in my experience, and they have all been flexible and understanding and very dependable. They have maintained their high standards consistently despite the huge challenges that Covid has added to their workload. We are very grateful for the service they provide.
Always take into account the clients needs.
There has always been good communication between Home Instead team and the family.
My mother has dementia and is nearly 96.
She lives alone (her choice), and I live over an hour away from her. Home Instead is an essential part of my being able to cope with her care. They are utterly professional, utterly reliable and extremely experienced, and I simply couldn't manage without them. They always respond to any request I make, any extra help I need to organise they do without making me feel I have caused them any bother.
I cannot speak highly enough about the Home Instead team, from the carers to the admin staff and the managers. If you are wondering how to cope with someone who needs care - full or part-time - then look no further than their website. I am happy to speak with anyone who would like a personal recommendation and/or discuss what care I have needed to provide for my mother. She is extremely happy to still be able to live at home, and without Home Instead, this would be completely impossible.
I had been troubled with nerves and panicking and in a dark place. The help I have been given by the girls of Home Instead have made it possible to lead a normal life and I will be grateful forever. I could not have managed without them.
His care providers are extremely approachable and communication about concerns etc is brilliant especially as I live 400 miles away from him and have been unable to visit as often as I normally would due to lockdown restrictions.
I've been using Home Instead for my mother since 2019 and we are both incredibly pleased and grateful for their service. My mother's carer is now like an old friend and gives my mum the help and companionship she needs. Nothing is too much trouble for her or the company and I would not hesitate to recommend them.
The standard of care provided for my elderly mother has been consistently high. The care staff are friendly, professional and understanding. Operating in a small team they have enabled my mother to develop trust and good relationships with them. The support provided to me, living at a distance and unable to visit, has been thoughtful, efficient, informative and much appreciated. Both mother and I are extremely happy with the service and support provided.
First class service when it comes to looking after my mother-in-law, who has dementia. What is great is it is a team effort, with the family and each of the carers brings something different and special to the relationship. The team is always happy to go the extra mile and on a couple of times, we have needed extra support they have been able to accommodate us. Pre-COVID the carers were happy to take “the mother-in-law” on trips to either the hairdressers or garden centre. Genuinely they care about the person they are looking after and importantly we can trust them.
The Basingstoke branch of Home Instead has been helping my mother-in-law for the last couple of years. Throughout this period, the team have proved to be reliable, flexible and easy to deal with. During the COVID pandemic, they have been absolutely exceptional and have provided my mother-in-law with not only excellent care but also with emotional support which has been very reassuring for both her and us during this stressful period. Thank you Home Instead.
My carers have managed to accommodate my wants, wishes and idiosyncrasies and are always cheerful, helpful and kind.

Meet the Team (6)
We offer the communities of Basingstoke and the surrounding areas a high quality, reliable and person-focused home care service to support and enhance the lives of clients within the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.
Our objective is to respond to a client’s needs rather than merely perform tasks. We want to build trusting relationships with clients and their families and provide a flexible and individualised service based on personal requirements and aspirations.
Our CAREGivers are chosen for their compassion, reliability and ethos, and are given high-quality training with ongoing professional development. We match our CAREGivers to our clients, introduce CAREGivers personally to clients before visiting commences, and provide that a client is visited by a consistent small group of CAREGivers. Our CAREGivers carry ID but do not wear uniforms. Visits are for a minimum of an hour, allowing our CAREGivers time to get to know our clients and provide a genuinely sensitive service.
I am passionate about delivering the best possible quality of service to each individual, to help our clients retain their independence and continue to lead rewarding lives at home. I found Home Instead Senior Care to hold the same values and ethos towards caring for people that governed my businesses and was pleased to take up this opportunity to join an international organisation with such high standards and a unique approach to home care.
Home Instead is different – we meet each client personally, we focus on our clients’ needs and those of their families, we choose CAREGivers who are passionate about quality of care and match them to our clients, we give our CAREGivers initial and ongoing training, and we recognise the importance of continuity in the care provided.
My role includes establishing a client’s requirements and ensuring that we maintain the highest quality of care in satisfying those requirements.
I started doing home care and then moved into support work for clients with learning difficulties. A few years ago my father developed cancer and I came to appreciate what valuable service carers provide, both to the client and the rest of the family. Inspired, I moved back into home care.
What a shock I got! Visits were now typically just 30 minutes, with a list of tasks which were impossible to complete conscientiously in the time, and certainly no time to try to relate to the client as a person. The last straw was when 15 minute calls came in – they always ran over and we spent as much time travelling as we spent providing a service.
My daughter saw Home Instead on Facebook and when I met them I realised that they really did embody what I thought home care ought to be – at least an hour with each client, regular clients, and an ethos which positively encourages us to provide social interaction and build relationships.
Home Instead asked me to join them, initially as a CAREGiver and then as a member of the management team providing support and liaison to caregivers and weekend supervision, as well as having some of my own clients.
After a brief spell in retail, I took up caring as a career, initially working in sheltered housing. I then moved into homecare, mainly as a carer but also providing managerial support. I found that caring bought me so much joy, being able to promote people's independence by offering support and encouragement. Not only did I know I was making a difference to their lives, but it was fantastic hearing all the stories and sharing lots of laughter!
I've always been a people person; my love for people and the passion to become a carer is founded on my nan. She had a huge heart which was never too full to offer a bit more care, and she was the most amazing carer and inspiration to our family. I subsequently became her carer myself, when she was diagnosed with cancer, and she continued to inspire me in so many ways even through the really tough times.
After a career break to start my family, I joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver, and have recently become the care coordinator and scheduler. In this role, I liaise with clients, CAREGivers and others, and schedule the care visits. I can honestly say that I love my job because it gives me the opportunity to connect with people on a daily basis, and I am fortunate to have the support and encouragement of a fantastic team!
I then worked for Basingstoke College of Technology for 18 years where I supported learners to achieve their NVQs in Care. This was a great opportunity to continue promoting good quality care and enabled me to share my knowledge and experience with others.
I got to know Home Instead in my role as Head of Workplace Learning at the college, and always found myself looking forward to each engagement with the company and its people. I loved the passion that Home Instead’s CAREGivers showed about their clients, so when I needed a change of career direction, it was a natural reaction to enquire about a post with them.
I worked initially as a CAREGiver but was asked to take on more senior roles, assisting with training and then the broader HR role. I can honestly say that I am the happiest now I have ever been in a job. The company’s commitment to our clients is second to none, and I am proud and privileged to be part of such an amazing and dedicated team.
Caring has always been in my blood since I was very young. After school and college, I worked in childcare - I loved my time with the children but wanted to expand my experience of care.
I found Home Instead in 2018 and started off as a CAREGiver. I was then offered an office role as a Care Coordinator. I have really found myself here, and feel blessed to be working with such an amazing team whilst doing a job I enjoy so much.
I think it is important to spend time with the older generation, whose lives have been so interesting and who lived through what for me is part of history. I love to hear our clients’ stories, their experiences in the previous century, the jobs they had and the families they brought up. I find it fascinating to learn how the World used to be and how very different life was when our clients were young. To see couples who met in their teens, and are still so in love now, is really special and heart-warming - they are the generation that made life safe for us and made the world what it is today. To be supporting that generation, and be part of the bigger picture of making care at home more accessible, is truly satisfying.
