Although initially this was a short-term placement, soon after my mother had to enter hospital for 6-7 weeks but their care and interest did not reduce during this time, with regular visits to my mother in hopspital for assessment but also for social/personal reasons. I feel this was above and beyond what I had expected, and made me realise how lucky we were to have their support. Following her sudden discharge they re-accommodated to her needs immediately. The manager is exceptional, agreeing to collect and deliver Christmas lunch supplies when I asked him (I don't live locally), buying her newspapers, and generally calling in when needed even on evenings and weekends. The day she was really ill with what turned out to be pneumonia, he called in on her at the end of the day to help her regular carer get her to bed. When Mum was unable to stand he made sure she got medical attention - he waited with her until the ambulance arrived. He is still helping me today with her now empty house, six months after her death. I feel very fortunate to have found Visiting Angels.
