Caremark gave outstanding care for my mother for two years. We found them after her previous care agency pulled out and many others had been unable to provide a suitable service. They set up a large care package (4hrs/day) at 2 weeks' notice, and kept delivering and adapting it to Mum's changing needs. Carers were punctual, polite, friendly, reliable, cheerful, flexible, and above all patient and understanding.
My mother has very particular and complicated care needs. In the last 2 years her physical disability worsened but she was determined to hold onto her independence and stay at home. She is mentally sharp, often anxious, and probably has OCD. Many carers have found it hard to work with her, as she would not change her ways.
We didn't tell Caremark all that at first. They quickly grasped the problem and chose to work with it. They recruited suitable carers and trained them to help my mother the way she wanted to be helped. Carers were very kind and often went the extra mile for Mum.
We particularly appreciated Caremark keeping Mum safe whilst avoiding a “health & safety gone mad” approach we'd met elsewhere, and their collaborative can-do attitude when facing problems that had made other agencies give up.
It was only after a hospital stay, when Mum reached the stage of needing carers available 24/7, that we decided she could no longer stay at home. By the time she left home, Caremark were providing an average of 15 hours care a day, including some all-night care, at our request. They also helped us reduce costs where we could, and told us when they didn't think Mum was safe at home. They were quite prepared to put in whatever care was needed to help her stay there, but she would not have been able to afford that indefinitely. Nevertheless, she was able to stay at home much longer than she could have done without Caremark's help, and we could not have supported her there without them.
