As a stroke survivor who still has limited functionality in one leg and no functionality in my left arm, I do need a lot of help in daily life, although can manage a lot of the routine tasks of life on my own, including morning shower and dressing.
Helping Hands staff come in usually twice a day when
my wife and carer is out or away. It gives her great reassurance to know that someone is calling in to check that I'm well and managing. I don't need overnight care and can make a simple breakfast before the first HH visit.
All the carers are well trained and empathetic. One task I greatly value is their care in monitoring my daily physio exercises at home. One who was formerly a PE teacher taught me some new exercises to supplement the physiotherapist's regime.
So overall a big thumbs up for Helping Hands. My only reservation is an administrative one: the email which contains my rota of visits for the next week is important but is not always received in good time.But the staff who are in the office or are covering client calls out of hoursare always responsive in confirming the visits booked for the next week in case of doubt.

Great continuation of services offered to support my Mum.
Care staff are warm and friendly; they are a welcome addition to the care I can provide.
Mum, actually looks forward to the girls arriving; their approach to the care they provide us a credit to them and Helping Hands.

I have been using Helping Hands for over 6 years now, first with Exeter and then with the Topsham branch when it opened. I have carers six days a week either for 1 1/2 hours or 4 hours. They try to give me the same carers each week which I find very helpful. There are 5 carers who come to me occasionally,
and I have one main carer who comes most days.
Carers are always dressed in their lilac uniforms with appropriate PPE.

Their attention to detail is fantastic and it is obvious that they enjoy their work. Very friendly and empathetic, all in all very happy with the service they provide. We use their Sitting Service and I feel confident that mum is looked after properly and cared for whilst they are there.

It is nice to see some carers from the previous home care provider who visited my husband. I feel confident to talk to them. Most carers are friendly and efficient. I do not like jackets worn for my care, so ask for removal of same. I am happy to contact the office locally if the need arises or if I
need advice.

My husband had care from Helping Hands for over 12 months. Although initially he was very reluctant to accept care from anyone but me, the girls that came were ideal and managed to persuade him to let them wash him. The agency explained they would send different carers for the first few sessions
so that we could work out who suited my husband best and once we had done this there was remarkable continuity of care. When the regular carer was on holiday, they said they would send a carer who had a very similar approach to the usual one, and they did. I was very impressed with this, and with their flexibility when I had to alter sessions at relatively short notice. The carers were kind and efficient and the support and advice from the office staff was very helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Lovely carers (especially Sharon) go above and beyond.
Carers help with washing, breakfast and prompting medication. Some will empty bins and do washing, mum (and I) would be lost without them.

We have regular care mainly with one person who knows my wife well. She is excellent. The other 'occasional' carers are also excellent and also know her well. We are extremely happy with the provision we get.
